5 points—————— ‘So farewell then Stuart Webber, aged 34 and a half. Ignore the noise you said And then you didn’t. Came with free weapons in your pocket Left with expensive ankle weights. Pissed higher up the wall than anyone before you Left all your friends behind after you. Built the training ground with the fan’s money Then never got any more from anyone else. Left for mountainous challenges What remains is mostly flat. So farewell then Stuart Webber All the new looks like the old’ É.J.Thribb ————

5 pointsDelia and Michael are tone deaf. There's no need to say anything right now, and if they must, something short and professional! Thank or praise him for the work he's done and suggest the time is right for both parties move on. "absolutely devastated" suggests we can't do better, and implies he had their full unwavering support despite his high profile issues with fans and local media, etc. It's a terrible PR statement, and one that again shows how emotionally attached and weak the owners are when it comes to running a football club.

5 pointsSurely we just all agree the Johnson is a lying self serving idiot conman and there are way too many people taken in by his act!

4 pointsSeriously, who didn’t think this was coming the day he was elected? If you spent ten minutes reading about the bloke, it was as clear as the nose on your face that from his schooldays onwards, his only interest was himself and everything he did was about his own desires and ambitions. Sometimes I despair about the general public.

3 pointsOne of the best in his position, why not? If it is that much, the curry would be around 320million quid and the naan roughly the same value as the rice depending on pilau, mushroom, peshwari, keema, Declan factors etc.

3 pointsFrankly I'm totally amazed and concerned at some of the die hard Johnson supporters. They are straight out of the deranged Trump victim-hood playbook and his maggoty base. It's a witch-hunt, kangaroo court, innocent and so on. A complete lack of morals. Banged to rights is nearer the truth.

3 pointsAbsolutely standard from the owners, it's always been the same. I remember them being "devastated" when they had to sack Worthy. Christ, I remember them being "devastated" when Brian Hamilton resigned, ffs. Why we aren't run like a proper football club is beyond me. Pretty much all other clubs manage it, yet we are run like some small family business, still, in 2023. It's time for Attanasio to come forward and be clear about what his intentions are for the club.

2 pointsIt is the least predictable series in years. England have home advantage but the stated intention of flat fast wickets almost favours the Australian bowling attack over our own and scoring quickly enough to leave time to bowl out a reasonably strong Australian batting line up twice against an outstanding bowling line up is going to make for fascinating viewing. I suspect there will be some glorious sessions and the odd horrific collapse. I'd feel a lot more confident if we had a fully fit selection of bowling options but I've got tickets for the first two days at Headingley and I'm really looking forward to the whole series. ODIs and T20s are fun, but you can't beat an Ashes series when the teams are closely matched.

2 pointsI believe he comes from the same village as our own Christos Tzolis, which was the reason he and only he alone knew that CTz was going to score 45 goals in the Eredivisie last year for Twente

2 pointsHe's only 28 so I doubt he's looking to settle for a life of 'experienced pro to help youngsters' right now. You can't guarantee fitness for anyone but you can lessen the risk but not signing a player who has spent the best part of 18 months recovering from various injuries. Signing him would be the ultimate act of stupidity.

2 pointsThe amount of partying that went on in Downing Street and elsewhere was far in excess of what you'd normally expect to find in a typical well-functioning workplace, even without covid restrictions. And I bet we don't know the half of it. But what else can we expect when there are five (subsidised) bars in the Houses of Parliament, open all hours, and 'work' doesn't start until after 'lunch'? Partygate is just an extreme example of the dominant culture.
-
2 pointsWe’ve attempted to fill the gap every season, just without success since Skipp. Amadou, Normann and Hayden all came with decent enough pedigree.

2 pointsNo-one could disagree with any of that, but it is a bit parochial, given how international football is, even for the likes of us. Sadly Berlusconi is no longer available, but Sanna Marin is looking for a new challenge after stepping down as Finland’s prime minister (Teemu would undoubtedly put in a good word for us) and Henry Kissinger really knows his football.

2 pointsWagner is in an unenviable position whatever the situation and whoever the SD is. He is under pressure to succeed all the time and with the poor showing over the end of this last season, he is going to be under even more pressure and need to get something going straight away next season, or the usual suspects will be out baying for him to be sacked and that is regardless of who is or who isn't SD. People will say "give him 10 games" - and if we have a poor start, it will be difficult to turn that round and get the fans onside. Farke managed it in his second season after around ten games, with that 1-1 away at Portaloo Rd which seemed to be the catalyst for improvement, but that was with Pukki, Leitner at his best and with Max making his mark and the shape of things looking more promising. It is difficult to imagine how next season will start, as we don't know who the players will be, who will be our Pukki, Leitner, Vrancic, Buendia etc etc......but it makes no difference to Wagner's position who the players are - he has to turn around a rather pathetic end of season into something that looks better, or he won't last long in the job. So if things are changing at the top, it makes no difference - he has to do well, whoever his bosses are, or he will be out.
-
2 pointsquite. I feel he was unspeakably rude to local media and fans and this alone should have rang alarm bells with owners not garnered praise
-
2 pointsDon't let ANYONE tarnish his legacy. It's taken him six years of his life* to take us from 8th in the Championship to.... ...13th in the Championship. *90% of it

1 pointI don’t disagree, but I’m guessing you/they weren’t working in a highly public role like sporting director? If we made either no signings, or a load of extremely poor ones which impacted on our subsequent performance after Webber left, it would have negative implications for his reputation. But we have already seen that in reality we’ve made an encouraging mixture of tactical buys for the next season, and more long-term promising youngsters. We even appear to have won in the race for a highly regarded young player ahead of several competitors. Part of the reason for that has to be perception of our club that has formed over the last few years under Stuart Webber.
-
1 pointWith Forsyth and Fisher in (presumably), I like the focus on some potential young gems, and the three senior signings are all in positions where we needed them. Whilst performance and development will be the ultimate markers of how well a window goes, it's clear to see that even when in his notice period, Webber's seen issues and is looking to keep things ticking to aid transition. Doesn't look like he's coasting.
-
1 pointDefensive Midfield players are quite rare aren’t they? Lots of discussion about not signing one but are there any obvious candidates out there.
-
1 pointI think that's wrong. Johnson has just been found guilty of misleading the house. A serious contempt. He also clearly misled or perhaps you would prefer conned the general public too.
-
1 pointHasn’t Hayden left Newcastle now.. in fairness, and I might get pelters for this, but I wouldn’t mind having him back if nothing for a bench option and / coaching role for younger talent in that position. Though appreciate £ spent on a bench player isn’t ideal - he might feel we doesn’t have a whole lot of choice though…

1 pointThe latest article from Connor Southwell is really worth a read. I've no clue if these things are behind pay walls, so I'll post the highlights, but it is well worth a read if you can. Again, I've said time and time again I think if you have a subscription to PinkUn+ and the Athletic then you're very well covered for NCFC news, although I appreciate times are tough at the minute for most. 5 to 7 signings wanted BEFORE additional outgoings. Webber said 80% to be done before they go away (which we knew) on 11th July (which we didn't know). Meaning just 27 days to do quite a lot of business! We have improved our offer to Max Johnston. He is said to be impressed by the signings so far and the pathway offered to him to play first team football here. The improved package has put us back in the running for him, albeit with alot of competition. Interest confirmed for both Ince and Fraser. We moved for Fraser last year only for us to be unable to come to an agreement with Newcastle. It could be with the further deterioration of his relationship with Howe and a desire to move back south a compromise may be found. Also mentions links to Sainz and Ogbene; but doesn't formally confirm interest. Likely youth purchases to be made too. Gabby Forsyth is mentioned. Sheffield Utd have made tentative enquiries for Omobamodiele. Foreign interest "persists". Says "unlikely" he'll be a Norwich player come the end of the window. Aarons also on the way. Confirmed interest from Roma, Mourinho a fan from his time at Spurs. Likely changes in direction due to the approval of the work permit rule changes allowing a limited number of players to be brought in who do not qualify through the points based system. European Lower Leagues might be back on the menu, boys!

1 pointI was confused when I heard that. Surely people are misquoting AI. Isn't what they are using at the moment just humans writing programs and updating them? Isn't AI intelligence that thinks and performs and renews by and for itself? I remember sitting on a plane tha twas reputedly being flown by AI. It greeted us passengers by saying "God Morning PAssengers. Today there is no human inside the cockpit. The flying of this plane is being controlled by AI which is perfect and free from human error and absolutely nothing can go wrong, go, go wrong, go wrong, wrong, wrong, go, go wrong.

1 pointConcerned at the moment, it all depends on who we bring in to replace him. His recruitment in the Championship has been good overall with our budget and he's only just brought Wagner in so I thought he'd give that project more time. While he made massive mistakes in the transfer market at PL level he was working within an extremely tight budget and had to find players that Farke would actually play so was limited in that regard. He had to sign PL quality players for under 10m within a tight wage structure with heavy relegation wage drop clauses and because Farke was the manager had to have decent technical ability, that's a tough ask. The next person might be a genius, who knows, it's more likely though that they'll be at a similar level or worse though and most of the things fans are unhappy about stem from the fact that we're self funded and so long as that remains the case I don't see us becoming massively better any time soon. My personal hope this summer was that he'd stay but overhaul the recruitment team and that Attanasio would get more involved and hopefully give us a little bit more of a budget to work with, that hasn't happened though.
