Whatever your thoughts on his time at NCFC I'm sure we all wish him well in his fight, all the best Shakey

Bristol Museum has a good explanation at the entrance telling you of where the funds came from, who the Wills family were and not sugar coating the history. I suppose it is the best way of doing it.

This does have a certain beauty, though. Very delicately placed over Seaman's head.

I realise that you're trying to be funny and make a joke of it but I still can't understand. Do you really not give a sh*t enough to actually read anything anyone posts and just knee-jerk reaction to everything?

I know some will disagree with us here, but the drum was massively missing on Saturday. You might not like it, but it is remarkably effective about keeping a small band of brothers, us happy few, a noisy as the home crowd, usually noisier. Saturday was a cauldron of sound from the Coventry sides, and much as we tried, we had no answer to it. The drum might have helped.

I'm of the, possibly naive, view that neither side adequately represents either the Israeli people or the Palestinians. Murdering children at gunpoint or via bombing/starvation means neither side holds the moral high ground, in my opinion.

Here's some history: Oct 1984: Main Stand burned down. At this point Chase was a Director (& largest shareholder) but Arthur South was Chairman Sept 1985: Tender for replacement stand accepted from R G Carter. The new stand was to cost almost exactly what the insurance payout had been. Sept 1985: Jimmy Jones resigned from the Board, protesting that selection of Carter had been done without "proper financial prudence". [There may also have been a personal relationship between Arthur South & 'widow' Carter at the time] Nov 1985: Contract for new stand signed with Carter. Jones then called for an EGM and, as a result, the entire Board resigned. Dec 1985: A new Board was proposed. This excluded South but included Chase, Jimmy Jones & Roger Munby. Jan 1986: The new Board was voted in by shareholders. The Board voted Chase as Chairman. [Details sourced from 'The Archive', by James Woodrow. Every serious City fan should own a copy]

If they lit the arch for every terrorist attack in the Middle East it would be changing colour every week. Also more Palestinian civilians have now been killed in the latest flare than Israeli ones, therefore picking sides would be rather stupid for the FA. A minutes silence is much more appropriate

Of course they can be caught but no denying they are the two best sides in this division thus far and catching them means either or both need to have a quite lengthy loss of form of course. Writing this purely as a football fan and realist Town were always, at some point, going to have a period where they overtook us but the question remains for how long and what will be the gulf between the two clubs...remembering how long we lauded it over them and that they spent four seasons in L1. The gulf in class between L1 and the Championship is miniscule compared to the chasm between Champs and Premier...just look how Burnley ran away with the Champs title yet they and the other two promoted sides already find themselves in the bottom four of the Premier. So should Town actually get promted to the big league they will have deserved it and brought fast delight to their long suffering fans but with or without their current boss they may finally find out for themselves how tough the Prem is nowadays and its been decades since last they were there.

It seems from the Covid enquiry today, that at one point Carrie was doing the job of PM making the decisions. And there I was complaining I didn’t vote for Sunak and Truss.

If you are going to light the arch then is has to be both Israel and Palestine to acknowledge the suffering of both.

I would bet on England winning still. Fiji have changed their style and that will help England defend better against a more forwards style of play. Rugby, like football, has trends and fashions unless you have a golden generation like Ireland still have. NZ do not see forward domination as crucial. Win their own ball and their talented backs will do the rest. SA like to dominate their opposition with relentless pressure on the ball carrier and set pieces. France have the two best half backs who dictate play. England have very little to praise. A back line that would rather try and go through you than round you and a forward pack that has no discipline. Farell can kick but will never make a break. Ditto with Ford and Smith tries to run but isn't good enough. Our own Ben Youngs was a good scrum half but never great and he has well over 100 caps. Even a poor team can have a good day but its like football that the team who times their form who have the best chances. But England have shown no form yet.

The one mission we all have, left, centre, liberal and small c conservative is to get rid of this government before they turn this country into another Hungary or worse. We'll have to sort out our differences once they've gone and gone for good.

Rowe, like Omo, has hardly hatched. Selling him, like the sale of AO, will be premature in all ways apart from addressing the need to balance the books. Things can only get better.

That would be me as well, depending on the grounds. Been to Branitz Park in Germany twice, still not gone into the castle itself yet. Then again, Prince Hermann of Pückler-Muskau was easily one of the real characters of 19th century German history and a landscape gardener of considerable repute. And in creating the gardens here, he decided to pay homage to his time in Egypt by having two earth pyramids made, one on land and the other in the middle of a lake dug out. The lake one is now his mausoleum with his ashes in an urn buried within it. EDIT: Photos from late October 2022.

I seem to have inadvertently ruined Dylan's thread here so I'll put a question in. Here's an old football stadium. Which football team used to play there? (Bonus point if you get the name of the stadium).

I'm afraid you're being a bit naive. Firstly, HMRC is required to report cases of this sort to the CPS and they alone decide whether to prosecute. I would imagine the CPS thought that Eccleston would be given a custodial sentence because he had been caught stealing more money than anyone in British history. I don't blame them, it was a conclusion that most right minded people would make. If financial penalties worked for tax evasion there wouldn't be any tax evasion. They don't work because the evaders know that in the unlikely event they get caught they will just get a fine. Unless you can convince people it's not worth the risk they'll carry on doing it.

Both of which are pretty much white elephants these days. A lot of clubs developed completely new stadiums fit for the modern game while we are stuck with the toytown City Stand.

I keep him guessing too. As for Chase being the most significant person in our history… We’re a football club. One of the many great players who played for us would be far more significant than any ‘suit’.

We can't send anything else, Ukraine has it. Isn't it wonderful that we still want to be so important. It has nothing to do with humanity, its all about the old Empirical attitudes of our Government.

You really are an absurdity. Nobody on here supports Hamas and everybody feels nothing but outrage for what happened. However, unless you still want to stay in the biblical old testament bronze age mode with it's genocides I suggest you grow up. This is the time for true friends of Israel to offer it cool, candid support and advice as it threatens to lash out in understood pain. Simply making a bad situation worse, falling into the Hamas 'trap' will not help. It might make you feel better though it seems.
