He wouldn't have trebled in value staying at Norwich though- the reason he's now worth so much is he's proving he can do it at the top end of the Premier League, another season in the Championship wouldn't have done much.

If we start thinking that selling our only natural left back in January, who was also in the championship team of the year less than a year ago for 15m is good business because of 'lost confidence' then we are in big trouble. He turned 22 only 2 days ago, he has the potential to be worth far more than 15m in today's market. I actually think he looked better than Aarons for a fair chunk of the start of the season.

Interesting that she feels women would feel left out - Isn't she actually CREATING sexism from nothing there? More women than ever are into the sport and attend games regularly. My wife has a season ticket (by choice) and could frankly give a few armchair managers on here a run for there money on knowledge, tactics and mostly sensibility in debate. Also, the 2 women that sit near me in the Barclay really know their stuff. I find it very strange that, being female, she would single females out in this way. Surely a more accurate line would be that it makes people not interested in the sport feel left out. Anyway, I digress. It is an entirely idiotic notion regardless of who it supposedly leaves out. What happens from here, we have to run every topic of conversation by everyone in earshot, just in case they are disinterested/offended?

If they ban footy chat cos the ladies feel left out, then they should also ban discussions on hairdos & getting your nails done but most of all, childbirth. Dont want or need to hear it. As I don't work in an office it doesn't affect me, but jaysus, what is the world becoming.

We are. Now it's time to hold you to account. This better be as good as you promised.

The issue would be a bigger bid, but that would be subjected to massive tax payment on profits, better off to sell the next financial year and off set profits by buying or upgrading facilities......can’t see any positives to selling this week.

Yes - Seems the US view of the world is if you aren't 100% for us you are against us. In that truth there lies the EU position - trying to be a balance between differing power blocks and doing what's best for Europe. If Johnson caves into the USA despite what our own security advisers are saying we will quite clearly 'HAVE NO CONTROL' of our destiny. Small fish, big sea, large sharks. Nice little hors d'oeuvre before the main course later.

Yes, probably that. Not getting overrun to begin with is vital. So long as we give any subs (Mario, Onel, Rupp) time to influence the game if needs be.

If he'd paid Shrewsbury a bit more respect and played a stronger team he'd have had his winter break.

Couldn’t have done it without you PUPs! Shouldn’t have got so greedy with the ladies matches and gone for ten. We might have made a bit more otherwise. Thanks to all of you. OTBC.

Dropping Buendía and Cantwell for such a vital match would be insane; they're the only midfielders we've got who have contributed goals and assists. If they're fit, they start... simple as that. The rest of the team looks good to me, but Buendía and Cantwell in for Rupp and Hernandez.

Considering the paltry budget he's been working with, I'd say there have been a lot more hits than misses. As far as misses go, I'd say Franke, Marshall, Husband, Srbeny, Heise and Watkins have been poor permanent signings, and of those only Franke and Marshall cost us more than a million. Watkins cost us nothing and we turned him for a £1m profit within 12 months. On the other hand, I'd say Vrancic, Hernandez, Trybull, Zimmermann, Buendia, Krul, Pukki, Hanley, Stiepermann, Leitner and Byram have all been somewhere between decent and excellent. I can't be bothered to trawl through all Neil's signings, but I doubt his hit rate was nearly that high, and he also spent considerably more money. Factor in the quality young players we've either invested in or brought through the Academy (Neil would never play youth team players, remember), and I think it's fair to say Webber has been relatively successful with his recruitment.

Absolutely pathetic attempt to censor everyday conversation. We all have topics of interest to us that may or may not be of interest to others, but it's not for someone else to dictate what you discuss with others (unless it's a complete no-no topic like casual racism etc). There's a shedload of topics that ladies often discuss that I have zero interest in like soap operas, fashion, diets or the new Maeve Binchy novel for example, yet I wouldn't ever demand that they be banned from talking about them in an office environment, just like I wouldn't expect them to demand I not talk about footy, PC's & gaming, fantasy novels or cars either. And yes, I appreciate there may be a few stereotypes there, but it's purely for example purposes (and what I've heard women - including my wife discussing with friends and colleagues). It's also doing a bad disservice to many women who DO follow sport in the process. Keep going at this rate and workplaces will be silent, as everything will become taboo to discuss for fear of potentially offending someone...

Had an email about it. The BBC were looking for a fan from each club left in the draw to turn up tonight. Came before we beat Burnley so bit surprised that didn't jinx us 😀

Bournemouth would be funny. They act all plucky but they are big money backed villas squad would be sold en masse so I’d be up for that and us. I hate this league

Roeder could spot a player, he just couldn't manage them. Hoolahan became an all-time City legend, two of his loan army went on to get England caps, Clingan and Bell were solid players at that level and Martin Taylor almost single-handedly turned our season around. Grant, like Neil, actually worked with a respectable budget and almost universally blew it either on poor players or players we didn't really need.

If he was worth that to anyone at that time why did man Utd not pay £30 m for him then instead of the £80 m they appear to be offering now ?. He was a big risk at the time and who knows may never have progressed from the bench in most teams.

For me it is all about the transfer fee, a winter window increase would make it attractive; Lewis is extremely capable at EFL level and did well against spurs and in the cup games. However Byram has been the better defender and that is why he has started. It will be a shame to see him go but this is our strategy; bring players through and sell at the highest possible price to reinvest in the next bright young things. I would say it is easier to replace a full back than a dcm or cb, so while he will be a loss I would wish him well and await the next star.

If they pay enough...I think we shouldn't stand in his way... 15-17 million , seems fair
  35. 1 point
I am not sure his value is going to increase. He did alright Saturday but his final ball isn't the best. Byram has done a very good job and is as good. So cash in while his value is high.

The hill I will die on is that Alex Neil was the worst manager in the transfer market we've had since maybe Grant

But we aren't winning games! Todd has contributed and is a great player for us.....but we aren't winning enough! With Vrancic pulling strings and with Rupp and Duda providing a bit more solidity, the simple fact is we cannot incorporate all the players - and directness is something we need to improve on. It is clear there will be need to be changes to the line up with Rupp and Duda making good impacts since they arrived - and although every player we have is able to be in the team imo, including Todd - we need to find a winning formula, one way or the other. Vrancic Tettey, Duda with Rupp or Buendia is a potent looking line up and Todd, for all his running may - imo - not get as much game time. I may, as you say, be wrong, but we haven't been winning games and the one sure thing is that the team will change between now and the end of the season. We need a winning formula.

I think Klopp is a real star and we are lucky to have him in the EPL. If you get upset by the demotion of the League Cup or the FA Cup then I'm afraid, sadly, that you're Luddites that misunderstand that it is the EPL or the ECL that is where the action is nowadays. Our quaint old cup competitions (and the League Cup really isn't that old) are now marginalised. That said, a good run in the FA Cup would do us no harm.

What does that have to do with what they did in the season LDC is talking about? Leicester were poor for 30 games or so in that 14/15 season then went on an amazing run at the end. I think we’ll go down but it won’t be the biggest surprise in history if we do survive. as for the OP my answer would be affected if we were one of the teams to go down (in which case I’d want it to be Bournemouth and Villa. My actual answer otherwise would be Watford, Brighton and West ham (of realistic options)
  44. 1 point
Hernandez did not do enough yesterday to oust Cantwell. Rupp was very good but he is a completely different player to Buendia, more physical but less trickery. We might give the ball away less with him so it might not be a bad idea to put him in for Buendia

Best ever bottom of the league team ... Do we get a star on our shirt for that? 🤔⭐
  48. 1 point
It has been frustrating, certainly, but only occasionally joyless. We are so close being a team that has sufficient consistency to get the wins we need. The frustration stems from sheer bad luck, too many costly mistakes, a really rough deal from VAR, and the fact that even at our best we will still suffer some defeats. If we maintain our consistency the season could yet turn. This is no time to give up hope as our fate rests largely on the home games, and a confident crowd can make a crucial difference to the team.
