Something similar In the pipeline for a while. McCallum a significant investment for Norwich in context. Very much aligned with the model. Byram also a good player, notwithstanding injury concerns which were clearly factored in. Within these parameters Lewis is both poster boy for the methodology - again advertising à la Maddison the clear and exciting development and playing time pathway that Norwich offer the best young prospects - and also clearly replaceable (in fact already replaced). Given the financial limits of the Club’s ownership structure, that surely is optimum management? As for Jamal deliberately opting for a lower option than Liverpool. No. The ‘best’ team in the world want you? 5 times your salary? Champions League? Maybe 15-20 games a season? (And every player with a bit about them and on the way up thinks they’ll smash it in training and be a first choice regular, be made Captain and lift the Champions League trophy in front of 100k at the Nou Camp..why else dedicate your entire life to it?) Norwich can also put Norwich-to-Champions-League-winners on their pathway CV as the next Jamal visits Colney. Powerful stuff. Parma

Beautifully articulated. So typical, you haven't got the faintest clue what you're talking about, someone questions the rubbish you spout for what it is and all you can do is resort to throwing your toys.

I have heard on the grapevine that Buendia is quite happy to stay but others may be pushing a move.

Its easy to say no to Liverpool - it is not so easy to tell a player that they are stopping him from making a potentially once in a life time move and the player to not kick off about it. How Lewis (and his representatives) react will be the real news to Liverpool’s bid.

I think some on here would see anything less than spending all of our money as lacking ambition and therefore Delia pocketing it all 🤔, irrespective of whether the players coming in are the same or better. Spending lots of money doesn't guarantee quality, we've been there and done that and failed.

Trading insults with insults never helped anyone. Ever. It doesn't even feel good. Having the last word is the same. Conversely, being nice generally does feel good. As for worrying about someone being overly critical or spiteful on here, the only response is to try to understand where it comes from. If you know that, then it makes sense. If not, we assume it's...I'm not sure what. No doubt something fairly deep. We are a weird species! x That's my homemade psychoanalysis done for the day 🙂

You can't help but think and hope the gravy train for footballers is about to come to a grinding halt. But not if Arsenal are anything to go by as they linked with Willian, Coutinho loan and of course they still need to extend the contract of Aubameryang. Contracts are one thing but salaries of the 55 must be peanuts in comparison.

Dutch, you're not new here so what right you think you have using evidence in your posts to support the club god only knows. What we have to do is criticise the club for receiving a bid on a player, for some reason. And then paint some doomsday scenario where selling Lewis means we are selling everyone. Its important at this point to note that Lewis was likely the one we were most willing to sell as we purchased a replacement six months ago and already have another player who took his place last season. But please note that is evidence so can't be used here. DELIA OUT. Lets get a banner or something.

This was one of the first I heard and it sounds a bit depressing. We need to get this sorted or else we are stuck in this crap for a long time.

That’s quite interesting as your post sort of contradicts itself. Lets firstly take Aaron’s, Godfrey and Lewis. They have been regulars in a back 4 for 2 seasons that all I hear is we can’t defend. With one of the best PL keepers behind them we had one of the worst defensive records in PL history. On the one hand I hear we need to improve our defence on the other hand I hear if we sell these 3 players we will be worse defensively. Lets move to Pukki next. Pukki has scored one goal in about 6 months. Had this been anyone else ( Grabban a good example ) the first season and the beginning of this season would have been disregarded. Finally Cantwell and Bundeia. Lots of the people on here that are now telling us no players must be sold were also telling us Cantwell and Bundeia were not good enough ( Cantwell in particular ). Now a player who should never wear the shirt again is suddenly worth 10’s of millions of pounds and despite the abuse he received ( especially after the Wigan game ) people now think he should stay loyal. My view. Yep I feel we have had these guys in the team, but we have had them during their development. These guys will soon be at the next level. I would love that to be here next year, but alas I feel it won’t happen as these guys have had a taste and want more of the higher level. Can they be replaced with better ? Better than what ? Better than what they have been or better than they will be ? If it’s better than they have been ( Cantwell and Bundeia aside ) absolutely. We already have plenty at the club that could do that. Better than what they will be, probably not, but then don’t all players need to make the next move to get better. So if Pukki stays will he start scoring for fun again - who knows. If Aaron’s, Godfrey and Lewis stay are they going to become toP defenders next year or is it likely to be the season after. In fact will Lewis even get to play should Byram be fit. - Who knows. My belief is that Bundeia and Cantwell will tear the Championship apart, but the players we have been signing may equally tear the championship apart, that’s decisions for the likes of Farke to make. If these players indicate they want out surely it is pointless trying to force them to stay. Can you imagine Bundeia being told he can’t move ? Yes I know he shouldn’t have signed a long term contract but a contract these days protects the club as much as it does the player. So to finish personally I trust Webber to rebuild, in fact it should be very exciting. However to do that successfully anyone that cannot commit 100 % needs to be moved on and quickly. I have my tin hat on at the ready.

The only reason Liverpool have come in with a low offer so publicly is to unsettle Lewis. They knew it would get batted away immediately. Liverpool have a habit of conducting their business very openly, knowing they have huge pulling power and it’s the best way to drive down fees. It’s not in Liverpool’s interest for the deal to be done quietly as they aren’t worried about anyone else being able to turn Lewis’ head away from them.
  17. 2 points
Wtf is the NI manager on - he’s ‘excited’ at the prospect of Lewis going to Liverpool...I get that it’s good to have your players playing as high a level as possible, but he’d be a perennial benchwarmer, so how on earth does that benefit his country? What a fool. Liverpool are clearly playing on their standing to turn Lewis’s head/get him to throw his toys around. IMO he’s decent but not that great (yet) but they can sod right off if they think they should get him on the cheap - they are a wealthy side and should pay the going rate. I’d love for another side to come in and have a higher offer accepted.

I hope we play hardball with Liverpool. They have done well in recent years at getting top money for their players, but they spent a net £127 million on players in 2018/19 and £400 million gross in the last 4 years. Notwithstanding Covid, they are the Champions and have to expect to pay top dollar for players.

I have had a definite belief that a move for Jamal has been in train ever since we signed McCallum. It's been clear he was likely to be sold. Jamal and folk at the club have known about it. The Liverpool talk has been around ever since January. I'm quite sure the two clubs will have been in contact. Once one leaves then you'd imagine the other young stars would want a piece of the action, not a re-run of a season in the Championship? It's a natural progression for them and the club.

oh dear they have a debt of over £100m a wage bill of £110m and as of June 2019 transfer payments outstanding of £79m they do not own their ground, and can only raise ticket sales on 11,000 and they are in the same boat as us ! gawd save us from idiots 🤪

If you're consistently pulling something, it might not be the advice you want to hear, but I'd strongly urge you to see a physio, especially as you've got the same injury twice. There's a fair chance you could have muscle imbalances due to previous injuries that make it a more vulnerable point. I had a problem for some years with my left hip as a side-effect of a litany of ankle ligament injuries in my left ankle. Essentially, in recovering my gait had subconsciously changed somewhat and I started favouring my right leg more, taking the load off the left. The problem was that it weakened all my left leg and particularly the hip flexors. Had a fair old Trendelenburg sign, according to my old physio. A more diligent warm-up could help. I'm quite lucky in that I don't tend to pull much, and also don't tend to warm-up - I'm one of those who just starts his long runs slow then looks to get a move on later on. But my main advice would actually be to see a physio first.

R.I.P National Rifle Association An organisation with a long and honorable history of gun safety and education who morphed into a political animal and shill for gun makers (and also rumored but not proven launderer of Russian monies into Republican political campaigns) No ludicrous addition to the arsenal of private citizens was too much for them, no reasonable regulation that would not be challenged in court and by new State level laws. Hiding under the cloak of the Second Amendment they became a toxic parody of what they claimed to be. And now massive and sustained fraud has been alleged by the State of New York. And why New York? Because they are registered there as a charitable organization. It's the same legal team that got the Trump Organization charity dissolved for similar misuse of charitable funds. https://www.courthousenews.com/ny-sues-to-dissolve-the-nra-accusing-top-execs-of-fraud/ “The NRA’s influence has been so powerful that the organization went unchecked for decades while top executives funneled millions into their own pockets,” James said in a statement this morning. “The NRA is fraught with fraud and abuse, which is why, today, we seek to dissolve the NRA, because no organization is above the law.”

You might, very occasionally, get a 50% of profit sell on clause. But certainly never a 50% of any sell on. It easy for people to come on here and spout unrealistic transfer fees and clauses - largely so they can then criticise the club for not being able to deliver such an unrealistic fee. The reality is that if you refuse to let a player leave due to having unrealistic expectations you don’t just upset that one player, you upset a lot of current players who will feel the club will also stand in their way. It can also make it hard to sign new players, as they won’t want to sign for a club that won’t sell them for a fair price in the future. £10m is obviously under bidding but getting Liverpool up to £20m will be a very tall order.

It's about 17 miles to the sea from my home in Old Catton - I think Sea Palling is the nearest. Woodbastwick and Ranworth are easily reachable on a circuitous route, though, and Wroxham is less than half an hour away.

"The Canaries versus The Linnets"......Now that's got a lovely ring to it...... It would also (and if it wasn't for this awful pandemic) have made an excellent 2020/21 pre-season friendly at Carrow Road. I for one (and certainly many other Canary and Linnets supporters) would have attended....A guaranteed healthy attendance and for us to then maybe donate a good financial percentage of the gate receipts to assist our Norfolk Neighbours?.... Both sets of support mixing and socialising in the local pubs pre and post game.....Sadly not to be....but hopefully maybe sometime in the not too distant future?......

This thread has been very strange. Normally paper talk is laughed at, but for some reason several, who clearly want to bash the club took it that we have agreed to sell Jamal at £10 million. Some also said Jamal wasn’t ready for a move to Liverpool. It now seems the club are asking for £20 million, Jamal is saying within 2 years he wants to be with a side in the Champions League, It is Liverpool that have put a figure in the papers and in fact we have not even had an approach, let alone what most have reported as fact that Jamal has returned from his holiday. Of course what Liverpool have done is turned the head of one of our players, and probably several others. This is the way big clubs operate. And before people suggest little ol Norwich I would suggest this happens to much bigger clubs, Leicester, Wolves and even themselves when Real Madrid and Barcelona come calling. Do I think Jamal will be sold - If there is a real offer yes probably. He has his goals just like when he was brave enough to leave Luton. https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwich-city/canaries-jamal-lewis-liverpool-transfer-pursuit-1-6779464

ifollow was a great way for an exile to watch City in the Champs and pay a bit for the privilege, I'd happily pay a tenner a game for a quality HD stream , especially if the Club got a decent chunk of that. Needs sorting asap as the dodgy streams are getting better and better over time.....and I fear itll be quite a while before they allow 27,000 into Carrow rd again.

Although I agree wholeheartedly Pantso, I fear that the greedy will not change their ways, unless forced upon them. This would have to come from the very top of footy, who havent exactly covered themselves in glory in the last few years, so while I support radical change and overhaul of the ever spiralling wage structure within the top echelons of football, I won't be holding my breath.

What on earth are you doing, posting something like this on this discussion board? Do you not realise that you have just devalued anything you may ever wish to say on here? It is a truly hopeless post and a unacceptable way to behave. Now, no one can ever take you seriously. There may be sites where this sort of thing is acceptable, but most people would have nothing to do with them. I despair!!!! Sent in sorrow, not in anger or spite 😞

Oh I do hope this is right, but I must say most of the stuff reported on here from the NY times has been pretty much spot on. You will note one vaccine has now moved to limited approval, that is of course the Chinese vaccine. I noticed AstraZeneca vaccine had an update today, that update as you will see says ‘ possible approval for limited use October ‘ then it goes on to say millions of doses are now ready for trials ? Is that for the limited approval ?. This of course ties in with the Indian report we saw about a week ago. Could it really be October ? Does tie in as well with Trumps speech on Monday. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/science/coronavirus-vaccine-tracker.html

We only have those valuable players in the first place due to the people and policies put in place by the board. Or do you think they just magically happen? How many clubs right now desperately wish they had one player to sell for £20m, let alone five?! We already have exciting, highly rated replacements and the incoming funds will enable us to push our recruitment level up significantly (particularly with Covid).

The Man City owners have done more for the local community than Delia and Michael ever have and ever will. Seriously check out what they’ve done to that part of Manchester and the jobs they’ve created. Norwich City would be incredibly blessed if owners like those at Man City were to buy our club.

Thanks for that. I've been using plotaroute.com, which has been excellent so far although started giving me error messages today (there are posts on their forum about it, so I guess they're aware). I've also used maps.ie as a backup. @wooster, thanks for the heads-up on the Thetford loop - would definitely be up for giving that a try. Only trouble is that I'd have to drive down there, which takes my rescue vehicle out of the equation! Might be able to persuade Mrs Wolf to drive me down there and have a wander around the shops while I cycle. Today I did 22 miles - my first 'coffee and cake' run! It really helped to stop half way and refuel. I felt I could have kept going at the end, but decided to play it safe. I rode to Javabean on the Scottow Enterprise Park, and had a lovely chat with the owners and a tour of the facilities. Outstanding carrot cake, too, so they are highly recommended! If I can do another 22 miles tomorrow, I'll hit 100 inside five days, which will afford me the luxury of a rest day on Thursday! The donations seem to have dried up a bit, so if anyone fancies sharing with friends and family, or knows anyone with a big reach who might be able to spread the word... instagram.com/matcolo1980 tiny.cc/colo500
