12 pointsPeople can drink what they want - but with excellent breweries on the doorstep you’d hope there was a good supply of local stuff. I’m not a beer snob and will drink whatever is on offer, but do prefer a decent pint. I always remember this review given for (or at least hung on the wall of) my local decent hostelry…
-
6 pointsHopefully it'll be local stuff. I've always felt that football clubs should use local suppliers for food and drink at the ground to boost the local economy and strengthen links between the club and the community.
-
5 pointsI think as a fanbase we need to evolve from this ardent belief in the single all-conquering defensive midfielder. I don't disagree that the midfield needs more structure + strength, but it doesn't always have to be a Tettey/ Skipp to make that happen.

4 pointshttps://www.canaries.co.uk/content/cheers-new-pub-at-carra-rud We’re calling time on the old Lower Barclay bar and opening a great new pub at Carrow Road – a place for supporters to enjoy getting together with family and friends before and after the game and for everyone in Norfolk to enjoy. The Lion & Castle pub launches on Friday, July 21 and mixes the club’s heritage with the need for a bright, welcoming local pub. It will serve craft beers and the club hope it will appeal to everyone, not just football fans. Norwich City fans have been heavily involved in its design and Along Come Norwich co-founder Jon Punt said: “We were delighted to be asked for our input, which has included providing feedback on designs and even one of our group offering a suggestion to name the pub, which the club really liked and ran with. "We have often thought the current space could be more comfortable and welcoming and should be a nice place to visit before and after the game for good beer and food, while also being able to be used by the wider community throughout the week. We think the design really achieves that. The club say they will open it up to some away fans after the game, which is great - Norwich fans are a friendly bunch towards most away fans, we have much more in common than that which divides us. “We also really wanted to get a better beer offer and the club has laid on lots more craft beers and different lagers and made some changes which will speed up ordering at half-time. So I hope everyone really enjoys the Lion & Castle." The pub has bigger, better, brighter TV screens – and many more of them, so you can watch other matches or sports events in comfort. But it also has the neat touches you’d expect from a club that has Onel Hernandez on its books. Like our two Beer Walls, aka WonderWalls. They’re a heavenly sight: a whole wall of beers where you simply pay by card and pull your own pint. And we’re proud to announce the launch of our own premium lager; The Lion & Castle. The bar will hold over 600 and will be opened at 3pm on Friday, July 21 by Norwich City fan and absolute legend, Stephen Fry. It’s going to be a helluva party and we want you to be there! All fans are invited to the launch on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets for the launch (from 2.30pm onwards) cost £4 (redeemable for a drink at the bar), while entry after the main launch event (from 5pm onwards) is free and no tickets are required. To get your tickets once on sale, please visit our ticket office page here or visit our dedicated Lion and Castle page here for full FAQs. Tickets will go on sale to the Lower Barclay on Monday, June 26. Please note you must be logged into your OneCity account to access tickets in advance. General sale will commence on Wednesday, June 28.

4 pointsI think a pint of "shareholder's legacy" should be available. Not sure if if would be a bitter, or a lager (full of gas!)

4 pointsThis b0ll0x about the UK enforcing the rules whilst other countries didn't is just another stupid Brexit myth, the details of breaches by countries are documented by the EU. Brexiters lied before Brexit, they lied during Brexit and they are still lying about Brexit.

2 pointsThe defensive midfielder is the key position in the Wagner philosophy though. He has to have presence of mind to be able to cover gaps left by the full backs bombing forward and central defenders moving a little wider to cover the channels left by them. He then has to find the space and position himself in such a way ready not just to receive the ball back when possession is turned over, but to then himself be able to get the ball moving forwards again to facilitate an attack. This can mean playing long balls with great accuracy to make up for the fact that he's had to drop deep to cover the defence. He then also has to be aware what's going on further up the field to allow himself the chance to move forwards and affect play further up. I doubt there's another role in Championship football that demands so much. You look at Huddersfield when they were successful under Wagner and they had Jonathan Hogg playing that role. He's a player who (IMO) is a defensive minded player first, with the playmaking responsibilities a second. He also benefitted from having Phillip Billing next to him who had the stamina and strength to be all over the shop. For me, McLean should be our Phillip Billing. The player who gets back and helps out as an anchor when needed, but is more involved going forward. Right now, this position is taken by Sara. In competition with McLean should be Gibbs, who I think has the ability to do this role, but may need a bit more polishing when it comes to positioning and general defensive abilities. It will come with time and experience though. Sara should, in my view, be pushed further forward and left to be an offensive talent. He should compete with Nunez for that particular role. A new defensive midfielder should then be brought in to fill the roll that Hogg did at Huddersfield, a much more defensively inclined player. Sorenson can be back up, not that I think he has the defensive nous for this role, but he is a player with good instinct and ball skills. For me, if we are pushing McLean into this position again, it's another example of Wagner trying to fill round holes with square pegs.

2 pointsI would never try to speak for someone else unless I was asked to, by them, certainly not when asked by you. Stop changing the subject back to your petty campaign @chicken is right you are narcissistic.....everybody else is incompetent unless they agree with you....classic trait.

2 pointsI don't think that Sara has the mindset or ability to play in a predominantly defensive role. He struggled enough last season to fulfill his defensive duties. The times that he 'lost' the player that he was supposed to marking emphasised the amount that he still has to learn before being considered a complete midfield player. Focus on his good points (attacking) and get someone else in to do the defensive bit.

2 pointsBournemouth manager sacked for keeping team in PL against all the odds. Sheff Weds manager sacked after getting team promoted against all the odds, after the heavy semi defeat v Peterborough. Love football, hate what it’s become!! .

2 pointsYes. Turkish media are one of the worst for just making stuff up when it comes to transfer rumours.
-
2 pointsEither way mate it will certainly be seen as half empty for some and half full for others
-
2 pointsI hope they cater for keg as well as cask. Would be great to see, for example, a Duration beer, or even a Redwell pale. Absolutely no shortage of local breweries catering for the cask crowd!
-
2 pointsNon-transferable though, lifetime ban if you pass a pint on to someone else.

2 pointsI'm glad it mentions better beer. The current choice on a matchday is abysmal and has been for years

2 pointsYes, that's how I interpreted your original comment. And, for once, I agree with you 100% on this. Webber made no secret of his distaste for the fans' opinions on that matter, but I'm delighted that they (and the trust) made the club backtrack.

2 pointsGod knows. I don't know why she chose those two countries either. The Germans are not known for their lax safety rules. Some of what I have seen reinforces my belief that people shouldn't have been allowed anywhere near a massive decision like the referendum.

1 pointYou're obsessed with the war and the post war generation! You might be right about the desire to be European ans how this might drive a desire to join the EU. I suspect though that lyb had it about right when he says that what we are most likely to see is a slow-moving together over the next 25 or so years as the new world order and new tech changes whole societies.

1 pointIt happened in 30 milliseconds, which is much quicker than it takes us to blink. Absolutely insane. Of course, nobody wants to die, but it's probably not a bad way to go, much better than a long drawn out suffering.

1 pointOne thing is certain. People renting in the private sector will not see a reduction in their rent even if inflation drops to negligible rates and interest rates drop to 1%. So inflation will not have disappeared. It has a permanent effect whenever it happens. All we beat on about in this country is house prices forgetting that one third of the population live in private rental accommodation.

1 pointIn the grand scheme of things with over 200 countries, three places in the FIFA rankings means very little. Bang-average Hungary humiliated and eviscerated England at Molineux with their worst home defeat since 1928. That Hungary side is very organised to their credit but there's not exactly much top-tier talent in it (heck, Callum Styles of Barnsley was in their midfield). And they bummed England's arses with a cactus whilst putting sand in the lube. If England don't approach Scotland with all due respect - especially with their unbalanced defence (hence the need for possession football), the same could happen again.
-
1 pointI've posted on a separate thread that half the people recently surveyed think that a reduction in inflation means that prices will come down. That and the Brexit result are proof that you should never have referendums on complex but vital national issues. Hopefully we will learn from it.
-
1 pointThe only true comparison with house prices is to compare median or average salaries with the average house price. I bought a house in 1998 which cost around 2.5 times my salary. It went on the market recently at around 7 times my salary (or what my salary would have been if I hadn't retired). There are many reasons for that, one being a lack of housing compared to demand. One issue that is never mentioned is the increase in single occupancy houses and I'm guilty of that. In 1971 there were around 1m single person properties in the UK. That figure is now closer to 7m. A lot of that is due to the increasing divorce rate but whatever the reasons the result is that we have had to build around 3m houses in 50 years because people like me live on their own. @SteveN8458do your children desperately need to buy at the moment? As @ricardohas said, every so often prices tend to crash. I'm not expecting a huge crash but reports this morning say that asking prices dropped last month. I agree with ricardo that it's a home rather than an investment, but if you think your home will cost between 5 and 10% less in a year's time then it makes sense to wait if you can.

1 pointYeah, I mentioned I checked notifications were disabled in my original post. I doubt the site itself is serving this crap, more like one of the many dodgy ad providers who clog up every page. As an aside, I'm a software engineer by trade and occasionally I write web servers. I have a bit of experience in this area 🙂.

1 pointLet's be absolutely clear: the Tories have trebled the national debt (from £800 billion to £2.5 trillion) in just 13 years while running every single public service into the ground. I'm no fan of Labour (other than them being the least-bad lizards) because they're far too regressive when we need significant change, but the Tories have been an absolute economic cluster****. When Labour spaffed money up the wall we at least had things like Sure Start Centres and Tax Credits. Under the Tories we've seen local authorities actually going bankrupt due to chronic underfunding (despite unprecedented council tax rises) and schools being asset stripped. It will take generations to recover from this mess. Wasting public money in record amounts doesn't make the Tories the same as Labour. One of them likes to give money to the people whereas the other likes to enrich their mates at the expense of all of us. I'll let you work out which is which.
