If nothing else he came from a team with a winning mentality - we need that. What a rubbish decision from the club who are having one of the worst summers I can remember. Awful window so far - we are going backwards not forwards and are clearly so broke we need Plymouth’s million more than a massively exciting up and coming player who plays with creativity on the wing- a position we admit we are short in. It is no great shock excitement isn't high. We finished last season very poorly. We've since let pur talismanic top scorer leave. We're also very open about how we'd happily sell our two best young home grown prospects. Most aren't sold on the head coach who hasn't seen much success since about 2018. In the door we've had some solid meat and potatoes type signings who were needed but don't get the pulses racing. The one interesting signing we've made got injured before he could even get a minute in pre season. So we're looking for reasons to be excited about this team. One of them was having a player coming back to us off the back of an excellent season in the league below but he's been sold. So we're left either waiting for a couple of sales that might unlock funds for some more exciting moves or spending the 2nd summer in a row convincing ourselves that this is the season Rashica or Tzolis come good. Its slim pickings right now.

Seems to be fairly predictable response in general. General feeling for the last couple of seasons has been 'What is Mumba's best position?'. Yes, he has a decent turn of pace, a good engine and some trickery. He was signed as a full back that had also played defensive midfield. So he was ok going forward and another full back we had who was questionable in actual defending. In many ways it makes perfect sense he suited playing as a wing back so well based on what we knew. You don't have to be great at either, but good at both. What we already know is that he isn't 'creative' in the way Dowell, Cantwell, Buendia or even Stiepermann were/are. That's what we are lacking. There is still much more movement in terms of ins and outs yet to come, I'm not going to really care until we get closer to knowing what this squad looks like. Mumba looked promising. But that was in the same team Vs Bournemouth in the cup that Tzolis and Sargent stole the show. Not enough to get worked up and irate about just yet IMHO. At least Stacey brings in height and strength.

Perfect timing, I was hoping for an example of the stupidity that allows the media to shape the narrative. They couldn't get away with it without a plentiful supply of weak-minded fools like yourself.

Branston Pickle ordered the pork scratchings and unfortunately they are squirrel scratchings but they are scratchings so what are you moaning about? It’s just a minor detail, god. Stop moaning.

Cobblers, and we did indeed have free ports in this country whilst in the EU but the Tory government did away with them in 2012. Because despite all the b*ll*cks we heard about them then, and we are now hearing about them again now, they were abandoned because it had been clearly demonstrated that whilst all the subsidies and tax incentives had a small positive effects in those very limited locations it was almost entirely at the expense of negatively impacting businesses outside the zones, and that the overall impact of freeports on our economy as a whole were negative rather than positive. It will be similar but even worse this time - Brexit benefit my @rse!!

I've said this already on the forum but, honestly, Stacey's signing (brilliant) and Fisher stepping up has made Mumba surplus to requirements and I'm pretty sure the 1m plus (possibly) lots of add on clauses will prove to be a good move. People on here are getting way too emotional about Mumba. He clearly didn't want to be here. Good luck to him, but we're covered in that area.

Can't wait for the start of the season and to walk into Carrow Road for the first time this summer. It might be a dreadful season as many are predicting, but many of them predicted it in Farke's first title win season. They predicted in when they ripped up season tickets in front of Bryan Gunn etc etc. No-one knows, that's the reality. I like that.

Thanks GMF, we’ve talked this to death, reality from your fantastic contribution (purple too) is we are in a transition at owner level, MA is invested now, he bought out Foulger, naught a seat on the board and invested / loaned the club 10 million too. The club has raised the prospect of offering an additional (nearly) 200,000 shares to allow, we believe to be MA, (but in reality if other parties are interested could buy these) for a negotiated price as no set precedent set on the current price. Thus legal teams from both sides are now in communication to thrash out a way forward. Once this process has been completed then the legalities tied to minority share holders will be set into action. If no agreement is reached the additional shares can be withdrawn and the current situation carries on till other events happen in the future! We can all sit back, talk about it on here and be amicable, the personal views of those involved is something none of us know and should be kept out of this debate as we really don’t know! Again for me I’d love to see a new owner, I believe we need it as a club, we need to think of future expansion or a move to a bigger stadium, we need to encourage the next generation into our club and we need to make it a place we want to attend every game! Lastly I don’t really know anyone else bar Essex who wants anything but the best for our club and I’ve never expected any return on my investments into this club in the past, I feel it’s always been my community I live in and want to be part of. Not on match days anymore as I’ve done that for forty years and I’ve moved my Saturdays to do other things. But I still attend games when I can and follow the club with support to charity events in on this forum. It’s a choice not a profit maker for me!

I know it's preseason but it's quits funny they managed to lose two separate pre season games today vs League One sides. Losing twice in one day takes some doing.

A better solution would be for S&J to step down.

Yes, it's fairly obvious that a club of our stature should be signing and developing the best young players from the leagues below us. Remind me again where we signed Maddison, Godfrey and Aarons from. It's exactly what we've done so successfully over the last decade.

Only thing that matters in the opening game is the win, but England's worrying lack of cutting edge in 2023 has continued into the World Cup.

My neighbour, a single lady, bought some rattan garden furniture during the dry spell. I assembled it for her and told her it would upset the balance. The rotation of my screwdriver would cause El Nino. Since then it has rained virtually every day. I won't publish her address as she is a nice lady and I don't want her to get hate mail.

@Branston Pickle - quite right to point out the error of date. But perhaps the phrase “not a hanging offence” isn’t really appropriate here…

So, let's get this straight... we have a player who does well in a pre-season game or two and only has non-league experience, and this means we're "covered in that position". However, the player playing competitive football, getting promoted to the championship and winning POTS awards is "surplus to requirements". Some of the logic in this thread beggars belief.

Oh shut the f*** up you womble. Who even says that on this thread? It’s not relevant whatsoever, but don’t let that stop you trying to be funny unsuccessfully as per. Buh makes a very salient point about the gap in the countries investing in it and those not as to the big disparity in standard. The rugby union World Cup isn’t a far cry from this tbh.

I'm on about Tory 2017 manifesto pledges, of which, only half were fulfilled -- It wasn't until a majority voted for the cons again in 2019 when they finally realised they'd better get on with implementing Brexit. It was common knowledge then that the establishment didn't want to leave the EU and it's common knowledge now that the lib/lab/con don't want to deal with immigration. The country needs a true Conservative Party.

Lion and Castle Lager, Camden Hells Lager and East Coast IPA at the bar and on the beer wall Estrella and a Wolf Brewery Session IPA - no idea what the cost was at the bar (as we got our first pint free with our ticket) but the wall beers were around £5.80ish. The lounge area is a vast improvement - a bit in the industrial warehouse feel of the Brewdog on Queen Street. The beer wall was interesting - there are two walls (one at either end of the lounge) with 7 taps on each wall. The self-service wasn't available yesterday but should speed things up on matchdays and result in a very sticky floor!

I am not qualifying our current wingers talent. I am just saying we have options. And another option was to sell Mumba because he was neither a full back or winger. And you forget Rashica is our player. Hopefully both clubs will compromise and we will sell him.

You've obviously confused me with someone else. Unsurprising for someone clearly in a perpetual state of confusion.

Our other options are Hernandez, Placheta, Tzolis, Rowe and Springett, if you don't include Sainz who is out for three months. I'd say that the wings are our weakest position right now, so it isn't exactly a high bar.

All I've done is list some facts. 1) I don't know if he's good enough because I've not watched him enough (praise to you for taking the time to watch 20 + Plymouth matches again). 2) No other club in the league felt the need to come in for Mumba for a higher fee. The rest is all conjecture. As for Webber, having met him a few times now, he's been pleasant every time and clearly has exceptional football knowledge. 10 minutes discussing football with him and you'd know. Again, I go by my own personal experiences rather than what angry old men on a forum say. 🙂

Expectation Management. Do not expect very much and then you will not be disappointed when we finish in the bottom half of the Championship. But taking a quick reality check and you will acknowledge that little has changed at Carrow Road that would engender optimism for the upcoming season. Same Head Coach, same Sporting Director (now working his notice) and the same owners. We all travel in hope but I suspect that we will struggle from the opening game to the last.

On the face of it, a curious decision. A young, exciting player that many expected much from. A very successful loan spell during the previous season, leading to multiple awards. Comments from the manager that he is part of his plans for the new season. Surely exactly the kind of attacking threat we need to instill some energy in our team (he's a left sided attacker for me, not a full back)? However. We clearly need money in, to spend money out. 4 free transfers demonstrate this as well as Anthony Richen's comments last season on player trading. By now, I think most of us expected one of Max, Rashica or Omo to be gone...but for whatever reason, it's not happening. That then holds up to a certain degree the acquisition of players we want to buy, as some money will always be needed up front. With 4 left sided attackers (Argos, the Greek boy blunder, the Polish road runner and Mumba) we seem well stocked in that area (!). So if the club gets a decent bid for one of them, well then off you trot. From my perspective - a real shame as after an excellent season at Plymouth, I would have liked to see what the lad could have done for us. I wish him well. OTBC

Easily explained, he wasn't given the bicycle he voted for, it was the wrong type of ramp and the EU made the fire to punish him.

Yes but isn’t the lack of goals from Pukki a factor for us finishing mid table? I’m not sure this is a positive, is it? Do you think Barney’s can score 20 + goals in this coming season?

I could think of worse summers than bringing in two premier league players and one experienced striker stop being so wet

I'm claiming that one, I've been watching over an hour and then got fed up so turned it off. The missus walked in and seeing the blank screen said "has it started raining?" and I said, "Nope, I'm turning it off in the hope that it means I missed a wicket"; lo and behold just a few minutes later, bye bye Smith!

Was looking forward to the Division One Young Player of the season coming back to help us. Seems a daft short term cash flow decision by someone on a short term leaving period. Looking forward to the "He wanted to go we couldn't keep him" usual trotted out communication. But hey we signed a 16yr Scottish kid yesterday and they always work out...

Not sure why this is creating such up roar on here. Yes he had a very good season in league one but I'm not convinced he is up to the standard we need for the Championship. Certainly not as a full back where I dont think he has the required defensive capabilities or the physique. He came to us from Sunderland I think and was struggling to get in there team in league one and was sent on loan. Stacey looks like an excellent signing and I expect Mumba is pushing for the move because he wants to play first team football and not just be a temp stand in at wing or full back. It could be one we live to regret but for me it seems unfair on him not to let him go to Plymouth

Back to CCHQ for some more fine-tuning for you. The best outcome for both the left and the country is a Labour minority government propped up by a Lib Dem party who have the spine to make PR it's price. Then socialists can take their support to an actual socialist party who can build from a solid base. I suspect the Labour Party would eventually disintegrate in its current guise as their "vote us, we're not the Tories" ceases to be relevant.
