If this in anyway means Ipswich are in for an prolonged stint in division 3 , then excellent.

Bully. The guy asked a perfectly relevant question. Every time the establishment is questioned the establishment on here troll out a bully to try and know you back down. Pathetic

How about you not being here next season ?

This is why it's called the silly season Nuffo, silly rumours started by silly people, which are then believed by even sillier people. Got no problems discussing the possibilities, but the minutae of offers etc does nothing for me whatsoever. My feelings are that we either trust SW to get the best deal he can or we don't. So far , when we've bought, sold or brought in a permanent( exception Drmic), he's done a decent job imo. Let's trust the guy.

By that logic a Murphy twins, Pritchard and Oliveira frontline was better than Buendia, Stieperman, Hernandez and Pukki. Absolute nonsense.

Or in other words, every time someone puts up a spurious or misleading statement about things at the club, someone tries to explain the other side to it.....the trouble is you don't want to hear that. We get it, you and a few others don't like the way the club is being run - that is your prerogative, but for the rest of us there is plenty to be positive about. The truth is probably that on balance, there is quite a lot that is good about "the establishment" but there are some things that could be done better - but even that is a good thing because it means there is always a challenge to improve. We do not have to sell, but it is in our interests to sell and if we do manage to sell players to the likes of the champions of the premier league, then it is yet another clear sign that the club policies are working.

Because I can see actual value in critical job roles such as Doctors, Nurses, Fireman etc, who are FAR more deserving of significant wages, rather than actors, singers or blokes who kick a ball of wind around.

Pete, can you move this to the Geography Pedants section of the forum?

Dutch, you're not new here so what right you think you have using evidence in your posts to support the club god only knows. What we have to do is criticise the club for receiving a bid on a player, for some reason. And then paint some doomsday scenario where selling Lewis means we are selling everyone. Its important at this point to note that Lewis was likely the one we were most willing to sell as we purchased a replacement six months ago and already have another player who took his place last season. But please note that is evidence so can't be used here. DELIA OUT. Lets get a banner or something.

I guess another characteristic of boomers is there insistence to have their voice heard on everything, even if it is of no interest to them...

Starmer's doing well. A credible leader. All he has to do is let the chickens come home to roost in the next year and bide his time.

China has 1000s of years of history behind them and have always played the long game. I honestly believe that china would not care if a 100 million died because of the dotards sanctions. A mere drop in the bucket when there are a billion and a half of them. It has happened in the past and will again. I always remember what chaiman Mao said when Nixon told him to open the borders and let the people leave if they wanted to, Maos answer was.. OK Mr Nixon..how many million do you want... that ended the discussion🙂

I think part of it is that they are having a punt. We keep being told that Covid will effect the transfer market and prices especially. Liverpool are just chancing their arm.

Lewis won’t go for £15m mate - Webber stated before the season had even ended that none of our talent would go for anything less than £20m as despite relegation we have no need to sell and so want to keep all our talent for next season I think what I’m seeing is a project planned by the club to try and make us a strong and financially healthy team

Success would be if track and trace demonstrably reduced community transmission measured in part through the R rate, enabled the country to get operational and enabled targeted action to deal with outbreaks quickly when they occured. It has failed on all three counts.
  20. 2 points
If that was true every football team would always get stronger.

You are still using ukip propaganda to fight a battle you won. You have to now show us what your winning gets us. So far, so bad. Everything we warned about is actually happening.

The sun is still out. I've got news for you Vinny and you other miserabilists - the sun is still shining. New exciting young players coming in - the latest one stating what a brilliant club this is to come to - and things to look forward to. A new challenge, a further development and improvement of what we are trying to do as a club on and off the field and if we get up again to the PL then we will be better equipped to stay there. I know I might as well be talking to a brick wall than trying to get through to the likes of you, Vinny, but your "I told you so" is about as limp as it can get. 🌞

https://www.efl.com/news/2020/august/squad-salary-caps-introduced-in-league-one-and-league-two/ A step in the right direction or will it create greater division between EPL/Championship and L1/L2? And could the Championship follow?

that bird has long flown, as far as you are concerned

I hope it pans out like this Bovril, although sounds optimistic. Anyway good luck to you and well done supporting the club.

Well if stadiums are only allowed to open at 25% capacity eventually, then it could be years in theory. The club can tell you anything they like, but they don't really know as it will all be subject to govt guidelines.

Because they play in the same competition, it should be equal to all in each division at the start of the season. The size of Sunderland in that league should attract better players but all leagues in my view should be hit with a salary cap and limited squad size at the start of the season.

I take my hat off to getting a season ticket at this time. Like many i paid for mine in February, not sure if and when we will be let in, will there be a ballot for a small number to get in who knows, will the people we do not get in and get their money back at the end of this next season still count as a ST holder for the purposes of the season after next. On the other hand if you are happy to live with a bit of uncertainty for a year or so maybe a good opportunity to get in. In any event good luck and welcome to the band of ST holders

Lewis, Trybull, Leitner, Vrancic and Cantwell and Godfrey. And if the price offered is right they will let anyone leave.
  33. 1 point
I went on the waiting list in January and was offered the 3 season tickets I wanted two weeks ago as for the phone, I had the same thing so went to the reception and they put me through to someone who could deal with season ticket sales

I think you are the one guilty of clutching a bit at straws there BB. Obviously we all accept post lock down the odd local flare-up would occur. But if TT & isolate was working effectively it should (must) be capable of quickly controlling the outbreak and eliminating it. It's not, case are growing, generally almost everywhere. R > 1. Conclusion has to be TTI in it's current form isn't fit/capable for purpose with the current level of lock down relaxation. Action - Need to re-introduce lock down measures (i.e. pubs, restaurants) such that TTI can again become effective and R < 1. Alternatively need to beef up and make more effective TTI. Yes it's yet another political failure either way.

Really? Because if you lose all those players you've listed that doesn't leave you with much of a team at all! Certainly not one to be challenging for promotion.

Emi should be played as a number 10 behind Pukki next season. They work well off each other and he has the inventiveness to make stuff happen in the middle of the park, he's wasted out on the wing and gets frustrated easily.

I don't think we saw the best of Lewis last season because we were so weak overall defensively he ended up afraid to go forwards. It's a totally different kettle of fish at Liverpool, you have VVD and Gomez etc backing him up, defensive midfielders like Henderson and Gigi (can't spell his surname) screening and as cover so he can bomb forwards with a lot more confidence that if possession does get turned over it isn't going to end in disaster, think Lewis from our Champs-winning season. That's what Klopp sees in him. Add in the facts that he's only 22, already a full international and counts as homegrown, and it's easy to see why he's attracted the attention of a big club with attacking impetus. Which makes their lowball offer even more derisory IMHO. It doesn't matter that he's weak in the air, they have enough height elsewhere on the pitch to counter that, and he's not likely to be marking the opposition centre-forwards, he'll be on the edge of the box waiting to collect the 2nd ball and charge towards the opponent's goal on the counter attack, which we know he can do.

Thinking about it, is a sell-on clause worth much in this case? If Jamal is a success at Liverpool, he's not likely to go anywhere, if not, he'll probably see out his contract in the reserves and be moved on for a much smaller fee at its end.

Noted. Thanks for steering me right Hog. I don't know what came over me. I should really know better by now. I retract my post as fake news, no, needless propaganda in fact. Apologies to all those affected by factual information. As you were. Banner waving questionable Chinese businessman in, Delia out. Club's a joke.

Trading insults with insults never helped anyone. Ever. It doesn't even feel good. Having the last word is the same. Conversely, being nice generally does feel good. As for worrying about someone being overly critical or spiteful on here, the only response is to try to understand where it comes from. If you know that, then it makes sense. If not, we assume it's...I'm not sure what. No doubt something fairly deep. We are a weird species! x That's my homemade psychoanalysis done for the day 🙂

Something similar In the pipeline for a while. McCallum a significant investment for Norwich in context. Very much aligned with the model. Byram also a good player, notwithstanding injury concerns which were clearly factored in. Within these parameters Lewis is both poster boy for the methodology - again advertising à la Maddison the clear and exciting development and playing time pathway that Norwich offer the best young prospects - and also clearly replaceable (in fact already replaced). Given the financial limits of the Club’s ownership structure, that surely is optimum management? As for Jamal deliberately opting for a lower option than Liverpool. No. The ‘best’ team in the world want you? 5 times your salary? Champions League? Maybe 15-20 games a season? (And every player with a bit about them and on the way up thinks they’ll smash it in training and be a first choice regular, be made Captain and lift the Champions League trophy in front of 100k at the Nou Camp..why else dedicate your entire life to it?) Norwich can also put Norwich-to-Champions-League-winners on their pathway CV as the next Jamal visits Colney. Powerful stuff. Parma

We were in the Championship at the time and they moved to Premier League clubs. I really don't know why we hold a grudge against young men who are only trying to further their careers.

Imagine we’d spent that money on signing Fahrmann, Amadou, Roberts and Duda permanently! there would be riots in the streets by now! Have to say proud of the way our club has gone about things. Our way with intelligence, imagination, opportunity and development. Football is about football and not money. Not following the standard practices but thinking for ourselves. OTBC
