Great news. I loved The Mary Whitehouse Experience.

It’s not sh*te though is it. Farke very much liked him? He gave him a couple of league cup appearances before reprimanding him and dropping him. Sure he made some nice comments when he signed, but that’s just standard new signing rhetoric. Farke didn’t ease young players in over time. If they were good enough, they played. Numerous examples of this. Farke didn’t think Tzolis was good enough , so he didn’t play. Clear as day. Wagner brought Tzolis back because he wasn’t getting game time on loan, and wanted to take a look. He got a few cameo appearances. Wagner took a look, and has now shipped him out again. Doesn’t rate him. Clear as day. We’re not going to agree on this one, which is cool. But I do find your belief in Tzolis unfounded, and a little bizarre tbh. And to your first point, all young players need a run in the team to show what they’ve got. Fair. But as we know, that’s not how football works. It’s simply impossible to give all young players that opportunity. If Tony Springett doesn’t get decent run in the team this year, will you also be critical of Wagner and the coaching staff?

No, it wasn't - that is just another tiresome Leaver myth, or lie to be more precise. When Herman said us, I tend to assume that he actually meant us and I'm pretty sure that the Remainers' predictions on here have been pretty accurate though as Herman says maybe not quite as bad as the reality turned out to be - for example none of us expected or predicted any benefits from Brexit but I think we assumed that the Government would at least try to conjure up something. But in practice they have so far failed to even fully implement the agreement and certainly haven't attempted to deliver any 'benefits' and still show no signs at all of having any ideas as to what they might be. Also we didn't predict that devolved Goverment in NI would be suspended for years - another abject Brexit/Tory failure, so I reckon Herman is spot on the money.

Was spotted in Nando's with Max exchanging shirts over the table, so pretty nailed on.

I highly doubt that we paid £11m up front for Tzolis, and I can't imagine he's triggered many (if any!) of the add-on clauses. And I don't think it's a case of failing to see it; more a case of we saw it, we thought we could harness it, it hasn't worked out, and someone else believes that they can harness it instead. And besides, it's only an 'option to buy', so there's every chance he could do a job for them but they then decide he's not worth signing.
  9. 3 points
To be fair if we can eventually get back close to what we paid for him it will be quite a result. He looks a boy in a man's game. This could be last chance saloon for him. I hope he pulls his finger out and realises some of that potential.

I think, and this is reading between the lines, putting 2 and 2 together etc, that brexit has become a worse fiasco than any of us predicted. 😉

Had a Bee nest in a shed wall for the last couple of years, yesterday they swarmed on to a nearby fig tree. Called a man ( Steve Redmond, renowned open water swimmer....and Beekeeper) ... all safely moved to their new home by 7-30 am.

Completely agree. I know it's a well worn point but nobody would be making this endless list of excuses for him if he'd cost £1m. But due to the big fee people want to believe that there is this hitherto untapped talent his last 4 managers have failed to bring out. I honestly expected him to go to Twente last season and tear up that league. Him being benched and eventually returned was not on my bingo card but the fact a change of scenery did nothing to boost his confidence is quite telling to me. I think some may have to accept that he may be one of those who had a fantastic season in Greece but failed to kick on. It happens, football is littered with players who shone brightly but briefly.

I hope you are contributing to his CPAC or rather his legal fees Jools. So tell me how a bloke can get all his judges appointed including to SCOTUS and those judges still give the go ahead for him to be charged? Could it be that there is enough evidence to convict him? We have all seen it. What is stopping you?
  18. 2 points
This is just a bit silly. Players can't expect to have entire systems built around them. They have to be able to adapt their game somewhat. If Tzolis can only play in one very specific way then that is a huge flaw in his own game that he needs to work on. Managers and systems change, if a player is so incredibly inflexible that he can't change at all then that is on them. I have no doubt if he showed the talent you and others seem to believe he keeps so well hidden then one of the last 4 managers would be finding a way to get him into their system. But as it is Farke, Smith, Jans and now Wagner have all felt he doesn't display enough talent to make that worth while.

Can we all now admit that he is fat, slow and crap. All this 'there's a player in there' has to stop. He was an absolutely awful signing, an awful pro and an awful player. Poor poor poor from the club and we do this too many times for my liking. Good riddance and let's hope next time we spend a few quid we don't buy a fat teenager from a rubbish league who is totally ill equipped for top level football.

Happy if this appointment is true. Still a shame to lose Webber though.

Come on, your argument doesn’t carry weight! 4 mangers haven’t fancied him; and now he’s been shipped out again on loan! Wether it’s ability or application (or both) he’s not good enough! If he was, he would have played more! To suggest he’s being mistreated and 4 different managers have it in for him, is borderline hysterical!

I wouldn't have been averse to us selling Gunn, as vague reports recently suggested there has been some big money interest. Krul is a very experienced and influential figure in the dressing room and some aspects of his game probably better Gunn's, most notably command of the box. Krul would be perfectly good for another Championship season, with Reyes in the waiting. The write-ups for the latter being very encouraging. I am probably a lone voice in this having maintained great regard for Krul, whilst having initial reservations re: Gunn. Having said that there is no denying that Angus has been excellent since his recall. Economics I suppose.

Damn, the reason we weren't getting a DCM or another defender was that Lungi could play there, or upfront, or take over the referee if he got injured. Now he's out, we're screeeeewwwwwwed!!! 😆

Well Livramento has moved to Newcastle. We will see shortly whether Southampton will move from Max now or it was pure speculation. I suppose Russell Martin being there will probably help their cause, if indeed their interest is real.

He's held decent positions at Man City and West Ham, so has learnt a lot about that side at both clubs and at a high level. Would be a good option. Very approachable chap as well, he'd certainly communicate well to the fans.

Still got two years left on his contract after this one. If he smashes it out on loan he's got plenty of time to make another proper fist of it here. It's the right move for all involved.

For every Buendia there'll always be a Tzolis - football is littered with 'you can't win 'em all' stories. Time to move on and hope some sort of fee is forthcoming at the end of the season.

That depends on what you find exciting. I found the inch-perfect pass to Sargent (Blackpool game?) exciting. I found the perfectly weighted pass to the inside left position in the Toulouse game exciting. Don't get me wrong, I like Rowe very much and I think he is an exciting player, but in a completely different way. As you said earlier, probably in a way that much better suits what Wagner is trying to do.

For years fans have given youngsters coming through or bought a hard time, whether it's morris, the murphys, lewis, idah or even last season aarons. Its also ironic some blindly support one while laying into another. Tzolis arrived at the worst possible time, relegation season, horrendous atmosphere last preseason and an end of season under wagner that sapped the confidence of every player. He may not end up justifying his fee but as a young player in a new culture (on and off the pitch) its no surprise he may tale a while to adjust, even seasoned pros can take a season to show their best. Reading the runes (guess) he won't make the game squad on sat, how he reacts is something we don't see and can only speculate and invent about. We have to start with a fresh slate this season, whoever makes the starting xi we need to get behind and give them our support, at least for the first 6-10 games.

Unbelievable. The Brexiteers really are a bunch of losers it seems. Let me get this right in plain English - the EU has already imposed all it's health checks and border checks on UK goods entering the EU as expected, but this Brexit government hasn't (can't) reciprocate with our checks as it would push up inflation, damage the economy and add £422M to costs. Talk about shooting yourself in both hands and feet at the same time. Some mother's do 'ave 'em. Sounds rather like the SM 'CE' and UKCA fiasco mark to me. Simpler and cheaper to just accept the actual reality and rejoin the SM. At least we'd get a say in the regulations (which we now defacto accept it seems but don't have any say in the moment).

It was more than just that with RvW. Snodgrass was a senior player who acted in a way that told RvW he had no confidence in his ability as a striker in front of the whole squad. It was a humiliation.

That he's still young, and one for the future, as we were told the minute he came into the door. And yet people continually **** on him. And let's not forget that they are three coaches in a row who've failed to deliver over the time that Tzolis has been at the club, all played Idah, Rowe or Sage out wide as opposed to Tzolis too - I don't care how experienced they are, they are really terrible decisions to be making when you have a young player wanting gametime and to break through into this squad who's already got Europa/CL experience. Playing Idah and Sarge out wide over so many minutes even tarnished their reputations in the process. Farke had high praise for him, and Wagner pulled him back into the squad but wasn't happy with fitness, and so it continues now. I don't get why people can't appreciate this and want to slam him. He's our player, never sulked, never moaned, always available when called upon, played for U21s when asked, all while his career has been put on hold by this club. I think he deserves some respect for how he carries himself, and hope that he gets the minutes this season as he's brilliant with the ball and very mature thinker for his age. You carry on ****ting on him, and I'll back the fella up. Easier to knock a man down, than help him off the ground, right?

If you hadn't got your pre-season training right, that could bring a whole new meaning to running into a brick wall after 70 minutes.

Hard to tell with youngsters, especially when coming over from another country. Makes more sense to put him in the Academy set-up. If he's got the minerals, he might just pull a Kellen Fisher off. If not, or he needs more time, then it's a bit easier for him.

I am the oldest person in my street of 20 houses. I am the only one that hangs their washing out to dry. I'm also, to my knowledge, the only one that doesn't travel by plane. The family opposite have just left for their 3rd foreign holiday of the year so far. I think 'entitled' is the word that best describes the situation.

I’m sorry, but I just can’t agree. Firstly, you can’t discredit the argument that three professional managers (4 if you include the one from his loan spell) haven’t fancied him. That’s too much of a coincidence, isn’t it? Secondly, how can you be sure his attitude is decent? Never sulked or moaned? I watched him tantrum when brought off against Stoke. Frustration, sure, I get that. But I’m not sure how you can confidently credit his attitude? The bits I’ve seen of him I just don’t think he’s up to it at this level. Sure, he has moments, a couple of nice through balls spring to mind, and a goal, but he’s so inconsistent (you’ll argue that’s because he doesn’t play enough) and goes missing for large periods of games he does play and becomes totally ineffective. I don’t think he’s managed to integrate himself fully. I get the impression he’s struggled with picking up English language and culture, and he doesn’t seem like a hugely confident person off the pitch. That could just be my misperception, though. It could be a legitimate reason, but if so, how long do we wait? I’m certainly not taking a dump on him. If I see quality in a player I’ll support his inclusion. Nunez for example, he splits opinion. But for me 100% we have to find a way to play him, because when he’s bang on it, he looks exceptional and the team’s performance rises. I can’t say I’ve seen that sort of impact with any performance from Tzolis, unfortunately.

Everything that is happening to our political string duet, has come about because real base democracy has never existed. We have rogue MP's being washed dry by the media for x y or z, because there is no way for elected reps to be re called if they embarrassed themselves or have done nothing to serve the constituency they were elected to represent and support. Our MP's are addicted to power because party politics has a tight grip on what they allow voters and what not, hence their rejection of giving us a choice on a truly proportional system and gave us an ultimatum, take it or leave it option, the resulting public debate on the options divided the population even further. which brings me to their tactics and that of the prevailing media barons. As long as they are able to play people against each other, without providing any real solutions to our needs, we will forever be divided. Using tax politics/policies further divides us, as they will always favor those who are donating to their party and those party members who have clout, such as County cllrs. and establishment individuals who have deeply in-bedded themselves into the system and are benefiting from the hand outs of our taxes to them for projects such as HS2. The UK is incompetent when it comes to large national projects and relies on con/insultants and favourite operators to make it work, by having all liabilities paid for by public taxes, those who are in charge of their finances, the banks we bailed out in 2008, are taking massive cuts from developers making projects hellishly expensive and allowing insurance companies and loss adjusters and and and, a long line of hangers on, to all benefit from a mega expensive public projects. Its like a pile of muck attracting flies. Elections are superfluous now as no real choice exist, because of cheating by established parties, well practiced by all of them, will always end up with the same expensive pendulum politics, were one parties policies and wants is being torn down by the next elected incumbent, resulting in the same dull control freakery and secrecy as existed before the election. I prefer a random selection of Individuals, chosen annually form NI numbers in a constituency, to serve for a year and then be replaced by a random selection of the next person, ideally gender balanced. One year would make it impossible for corruption to get established and a recall petition of some 30% of voters in a constituency would trigger an automatic re selection. Our national politics would dramatically change. Gone are the 300plus million it costs to undertake a very old fashioned election, no more paid counters or a need for political parties, no more lies at the doorstep. Parliamental debate and or policy decision making would be prioritised according to what voters decide to be the most important issues are, and what would be left of the civil service would be grouped into these policy areas so they can serve to electorate as well. Lobbying for attention and support from outside bodies/individuals would cease, past positions and or services relevance could be kept in 'support think tanks', lets see who want to volunteer their services or share their expertise. Without a different electoral system change will only come about by insurrection and or a revolution/war. But the latter is currently putting a stop to all electoral activities. lets debate...
