Liz Truss - a Norwich fan who couldn't cut it in the Premiership; who'd have thought it?
  2. 7 points
Could we send Smith to Villa and have Emi back instead of them paying us compensation. I'm only asking for 27000 friends

Dead man walking at Villa, a few of their fans seem to want Smith back. PPPPPLLLLLLLEEEEEAAAAASSSSSEEEEEE🙏🙏🙏

44 days. Shortest lived PM in history and she managed to wreak absolute havoc. To tank the economy and people's futures in the way she has done is criminal. Never thought I'd see a worse PM than Boris, but he's not even the worst one of this year. Pathetic. Whoever takes over has absolutely zero mandate from the electorate. Any Tories with a shred of integrity recognise the need for an immediate GE, but they won't because they're a bunch of sef-serving lickspittles who are only interested in their own interests, and not the country's. This is the worst Parliament (on all sides of the fence) in living memory.

All true. Plus, when Nunez arrived he was hitting forty yard cross field balls and full of energy. He is now reduced to ten yard sideways and backward passes as a cog in a unit and all the joy has been sucked out of his game to the point where he is withdrawn at half time. Likewise with Sara. If we wanted someone with the ability to pass a ball ten yards I'm sure there are cheaper candidates in the lower divisions that we could have signed. Instead we have swept the south American continent to turn signees into robots.

What is the bigger picture? We have spent 3 of the last seven seasons in the EPL yet in terms of personnel we are going backwards. We have received roughly £160M in parachute payments. Two of our most expensive signings are out on loan. We bring a loan player who hasn't played a full half of football and we are now a third of the way through the season. We have nobody left coming through who we can sell for £15-£25M. We displayed our loyalty to arguably our best ever coach by sacking him a day after winning and bringing a coach who had just been sacked. Yet still want supporters to show the same loyalty and to accept below par performance as anything other than a retrograde step. That is the bigger picture, not this blind loyalty and belief that if you dare to criticise the board, coach or players you are disloyal and a NINO.

It seems that our increasingly unpopular head coach likes to put an alternative spin on our games. Each time we lose there's a somewhat fantasy based response about how we actually deserved to win according to the statistics or the referee was actually Vladimir Putin or Kenny McLean's MD 2020 was spiked with testosterone at half time etc. Well, I think it's time we started calling out these delusions. Let's call them Dean's Myths and keep a record of them here in this thread.

If Villa offered him the job and he wanted it, then I'd wish him well after the totally unreasonable disrespect he has had from some Norwich fans.

I’d swap Gerrard for Smith tomorrow. Villa are the club that like to believe they’re huge, like Leeds, but reality is other clubs have moved past them and they’re always going to be mid to lower table with the occasional relegation. After watching the last three games live at Carrow Road on live on TV we’ve certainly not improved in any way in the past ten months.

Sorry I don’t do Trumpism anymore. Yes parts of what ‘ was ‘ happening was a world thing. What happened ‘ recently ‘ to trash our economy was a Truss thing.

May was a decent woman who had the bad luck to become PM at a time it was impossible for anyone to be a good PM. She then got badly shafted by her own party over something she did not even want in the first place. She's been a pretty decent back bencher since I will give her that

Quite like it. But we all know we'll have to be 2-0 down before we see that.

As the Financial Report came out that day it was probably an accounting disagreement . Perhaps the cause was the merits of various financial ratios. The heavy set guy on the left favoured liquidity, the more rangy fellow in the dark coat won’t have anything other than debt to equity . It’s a common bone of contention at games , and feelings can run high.

Wow, no hindsight/cherry picking here, is there. We had a year of people ‘bored’ with Farke’s tactics taking us nowhere, and calling for him to be binned. Then at the start of the following season because we didn’t start well.

In bocca al lupo 🦮@Jellytot….marvellous genes 🧬…👌🤗✨🥰…e tutti i voi PUPetti ✨🦮 Had a wonderful week in Rome with La figlia mia, so think it is a great week for daughters ✨💪🏽👍🏽❤️ Bit early for me this week, though out on a double date with Mx Parma tomorrow, so here’s the provisional: Eendracht Aalst W vs Club Brugge W - Away win 🏆 As for Indy’s Norwich bet I predict utter complete doom, disaster failure, plagues, locusts and other **** 🤣🤣🤣..so tricast of: BTTS no, NORWICH to lose, Pukki to leave for Ipswich, Smith to get a 10-year rolling contract, Shakespeare to write sonnets, Webber to play himself at left back 👌🤗💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽 Oh go on then, Sargent to score 🤗 Parma

As mentioned before, the club has recruited multiple forecasters in recent times. There will be a huge number of ‘what if’ spreadsheets that are here-and-now, soon, quite soon, next window, multiple windows, with Pukki, without Pukki, If Omobamidele sold, If Omobamidele sold for x squared, if Max injured to contract end, who replaces who, what they might costs, how it might be paid, what wages they might get, what bonuses, all multiplied by ‘events dear boy, events’… ….thus the short terms loans are supported by a vast array of variable ever-moving forecasts. Keeping on top of this - with the Head Coach popping his head round every 5 minutes saying ‘I’ve got my old mate x on the phone, he says we can have y in January if we do z and pay z2 via z3 terms…’ - is thus a full time job for multiple people. The answer therefore to ‘Can we buy x?’ is ‘’if we do y’….’’which changes z’ and we forecast all over again…. Aah the forecasting joy of ‘self-funding’ at the eternal breadline… Parma

OMFG. IM SEEING BON IVER ON MONDAY!!!! Feels like it's been a lifetime coming around. I booked tickets about a year ago and since then I've had the most insanely difficult year with my partner's mum going from perfectly fine to dying 4 months later, a toxic ex, and moving 80 miles - new job, new house etc. Basically every kind of stress that could have happened, has happened. I am so excited for this gig, its going to be so good. Feels like I've earned this one!

Norwich have - as many other clubs do - in effect taken out a mortgage on future premier receipts (the parachute payments). Instead of waiting for that cash to arrive - on a date proscribed by the PL - they have got most of it in cash now from a finance house that will make a percentage return on the process. This is reasonably standard practice in Football. It can either be used to front load a huge investment upon promotion, or to - in many ways quite prudently - ensure a decent, even and positive cash flow when costs are high, then simply tighten belts later (upon relegation) when income takes a dramatic drop. This is the real answer to ‘where’s the money gorn Neil?’….in that the amounts talked about for transfers - out as well as in - do not come in on the day the Sun writes the headline figure (which may or may not include contingencies, spread payments, bonuses et al). Cash and profits and costs and transfer receipts and transfer spends and timings of all of those in-out is a moving feast that has to be managed within your financial limits (your cash available, your overdraft facility, your access to more shareholder funds). It is a perfectly conceivable scenario to run out of cash having sold your best player the day before for a fortune. It depends what cash you had in hand before, what your costs and debts are and when you’re going to get the money for your star you just sold. Norwich have ‘borrowed’ in advance on monies they are sure of getting tomorrow, next month or next year (s). Parma post script: I think it should be pointed out - if there is any doubt or confusion - that Norwich have not (on the surface) done what Leeds allegedly did some years ago and borrowed against future (possible) gate receipts or (possible) success. Nor have they ‘done a Barcelona’ and sold shares-income streams from parts of their brand-business.

I’d had the same jabs as you before and also Covid itself back in March this year. From this jab I had a sore arm for a couple of days but no other side effects. I’m a massive supporter of the Covid vaccine- the fact that we’re now back to life as normal in the UK is down to the fantastic vaccine research and implementation by the different companies and also credit in the UK to the NHS staff who’ve given the vaccine to us.

Oh you're joking, does that mean that Dean Smith isn't create a new football club called FC Aston of Villa, too then?! https://news.paddypower.com/football-news/2021/11/11/jack-grealish-and-dean-smith-plot-new-aston-villa-phoenix-club-/

...how imbalanced is this squad Webber has created? Just looking at the midfield I can see 5 separate attacking players who can be best described as 'talented but inconsistent' in Nunez, Dowell, Hernandez, Cantwell and Sinani. We've also got two more that fit that description loaned out and currently sitting on their new clubs benches (Rashica and Tzolis). Add in Sara who clearly is taking his time to adjust and I'm not sure who there is that can be relied upon to deliver creativity with any consistency. Our best weapon this season has been Sargent basically playing as a battering ram. Where is the physicality? Where is the player who can take a game by the scruff of its neck and impose his will? There just isn't anyone. It may be that Nunez and Sara gain consistency as the season goes on but it feels like their is solid chance that will come to little to late. Smith absolutely should be getting more from this team but it is starting to feel like Webber has again failed to address the key needs in the squad.

A lot to come down the line ... privileges, local elections, by-elections. That's before a hard winter of unrest (nurses) and usual winter NHS stories (which we really shouldn't be having). Whoever attempts to manage the UK at the moment has a tough task. That said, this lot have made things far more difficult - much of it self-inflicted. Charles Walker MP was spot on last night stating many are in it for themselves not the country. Even last night senior Tories were at a champagne evening with hedge funders and bankers! So out of touch. It shouldn't be about absolute power for its own sake, for personal careers but about responsibility for the UK. A huge responsibility and trust. Just apologising for the mini budget for example is insufficient. It really is. That apology cannot make up for incompetence. Like a murder, an apology is not satisfactory. In corporate life one would be instantly dismissed. If this PM have had any scruples or honour she would have just resigned immediately. It was her entire agenda! You can't arrive into such a position by having photographs taken and uploaded on Instagram and be serious. It's all about you if you do that. It was all about Johnson before too.

Indeed. Despite the headline ambition across the accounts presentation that the central focus of the club is top level football, it has been entirely clear in recent times that we do not have the financial resources to achieve such ambitions. Indeed our approaches in the last two campaigns have been externally characterised as ‘not trying at all’ (promo 1) and ‘mostly failed loans’ (promo 2). However harsh this may feel internally, it further reflects just how far top level football finance has moved since the Lambert miracle and - empirically - the huge Hughton success that followed. That we have arrived significantly in debt (though it is really mostly mortgaging premier league future income and getting cash-in-hand now), without weapons, playing lower level Premier football-lite, is a product of structural incompatibility with the highest levels of the game - despite it being our clearly expressed raison d’être. So Attanasio. Perfection is certainly not on offer. Though the compromises we make are many now. Parma

You are welcome to believe Smith's arrival was a factor in Attanasio turning up. I am not aware of there being even the slightest connection. And I would be extremely surprised if something as comparitively insignificant in terms of the club's long-term strategy and succession planning as the choice of a new head coach was ever considered. If there was a specific recent factor in moving to get Attanasio on board it would have been the spending associated with the attempt to stay in the Premier League and the knowledge that if that failed, as started to seem likely from early on last season, that the finances would not be terribly healthy, as the accounts have now shown.

We've heard how season ticket holders are voting with their feet for years now. At least in the summer of 2018 they voted with their wallets. But only to change their votes when the half-season tickets were on sale at the end of the year. I still maintain if you can't take the rough with the smooth you're not season ticket material. Season ticket holders used to be made of sterner stuff.

Very long list of managers who'd love to come work with our squad and a sporting director who's last two seasons at this level saw him build title-winning teams.

There may not be enough to overturn the decision but it could make the FA aware of what went on all evening leading up to the incident. That couldn't be a bad thing.

WTF is the OP talking about. We're a big club in a big footballing nation. We're ranking in the top 100 in the recent world club football table. We've been in the biggest global league 5 times in the last 9 seasons? Regular full stadium support (not lately though). Family club who doesn't fire people constantly. Great facilities. Excellent Youth Academy. Norwich would be a huge draw for many coaches / managers across the globe

I've tried to come up with a more brainy explanation but ultimately I think it comes down to this. Ditch the 4-3-3 that has never felt that comfortable, go back to 4-5-1. I'm no Farke fanatic, but just because he is gone doesn't mean looking at what we did right when he was here won't help. For Skipp/ Tettey, see Hayden. McLean, see Gibbs. Nunez the Buendia spot, Sara the Stiepermann role, and Cantwell, well, the Cantwell position. Time to admit that squeezing Pukki and Sarge into the same side hurts them both. Hayden Gibbs Nunez Sara Cantwell Sargent We know these players fit these profiles and we know it works.
