Never good enough this season and that was apparent well before Xmas. A pity the Covids strung the season out else we would now be getting all excited about another promotion run😉👍😁

Relegation isn't an easy thing for any team, any player in any division at any time. So if they're not completely devastated, annoyed, upset, angry then that would be when something's wrong. The players will know that was the last opportunity.

I am looking forward to the challenges that come with being in the Championship again. Better away days (once we're allowed to attend matches of course!), no VAR, and the opportunity to win matches every week. I trust Webber and Farke to recruit well for next season. Recruitment last summer was awful, but our 'moneyball' model of taking underappreciated or out-of-form players and modelling them into something better was never going to work in the rarefied air of the Premier League. We'll likely have more than £50m of player sales on top of parachute payments, so will be in a much better financial position than many of our contemporaries, especially considering the impact of Covid-19. I don't think anyone is expecting us to walk the league, but I definitely think we'll finish top six.

We played Brighton today who spent circa £70 million in the summer (alone).. let that sink in. What's your solution? We're playing the long game here . . .some of you just don't have the bottle. Yes, we can be better, as a club, a manager, owners, sporting director, players of course, and... as supporters. We need to be behind the club and everyone at it right now. What we're doing takes time. It took Klopp 5 years to win the premier league at L.i.v.e.r.p.o.o.l. Don't be a fool. Don't start with "Oh yes, the plan" retorts because they're basic af. Farke had Murphy, Pritchard and Maddison sold and still got us promoted out of the championship playing stylish football. Name any manger we can attract to Carrow Road who would get better out of our current squad? In the premier league, and given our injuries this season and resultant loss of momentum (*huge by the way)......if you can't answer.... then blame Farke for being unlucky, blame Webber for not quite landing the right side of a calculated gamble with tuppence, blame the players for not having enough quality, and blame Delia and Michael for not being oligarchs... but after that, please, please, stop wetting your little panties, take a deep breath and keep quiet until you have something smart to say. P.s. We'll be back in the premier league. OTBC

I'm not sure what everyone expected? We did better than expected and got promoted, the club had financials issues that needed to be resolved due to previous bad practice and the club was open about this, we spent next to nothing in relative terms and the club budgeted for coming 20th which we will do; all of which has been discussed and advised. There clearly is a 'project' but I fully expected to get relegated and go back down. Wins against Man City changed many mindsets I'm sure, beating Leicester and then Spurs in the cup gave hope and at the point of Covid we had a bit of momentum (a bit). However, as much as I had accepted that we would get relegated, what annoys is the amount of times we have undone ourselves with basic errors that have cost us games, VAR hasn't helped but you could argue that its affected others, although the one against Spurs cost us 3 points. We are where we are, the players clearly know they are beaten so the sooner this season is over and we can start to plan for the next one. If.......we start next season as we are finishing this one then like others I'll join the bewildered camp but let's be honest with ourselves, anything other than relegation was a dream not a reality, we were on a slope climbing in treacle before the season started.

Ffs, get Duda and Drmic off at half time and never allow them the opportunity to wear a yellow shirt again.
  7. 4 points
How about we get behind the team that Daniel Farke’s put out, eh?
  8. 3 points
Yeah I think we had started to improve. Beat Burnley in the cup. Beat Bournemouth at home. Drew against Newcastle away. Lost by one goal to both Sheffield United and Liverpool. Beat Leicester at home. Beat Spurs in the cup. The whole lockdown thing probably came at the wrong time for us.

Idah looks a really good prospect. But theres also the risk of him coming into a side that's not creating much and having his confidence shattered going into next season which could be his breakthrough. Baring in mind Farke clearly got it right on when to introduce Cantwell, Aaron's, Godfrey and Lewis, we should probably let him get on with it.
  10. 3 points
No one other than Farke understands why Drmic and Duda keep getting picked. Literally anyone in our squad who can play in either of these positions, should be getting picked ahead of these two.

Interesting to see people complaining about Farke dropping Pukki in favour of someone who has done **** all. What has Pukki done, or even looked like doing, since the toe injury earlier in the year? Many were calling for Farke to make changes, but then wringing their hands when he does. Given that we were only a goal down when a fresh Pukki, Cantwell and Idah came on, you might have thought we could have made a game of it. If we had, many would be applauding Farke's genius.Let's face it, managers are tactical magician's in the eyes of some when it's going well, and clueless clowns in the eyes of others when it's not. It's been a crap season, and a massive opportunity to establish ourselves in the PL missed, but there are an awful lot more clubs whose fans feel they should be in the PL than there are places. The PL consists of about 10 permanent clubs, with the other places being filled with transitional clubs, some who stay for a few years before dropping back down, and others, like us, who seem to yoyo up and down with monotonous regularity. Confidence plays a massive part in the game, and losing runs are much easier to get into than out of. That being said, it is the manager's job to try and build that confidence. Sometimes though teams do need the crowd behind them, particularly when up against superior opposition, and I think Norwich have suffered more than many in this respect. At the end of the day, I for one won't miss VAR, players conning the ref, £6 hot dogs and going to away games knowing it will be a long, depressing drive home.

I am not accepting that we're going down until it is confirmed by Lakey.

Ah yes 'the project'. I just want a football team that plays entertaining football and scores goals. That's the trouble with NCFC, they've embroiled themselves in the project and forgot the fundamentals of football and winning matches. And we might need a new project manager but that's ok, it happens.

Brighton fans in general are a really nice bunch, I guess every club has its smug prícks though.
  16. 3 points
They told Dunk, if Drmic moves, walk off. He said why and Potter said if Drmic moves it will be half time
  17. 3 points
Not sure we should be taking McClean off, I thought he's done pretty well?

Absolute fantasy. I agree that we have really played well in maybe 4 or 5 games. I also agree that we've had the odd 15 or 20 minutes spells in a few other games when we've looked decent. But, in the vast majority of games, especially against weaker teams, we have been out thought, out fought and out played. You don't get anything in this, or any other, league with consistently poor performances across a whole season. Now for me, Farke has had plenty of time to sort things out and improve the team from where it was in October. Unfortunately he hasn't done that and if anything we got worse as the season progressed. Even after the lay off, when you would have thought that the team would be fired up, they have looked unfit, unmotivated and unprepared. And all of that must be down to the coach.

Had a decent go today but not quite good enough. So it’s the Championship next season but so what? I for one am looking forward to Idah blossoming into the centre forward role. Fans are so fickle and not seeing the long term project that Webber set out. We have already made preparations for next season with hungry young talent chomping at the bit to wear the yellow shirt. If you can’t take the rough with the smooth then your not the kind of fan the club needs right now. Who’s ready to go again, get behind the club and ultimately enjoy the ride of supporting Norwich City? I for one can’t wait and if you can I truly pity you.

Oh, I have already been outed by City1st as being one of van wink’s creations, as in (note the inverted commas): Or maybe why 'purple canary' was leaping to your [VW’s] defence barely minutes after I had posted. The thing about that City1st’s latest ‘proof’ that you and now Barbe bleu do not exist but are just figments of VW’s boundless imagination is that his one key ‘fact’ actually springs from a crucial false assumption. Understand that this assumption and so this ‘fact’ are false and the whole convoluted edifice of City1st’s ‘proof’ of his madcap claim collapses like a giant jenga construction with the wrong piece pulled out. I did try to save the poor dear from himself with a follow-up post that hinted at the error by mentioning multiple threads but he didn’t take the hint or didn’t want to. Either way, true to form, he doubled down on this totally exploded ‘proof’. That’s my boy. Stop press. True to form, a doubling down was followed by a trebling down. Who'd have thunk it?!

For me it's sadly obvious now that next season in the Championship under Farke (if he is still here then) will be a struggle. There is just nothing left anymore. He's bereft of ideas. We can't score and we leak goals. I also think to some extent he has lost some of the players. Yes, sometimes teams come back from getting relegated, but there is getting relegated and then there is getting relegated. The manner in which we are getting relegated this season, there is no coming back from. 5 wins, defeat after defeat, unable to score. Not just unable to score, but very few shots and shots on target are now so rare that a shot on target feels like something to be celebrated. The football is getting worse and worse, there is little cohesion, Farke is still unable to influence the game during the game, his tactics have become more and more questionable and some of his team selections have become quite frankly bizarre. It's been more gradual under Farke but for me, like Alex Neil, the Premier League has had such a bad impact on him it has negatively affected his mindset, his tactics and his team selections. It's like the Newcastle away under Neil. Neil was never the same after the shock of that game. For Farke it has been more gradual, but ultimately, the effect has been the same.

Sorry, but the performances since lockdown, even though poor, are still much, much better than in the last days of Hughton!! And if there had been a crowd they might not have played that badly.

We relegeted since moment we lost from winless Watford at home. Some key points is also Pukki VARdisalowed goal at home vs Spurs( I think that hurt him a lot also) Some hopes after beat Leicester and Spurs(cup) but COVID,empty CR and news that we have only Klose and Godfrey for busy schedule confirmed our relagation. Still not understand some fans as we are at much better rooster and players value than 2 years ago. Simply we must back on wining way soon after champinship start and bring back happy mood around .Empty grounds not work on our way so lets hope soon end this nightmare too. Heads up for next season as nothing new happen only record 6th relegation from PL lol

I also recall Webber saying during the summer that one of our transfer strategies was not wanting to sign players that had relegations on their CV. Probably not a squad building strategy that has aged well - considering our entire squad is about to have one...
  27. 2 points
I watched the entire coverage and only saw players disappointed - talking rather than arguing. And they should be disappointed, it just hasn’t worked out this season.
  28. 2 points
I agree, we are just reverting to Delia’s intimated preference of us being a Championship club, there is no longer any desire to make a fist of staying in the PL with her in control. I will support the team no matter what but if we (.. hopefully) make a decent challenge for promotion next season I can’t help but feel I will be suffering some subconscious feelings of ‘why are we even bothering?’, resultant from previous experience. Our record of most relegations from the PL is (to be fair) slightly embarrassing, a bit ‘small club mentality’, suggesting we are never really prepared, or have the means to prepare to kick-on.

If I were Pukki, Idah, Cantwell, Vrancic or Steiperman, I’d be pretty angry that Drmic and Duda got picked again and did absolutely **** all again. If I were Hernandez, I’d be pretty angry at being brought off when up to then, looking the only chance of creating anything. I’m glad the players were angry, it shows they don’t agree with what’s going on.

It becomes much easier after the first half dozen. I used to get upset about it but those days are gone👍
  31. 2 points
There's a smell of death about our club, not just on the pitch but off it. Starting with owners who don't really care anymore but refuse to let go. Anyone who imagines that normal service will be resumed next season is in for a nasty shock, despite the very considerable financial advantage, in the post-covid era, of parachute payments. This is beginning to look terminal.

I bet the board are glad there’s no crowd. I think that game today would have seen a serious shift in atmosphere.

Great thread Jon, thanks for sharing.
  34. 2 points
This has been awful and caps one of the most pathetic, soul destroying relegation seasons of all time. Well done to the board for managing to top previous efforts which takes some doing. even Farke has lost the lot and become inept since the restart. Let’s hope that’s a temporary thing and he refinds his confidence in the champ as he could really have done a worse job than he has in the last month.
  35. 2 points
Maybe we bought Drmic on some sort of reverse “pay as you play” deal? The more he plays, the less we pay?

I have watched some poor Norwich sides o we the years but I can honestly say I’ve rarely been as disappointed as I have with the selections, attitude and general lack of desire to win I’ve seen in the last two and a half home league games. Which we should remember are “must win” games for us. its pathetic. Sort it out now Farke. This game not gone if he makes some changes now and we actually go at them.
  39. 2 points
Yes, absolutely. I would have had them in from the start. Our previous 3 matches in the league have been depressing affairs. Why not change something. Agree it's uncomfortable viewing. Somehow, it's not our old selves. Playing without a crowd has hurt this team in my opinion.
