I hold up my hands and apologise to Mr Idah, I posted a few weeks ago saying I simply didn’t get it; I didn’t see what value he brought to a team, ran around but really delivered nothing. Yes I admit it I was wrong, I totally misjudged him. Against West Ham I saw a very different young man start to emerge, more aggressive, more confident, higher tempo and always showing for the ball all over the place. Yesterday he built on that performance and was a right royal pain in the ar-e to Everton; I think we have a player!! Not sure what the management team have done but I think we are going to like this version. It’s also a timely reminder, that we are quick to judge - let’s hope we a similar transition from the likes of Tzolis, Sargeant and others ! You never know we may win the championship again next year, that will pee off the Norwich slayers, the likes of talk shi-e!!!!

To be fair I always struggle to pronounce the word Lineker and keep saying knobend

A draw would be much better for us. We don’t want any of these teams getting wins.

It was more a play on words ‘idah or ee-dah it could be either or eether’ certainly nothing to have a cow about

It wasn’t that bad and if that’s all we’ve got to complain about today then we’re doing alright

Win at Watford on Friday and we'll get another one sacked. Maybe that should be the measure of how successful our season is rather than staying up. Lose to Norwich, lose your job.

Hats off to the city fan in the GW stand who took it upon himself to personally hand deliver the ball to the everton player in extra time at the end of the game. You sir, won the star of the match award for me. Very funny and spot on.

I think you need to turn you tv up mate, clearly made a joke in reference to his name, Lineker loves a pun and has done it with several players in the past

Agree completely! I really dislike the chants of "if Sargent scores we're on the pitch" - it can't do his confidence any good and he works so bl00dy hard! We miss him when he's not playing - I'd love to see him get his reward for all the work he does for the team!

Maybe Idah is just improving with more game time, was never going to develop with 5 minutes here and there,

But Johnson didn’t want an initial lockdown. He also wanted more restrictions when omicron came along, luckily for him 100 of his MPs wanted less restrictions. Only a few weeks ago there was a you tube on here saying we would have 1, 2 or even 3 million cases a day, luckily that didn’t happen. In September boosters were laughed at, when it came to them being important because of the jokes 1/3 of those eligible didn’t take them up. At tax payers expense we now have empty hubs, full only of staff and 100 of millions of doses of vaccine stockpiled that will go to waste, when the real problem is getting them out to the unvaccinated countries in the world. Had the unvaccinated got vaccinated and others taken up their boosters, the U.K. among many other countries would now be in a much better position and our icu wards would be fairly empty and we could have got on with important things like cancer and heart operations to name but a few things.

There is no chance of them being dragged into the fight I'm afraid. They are too far ahead.

Don’t change a winning team unless you have to….

It's about time these clowns in the media like Simon Jordan, who have been saying "we are rubbish" and an "“embarrassment to the Premier League”, started looking a bit more closely at a few other clubs and giving them the same treatment - Everton, Newcastle, Burnley and Watford for starters who, despite spending millions more than us, are actually no better than us. But of course we all know that they won't
  15. 3 points
And I’ll never forgive them fielding an under-strength side against one of our relegation rivals to send us down.
  16. 3 points
I'll guarantee they'll have a full squad (AFCON aside) to choose from Thursday night in their important 2nd leg v Liverpool, the only opportunity they have to win something this season

This is worst piece of trivial whataboutery I've seen for along time. It really is best ignored as wholly misleading. It's targeted at the dwindling 20% or so who still try to excuse Johnson and to bolster their lack of any critical thinking. The purveyors of this tripe know their target audience well. Luckily most of us can see the truth and the sham that is Johnson and by extension his whole government for what they are. That includes many previous Conservative voters who don't like being taken for fools.

I nearly didn't make it today having strained a muscle during the week but I had a little practice on the bike and in the end decided to give it a go. Conditions were perfect for a decent game with hardly a breath of wind and with the visitors struggling for form I had the feeling it might be worth the effort. With Kenny on the sick list it was good to see Sorensen given a run out and with Sargent and Idah starting there was at least the prospect of some physical support fot Pukki. The opening minutes were quite encouraging with City having some good possession but it was mostly midfield stuff until PLM finally tested Pickford with a low shot that was comfortably saved. Gray was giving Aarons a problem down the Everton left but Krul had his angles covered when the shot came in from a narrow angle. There was plenty of strong running from Sargent and Idah and just after the quarter hour it paid off with City doing something they have found very difficult this season by taking the lead. Rashica carried the ball across the centre of the pitch and after interplay between Aarons and Sargent it was the latter who whipped a low cross in from the right that came off Keane and left Pickford stranded. I was almost tempted to take advantage of the stoppage to nip out for a wee but I'm glad I didn't because virtually from the restart Williams intercepted a through ball and set off into empty space down the City left. With defenders converging on him he played a superb low pass into the area for Idah to latch onto and poke the ball past the advancing Everton keeper for two nil. Eight goals in half a season then two in a minute, it was pandemonium at our end as the ball hit the back of the net. I was now thinking we needed to hold this until halftime and despite quite a bit of Everton pressure with corners and free kicks they managed the rest of the half with a certain degree of comfort as Tim Krul was rarely stretched into anything out of the ordinary. It was nice to have a halftime not filled with doom and gloom but although the visitors had rarely threatened, the City midfield had covered a lot of ground and expended a lot of energy in keeping things tight. I expected them to come at us as the second half began but it was the home side that almost struck another early blow. Idah earned a corner and when the ball was headed clear it fell nicely for PLM to volley from twenty yards. Unfortunately it was straight down the keepers throat. A minute later a poor everton back pass left Idah with only Pickford to beat but to the England keepers credit he was off his line like lightening and the chance came to nothing. The visitors were now having the bulk of possession and when Richarlison came on for Rondon on 55 minutes it added a touch of class and they began to look much more dangerous. On the hour a corner was headed clear but City couldn't complete the clearance and Richarlisons overhead kick gave Tim no chance. It was a different ball game now and it took a while for the crowd to whip up the noise and drive the boys on again. With lots of defending to do and some great blocks and tackles going in it was no surprise when first Williams and then Aarons had to limp off with what looked like leg injurues,. Thankfully both Byram and Giannoulis were able replacements as City fought hard to hold on to the lead as the minutes ticked away. Hanley was a rock in the middle as Everton banged the ball up to Richarlison and although many were now running on empty the City defence still managed to prevent the visitors from gaining a clear opening. There was an audible groan when seven minutes added time was signalled and I seemed to be checking my watch every fifteen seconds. There was some good running the ball into the corners from Idah and Pukki and the usual amount of Tim ****housery that did its job in winding up the visitors but in the final seconds it was City who had the big chance. Rashica broke clear on the halfway line and made tracks goalward. Teemu, whose legs had gone struggled to give an option down the middle but it was the winger who nearly went all the way as his low shot flicked off the outside of the post and out of play with Pickford beaten. Thankfully Andy Madely had seen enough and took mercy on those with weak tickers as the final whistle was greeted with rapture and relief. In many ways they might not be good enough but they fought until they dropped today and nobody can ask for more than that. Adam Idah my MOM, good goal, never stopped running and gave the front line a measure of physicality that has so often been missing this term. To be honest every man a hero today in a game that was on a knife edge. If you didn't get your moneys worth today you are never going to be satisfied. I shall be enjoying a small dram tonight.

Pleased to see this thread. Have similarly been advocating Sorensen’s inclusion, but thought after Villa I might have made a terrible misjudgement. However, while others were more prominent yesterday, I thought Jacob was unobtrusively very good. He might not be the most athletic, but he reads the game very well, his positioning is strong, and doesn’t panic in possession. He seemed to have time, when we might imagine another player might panic. Most of all, he’s got a brilliant way of getting a foot in at just the right moment; several times he nicked possession in a very tight spot. He’s not perfect, but he can definitely do the job of DCM for us, and would like to see him continue as one of the double-pivot, even - and perhaps especially - when Normann returns. I can imagine that as a pairing that gives a defensive platform, while also giving Normann the chance to push on a bit. Promising signs. Separately, went to the game like many with a sense of creeping despair. Came home not feeling quite so bad. At this point, I’ll take it.

People need to chill out a bit and stop looking for things to take offence at. It was clearly a joke.

That’s how I see it. People have forgotten the football talent that he is as a result of all the shenanigans. A fit and on fire Todd Cantwell is a huge player for us. We just need him and the club to bang their heads together I think.

Im the first to admit i was one of his biggest critics but what a turn around!!! i was wrong and there is a player there. So happy to be wrong.

Watford play at Burnley Tuesday evening another must not lose for them after late leveller at Newcastle. We can only hope for another draining draw and along come Norwich next suddenly look like a PL team to give Watford a hiding. Maybe an omen our only two consecutive wins this season were against teams ending in Ford and Ton, put Everton to the sword Watford up next.

From someone who is usually critical of City TVB raises some good points in questioning himself. I doubt he's the only one. Everton certainly weren't great but I think we deserve praise for a really solid 90 mins. I too didn't think there was a performance like that in Idah. Many of us, including me, were thinking it would do him good to be shipped out to a lower division club now find themselves thinking we need him in there every game. Sargent too had a really decent game as did all the others and it wouldn't it be lovely if we can now get up a head of steam and make a go of the rest of the season.

No, I’m mocking those who thought it would be a good idea to clap for them instead of campaigning for a deserved pay rise. For your information, in protest to those too stuck up to give them payrises and think clapping was the answer, as well as this government not giving it to them, I’m actually running a local half marathon later in the year for NHS Together Charities and actually decided on this before Christmas.

First premier league win since what seems like 2003, covid numbers going down despite no material restrictions and employees actively encouraged to party in the workplace. Is this the 'new normal'? I quite like it

Surely even Boris can't be that thick to think that people won't see through this. It also begs the question as to whatever must Williamson have on Johnson for him to even consider such an outrageous move. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.lbc.co.uk/politics/gavin-williamson-lined-up-for-knighthood-pm-tries-buy-silence/

Exactly this KH. 👏 what a load of Mary Whitehouses. Joke. Even Adam has his laugh at it on his Twatter account. ADAM is now thinking fu*k me I've made it and people know me now. Good on you BIG Adam 👏 your time is here and now. Milk it big boy. I'm sure Pukki is over the moon for him.

Oh behave yourself, it was a bit of fun nothing more. No wonder some fans think Norwich fans lack humour. I bet Adam thought nothing of it.

We can expect massive backpedalling from the Lockers down this week.

If you look in slo-mo it has a curve to it, just at a slightly odd sharp angle, missing Keane's desperate foot.

Assist? I'm counting it as a goal!
  36. 2 points
I have to disagree, I was right in one with it and it was a good ball in, low and hard into the "area of uncertainty", the defender had to go for it as there was a Norwich player behind him, we should have been and should continue to play in more ball like this......

While I think the main difference was that Everton had 4 on-it attacking players to deal with, you can't ignore that we weren't absent in midfield. Kennys issue has always been his predilection for charging out into a press and leaving gaps. Seemingly with a slightly more reserved presence alongside, PLM also looked much better and the machine ticked over nicely for once
  38. 2 points
I agree that Sorensen is due a run but it’s a bit of a stretch to blame McLean for our woes, which many are doing, and our m/f looked pretty weak to me yesterday. There’s times that supporters don’t see what a player adds and Kenny falls into that category. I always hark back to Mike Phelan, who was very much unsung by us but Ken Brown waxed lyrical about how he did all the stuff supporters don’t notice.
  39. 2 points
He deserves an assist. He was brilliant. Not a striker, but on the right wing, he's a pain to any team and he supports Aarons pretty well.

In terms of formation, yes, but in terms of playing style it was arguably the furthest away.

As Adam would say:- Yeah really not hard to research that one. Although to be fair, If it was off the cuff then it's no real disrespect at least Linekar offered up both pronunciations and laughed at his own lack of knowledge more than anything.
