Very surprised at @shefcanary. Absolutely no problem with him not rating Hanley, but the lack of compassion for one of our most dedicated and long-serving pros is very surprising. I think, like Kenny, he's one of those players that some people will only appreciate when they've left and we try to fill the gap they've left behind. Like Kenny, I'm not suggesting that Hanley is a PL-quality player, but he's as strong as an ox, tough as old boots, has a remarkable turn of pace and is excellent at getting his body in front of the ball and drawing fouls. I can only hope that this is a 'tweak' rather than a rupture and he's back soon. Yes, we'd need to upgrade him if we want to reach our objective of getting to the PL and staying there, but you can't change the whole squad all at once, and seasoned pros such as Kenny and Grant add strength and continuity to our squad.

That Pukki decision a few years ago is still the worst for me

Those suggesting they don't want to see us promoted should be careful what they wish for. If we don't get promoted we'll be in a difficult position financially. The final parachute payments are already spent, and there will be no funds to support the squad rebuild which is clearly needed. The club's trajectory will be very much one way, and there is no guarantee we'll be able to address that any time soon without major investment.

Imo everyone should be angry about it. It is anti-football.

We need to get promoted for mainly financial reasons rather than football reasons. Our skill set and tactical awaness will not improve in prem but money will come in.We need to go up for this reason

They sent out an email to supporters. Publicised it on their various social media channels and website. I assume it was in the matchday programmes. There were several threads on this forum. That's a fair amount of coverage.

I dont get this argument. Very rarely is a promoted team ready for the Prem. We broke our own records and won the title at a canter two seasons ago but the squad still wasn't ready. You need some really astute business and a huge slice of luck just to stand a chance upon promotion. But that's only possible if you get promoted in the first place. I'd love us to get promoted because it means we've witnessed an incredible end to the season with a win at Wembley. Football is all about moments and memories and the opportunity to watch Norwich at Wembley with family / friends isn't something I take particularly lightly.

It is extremely hard to develop football teams without money. Yo-yo was always the plan to develop the squad, it just hasn’t happened for multiple reasons. This should have been our strongest year so far. The idea the squad will get better in the Championship with less money is fanciful. Football improvement requires money, it’s not what matters, but it’s an unfortunate reality.

I'm not comfortable to think we have to go up for financial reasons. That is not what sport is about. If we stay down, be it for two or three seasons or more, we can develop the team and squad for however long we need to. Yes, we lose parachute payments along the way, but football should always be the main focus. Money is important, but it isn't the be all and end all. Football is what matters and the pressure to get promoted should not be a financial one. Sport is what matters, not money.

In some ways it’s quite a similar sport to football

Thanks. I have done it now and pretended not to know what the word. I just started with ADIEU and SPORT, as usual, which gave me the first and last letters! It certainly is or was used in the military as Situation Normal All Fouled Up, although the F word might not have been "Fouled"... The other militarism is Fubar, or Fouled Up Beyond All Recognition, which gets mentioned in Saving Private Ryan.

Meanwhile Leicester City are in danger of relegation because their owner decided not to break FFP rules.
  15. 3 points
Arguably that moment was a turning point that led to our relegation. I'm not saying we would definitely have stayed up had we won that game, but it was as real kick in the nuts and mentally we appeared to lose a lot of confidence after that game

This season has been prolific especially in the amount we have won with 12 winning sixes adding Β£1,403.70 to the pot. The amount was always going to be brilliant after NFN's double winning Β£906 extravaganza. This has helped enormously at a time of recession. We've also had 13 5/6s. Last season we had 11 winning sixes adding Β£454.53 and 17 5/6s. You PUPs taking part every week doing what we do means we raise much more than just the winnings. In fact I always think it's our competition and weekly bet that is the glue which holds our community together enabling much more to be raised.

First off congrats to @littleyellowbirdie for winning on the six! For the Rotherham picks I’ve decided to keep it simple and go with the same strategy as the Blackburn game where we could get a few to stack up. All of these Β£1 stake - Sargent to score anytime, Pukki to score anytime, Sara to score anytime, Hugill to score anytime, Norwich to win 1-0, Norwich to win 2-0, Norwich to win 2-1, Norwich to win 3-1, Draw, Rotherham win. Hopefully that covers enough options so we at least get something out of it tomorrow.

Inevitably, its the smaller artists that are getting screwed. Unlike people such as Roger Daltrey UK & EU artists aren't stealing each other's jobs. There needs to be an agreement that allows performers better access throughout the UK & EU

πŸ™‚...I have my own table - played 7 (something like that) and Nil points. But I'm top of the table πŸ˜… Very tough job. Over the years I've seen lots of 5/6 sets. I wonder what the stats actually are of all attempts? In a season of say 46 games (or say 50 sets of 6) how many 6/6, 5/6s I wonder? And this season has the feel of a definite highlight doesn't it? Many wins coming.

I'd go with this (minus the apostrophe in Aaron's). Pukki against tiring legs is a huge weapon, and that midfield three with Gibbs pushing on looked excellent against Blackburn. Bench: Krul, McCallum, Byram, Tzolis, Idah, Pukki, Kamara/Rowe (if fit). A very top-heavy bench with no midfielders, but with Nunez, McLean and Dowell all injured it's either that or a CM from the academy.

I hope Forest get relegated. If not their spend is the media benchmark for promoted teams.

Doubt they were unaware of him. Sunderland took a January punt on a loan player who had had a serious injury at the end of the 20-21 season before buying for an undisclosed last summer. If only we'd take chances like that πŸ˜‡
  28. 2 points
Really poor post. Not least because we were comfortably winning with him in the team, and we conceded more chances once he went off.

Assuming you've only got two legs that's pretty unlucky.

It doesn't matter one iota what division you play in. Supporting your team is all that matters.

Anyone know when the voting will open? I’ve thought about it and I’m fully committed. He plays for the shirt like we would and that’s good enough for me. It’s Onel. Imagine him buzzing his nut off after winning that!

What else can he do from his Mum's basement?

Tbh the apostrophe was an autocorrect when I typed in Aarons on my phone. It is a shame none of the midfielders seem to be pushing for a squad place.

I agree ,it should be but at this level it is not .We as a club have only six different ways of income.almost all of the current premium teams have seven .Therefore it is vital we gain promotion.

https://www.canaries.co.uk/content/voting-open-for-player-of-the-season It's been open for about ten days, closes tomorrow (way too early in my opinion, but there you go). I voted for Kenny, as he's been our most consistent performer over the course of the season in my opinion; Max and Onel a close second/third, but their form was seriously hampered by the conservative way Dean Smith tried to make them play. Sara has been outstanding in the second half of the season and I wouldn't mind if he wins it, same with Angus, but for me Kenny has done everything asked of him and continues to play better than we have any right to expect of him.

No surprise to see the ref was Stuart Attwell after the way he almost single handed my turned around Leeds season and screwed us over in consecutive weeks last season. I still believe we would have won at Elland Road had he and the VAR official done their job properly and things could have been very different had Leeds lost to us and then at Everton the following week and we picked up a win at a time we were starting to improve.

Congrats lyb and Hammond! πŸ₯³πŸ’°πŸ† My pick for Monday is Onel and Hoooooogil (you just know its going to happen πŸ˜…) to both score anytime. Apples

Sometimes it's the auto-complete function, with its (see what I did there) built-in logic, as in the case of Aaron's where the possessive form of Aaron makes more sense than a multitude of Aarons, or Aarons as a standalone singular proper noun. Other times it's just illiteracy and the desperately poor educational standards of a failing country. I know it's not important really!

My brief flirtation with non-league as a teenage centre back ended with a dislocated knee. Entirely my own fault as I tried to do a quick turn on the ball which really wasn't in my skill set and evidently surprised my left leg which resolutely refused to comply with the rest of my body and stayed where it was. Still played University 1XI but that was it in terms of any pretence at anything more. Turning circle of an oil tanker after that.

I don't rate Hanley, but this is rubbish. We were winning comfortably before he went off and our most frail time was after he had gone off - admittedly late in the game when Gibson was off too. To suggest this comfortable win is anything to do with Hanley going off is letting your own bias overrule sense.

Yes. And at the very least he's helpful defensively away from home.
