Is it in the Lake District ?

Not sure about that, I can think of at least three chances you would have expected him to take (Wolves, Bournemouth and tonight) but did not, earlier in the season he would have taken them (I think the MOTD pundits made a similar point after the Wolves game). Not having a go at Teemu, I just think he has not quite got his mojo back after his injury........

It is no exaggeration to say that I genuinely fear for the the human race when I read things as stupid as these. Does Farke have faults? Yes. Should he (in my opinion) bring subs on earlier? absolutely. Do I think he is a poor manager who is completely out of his depth? Of course not, I am not mentally challenged. What exactly did some of you expect? to waltz into european qualifcation? What realistic manager could we get who is even half as good as Farke? Maybe we should see if Sir Alex fancies coming out of retirement to take to take us to untold glory? I really, really despair at the over reaction. We win a game "WE'RE THE BESTEST EVER IN THE WORLD. We lose a game "WE WONT GET ANOTHER POINT, SACK THE MANAGER, THE PLAYERS AND EVERYONE ELSE". Jesus.

Really think he is becoming a poor manager who is completely out of his depth. He is just not thinking about the game situation, seeing what is happening and taking the needed action to rectify things. Absolute diabolical use (or non-use) of subs. 6 minutes of added time and we still tippy tappy about in our own half. He's the man on the touch line and I assume he can shout.

Couldnt agree more KIO, just wish it would end NOW.

I'm not going to get angry about it, I'm not going to blame anyone, but we are just not good enough for this league. It is what it is.... there will be another season next year.

Still need Spurs to have a bad game for us to come away with anything but surely we can get at that back 4 a bit.

Jools, you won, you don't need to keep on lying.

Spurs were there for the taking tonight, just like so many teams who have comfortably beaten us this season. We are the worst team in this division without question. Players not good enough. Manager nowhere near good enough as he proved with yet another display of woeful game management. Board not good enough. Club not good enough.

We did exactly the same last season, but that was seen as evidence of how we stuck to our principles and didn’t abandon our way of playing. This season we go 2-1 down to Spurs (note, Spurs, not Millwall) and it’s “why dunt we kick it long Neeyul?”.

Farke has had a lack of transfer funds, and therefore has a lack of decent options for changing a game. But Cantwell had a poor game and looked like he was a candidate for a red card, Duda was anonymous, Farke did have Hernandez on the bench. It is remarkable to me that he waited for us to concede before making that change, and then felt compelled to take off our defensive screen (which led to Spurs dominating the entire 6 minutes of injury time, because we couldn't get the ball off them). Game management is atrocious, has been all season. The mitigating circumstances don't change that. Perhaps, like Moritz Lietner, he looks excellent in the Championship but out of his depth in the Premier League. Perhaps not spending money on a squad managed by somebody so inexperienced and tactically limited is a shrewd decision!

Is this a heresy? Pukki is not sharp enough recently. We are not converting enough of our chances.
  13. 2 points
Backwards, sideways then give the ball away just about sums it up.

In this style of play I actually think we are playing to our full potential. Which isn't good enough.

Sorry but if you win the Champions League, Premier League and World Club Cup within the space of 12 months then you are a great team. Period. Liverpool are currently the best team in the world.

Disagree - VAR is not a great idea. If it is used as intended - so that EVERY decision of note is the correct one, it sterilises the game and robs us of those moments we go to games to see, which are usually at least contributed to by the human error of the referees and assistants. We may as well watch two teams of evenly matched robots in different coloured shirts. Just imagine - No England World Cup win in 1966; no "Hand of God" in 1986; No "did it cross the line" v Germany; No Thierry Henry handball for France against Ireland in the playoff; no Simeon Jackson winner against Derby. You really want all those moments to never happen again? So we have nothing to talk about? No disagreements? I hate it with a passion.

I know football is all about opinions but this is close to being perverse! Cantwell was constantly on the front foot throughout the game and in the last five minutes, when several others were flagging, he twice drove deep into opposition territory and won us a corner and a free kick. His energy levels never dropped from where I sat. the last two appearances from Onel have been his usual mixture of exhilarating and frustration. I can certainly see why he didn't come on today.

That's just a weird post in my eyes Il Pirata. In the last 10 minutes of today's game Cantwell (more than any other Norwich player) stepped up to the plate and saw us across the line. He was still putting in 100% effort - making forward runs and defending from the front. He won us a crucial late corner with a great piece of skill and robbed Adam Smith on the half way line and drove forward leading Smith to cynically hack him down and get booked. (Both these bits of play took vital time off the clock and got us on the front foot late in the game).

Need to win 6 games. On paper we wouldn’t have said Spurs was one of them. Having said that gutted we didn’t get at least a draw, however it has proven to me that we are good enough at this level because we created so many chances to have won the game. If we can keep this going until the end of the season then we’ve got a chance.

Ridiculous Saha pushes a Southampton player in the face no red card ( apparently he didn’t do it very hard - didn’t think that mattered ) David Luiz genuine attempt to get ball, penalty given, double jeopardy rule should apply, but VAR decide they won’t bother with that rule and send him off. Henderson moves miles before Man City penalty, but VAR can’t look at that, yet they can look at a millimetre of somebodies toe encroaching. Tyrone Mings already booked and commits a deliberate handball. Would have been a second yellow but VAR not allowed to intervene unless it’s a straight red. What is the point.

Can’t argue with that statement. It will be such a shame though to see this squad broken up after the hope of last summer.
  28. 1 point
I'll be very interested to see what happens in the summer either way, but nothing is going to happen until the season's finished (assuming we don't sell anyone in January, which I doubt we will). Between now and May we've got 14 league matches, plus a potential cup run, so I'll keep focusing on those. I'm not daydreaming about the tantalising possibility of staying up; I just accept that there is a tiny chance it could happen. It's a pretty mathematical outlook rather than an emotional one.

Farke got it wrong tonight. Cantwell was dead on his feet with 25 minutes left to play. He should have been taken off. His lack of tracking back meant they got round the back of us and scored the winner. Watch the reply. He just jogs back behind the player with the ball. He did the exact same thing moments before. He should have been subbed.

Our game management is diabolical. 6 minutes added time and we are still stroking the ball along the back line as if we are 4-0 up
  31. 1 point
Mourinho made subs at 52 mins, 62 mins, and 75 mins. We wait until we've lost the game to make ours. Is this a German thing? Or a Farke thing?

This is better from us, lets keep this up!

Tettey isn't consistently good enough for this level anymore. He's just not mobile enough and his passing under pressure is poor. This is where you have to look at the Amadou situation and wonder if he should have been used more, so that he could've been a credible option at this point of the season. Week in, week out, with Tettey, isn't where we should be now.

  38. 1 point
Yes it's a combination of things isn't it... I must say th confidence being shot is one of the most underestimated reasons we've been losing. I agree with those that say we don't have enough quality and depth in the squad ... Injury crisis makes that painfully evident This evening might have a surprise for us to enjoy , but the PL up till now has been mostly harsh reality ... Another Man City like upset? I hope so , but I don't think so

And world club champions too, not sure how anyone can say anything other than how well Klopp and Liverpool have done, playing great football and I believe their net spend is very good compared to the likes of Man City, United, Spurs. .. Congratulations to them.

As ever, statistic's present a different angle and make for some interesting reading. However, they can overshadow what actually happens. They are very black and white, and often fail to accurately represent or quantify dynamic factors such as players roles with systems and their effect on the team as a whole. I certainly don't need statistics to disprove what I saw from Cantwell at Bournemouth (A), Everton and Leicester, where he noticeably faded around the 60-70 minute mark. As I've said before, this is probably to do with the amount of work he does earlier in the game. You might argue that he consistently covers more ground than most, and stats probably back this up. But I saw him a yard slower to the ball, out of position more often, and less effective in possession - of which stats will not show. This isn't a Cantwell bash by the way!

Another thing to bear in mind is the bag policy. Those of you who went to Old Trafford will know that it wasn't permitted to take any sort of handbag into the stadium and they wanted a fiver to store it for you during the game. I therefore checked the Spurs policy and it's here: https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/the-stadium/plan-your-visit/key-information/bag-policy/ Mine is smaller than a piece of A4 so I'm counting on it being OK. I get why they do this, particularly in Manchester after whats happened there in recent years, but it wouldn't do any harm to publicise it a bit more. I had no idea when I turned up at Old Trafford and it was a pain.

It's not going to settle down until they change how it is being used. Having looked at the Henderson thing, you don't even need VAR to see it and yet as others have mentioned we've been subject to the most absurd forensic decisions; either it's the letter of the law all the time or decisions are taken with a bit of contextual sense. It's unbalanced any other way. Fun fact if I heard correctly on commentary tonight, Carrow Road was the first ground in England to see a red card overturned (Basham, Sheffield Utd) and also saw the first time the pitchside monitor was used to make a decision in a PL game (Godfrey sending off). Aren't we lucky

Thanks Herman - still need all the ones in my above post - struggling to find any stock and use my vouchers - not helped by not living in Norfolk. Happy to cover your costs in posting this out and make a suitable contribution to you or alternatively one of the charities suggested by others (CSF?)

It’s obviously not consistent for people though. It might be just luck but some seem to think they have a way of making it work. I think I’ve tried for five and got three.

We are as good if not better than last season. The problem is the opposition is much superior.

Pace, athleticism and quick reactions count for so much in football. The reason Godfrey will go to a top club for a lot of money is that he has those in spades as well as being a technically gifted player. Hanley and to a lesser extent Zimm don't. Often an amazing block or tackle from those two will only happen because they were half a yard behind in the first place. Godfrey would probably have comfortably got to the ball first and dealt with the situation. Most of his errors have been being done by clever movement from top strikers, which unfortunately comes with the territory for a young defender. Once he's learned to anticipate those little tricks he'll be a full international player.

Exactly. Also, dont worry DCB, literally NO ONE thinks you're guilty of looking at things through 'green and yellow tinted glasses'
