Must say I'm a touch confused. Of any test series how is this the one to make you lose interest?!

Just been to Trimingham to watch the Bee Eaters. Well worth a look. Very helpful RSPB staff on site.

There were a fair number on here last summer who said the very same about Burnley.

No, what's ridiculous is people demanding that their petty playground tribalism is more important than normal human compassion. Some of us take a bit more of a balanced view of the world. I've enjoyed our past rivalry with Leeds and, while I don't like the arrogance of some of their fans, I hope Farke can impact the culture of their club. That's the thing I love about Daniel: he's pretty honest and humble. Ultimately it's better if teams can be successful by playing good football rather than just spending money. You either want managers like Farke and Martin to succeed, or you accept that the only path to winning is with the backing of billionaires.

I asked the RSPB bloke and he said they were still going in and out of the nest hole in recent days but there is no feeding going on or any sign of egg incubation. While i was there they occasionally flew up to the bank where the nest holes are but i didnt see them go in. There is still a short widow if they decide to have another attempt according to the information I was told. Mostly the three birds were perching on the telephone wire and swooping down for bees, flies and even butterflies. I took my binoculars but it was also possible to look through the high magnification telescope used by the RSPB people. It was a great experience to see these colourful summer visitors in real life. My wife and daughter accompanied me and also my great grandson who had a day off school due to the teachers strike. I strongly recommend anyone interested in birds to give them a look if you are in the area. Its a fiver per person with easy parking in the field opposite the quarry but the RSPB bloke didn't charge me for the boy because he had his NCFC shirt on. 😀

Money has destroyed the game but we only have ourselves to blame, by paying the monthly Sky/BT subs etc.

If we ignore the recent share allotment offer in theory this would be a private transaction initially and relatively straghtforward if both parties fully agreed with the terms of it. Once completed, as the club is a plc, MA would be compelled under Companies Act rules to offer to buy all remaining shares at the price per share paid to Smith & Jones, unless MA had paid someone a higher price per share in the preceding 12 months when he would have to offer that higher price. This is on the basis he had now moved over the 30% shareholding limit that triggers this. He may also in buying Smith & Jones shares take his total shareholding over 85% (there is considerable doubt over how many shares he actually holds at the moment), if so then he can force other shareholders to sell to him at that higher price. BUT, the share allotment agreed at the February GM totally screws that simple process up! So Big Fish's succinct reply holds; it may have seemed simple on paper, but the protection of minority shareholdings in a plc means the authorities have to be absolutely sure those minorities will not suffer financially as a consequence of this deal, unless of course those minorities are happy to make such a loss. Hence all the talk of "waivers", further shareholder votes and Ethics' ncreasing excitement!

You are the one talking bollox. Until the early thirties the UK used the Gold Standard for a start. Have you never considered that the success of Trade Unions, the end of Imperial dependence and the onslaught of technology that was fostered by WWII have not contributed to the growth of the UK in the 50s and 60s which led to the emergence of the market which was strengthened by Thatcher and Reagan as well as Glasnost in the 80s? When the markets collapsed, who suffered the most? Did the markets suffer austerity as most people did? No, they got bailed out and now they are acting as if nothing happened and they are back to their selfish ways.

Nothing screams "little ol' Norwich" more than an obsession about who is the bigger club. We have been more successful than the other two over twenty years, yes, but realistically there are no significant differences in "size" between the clubs. The financial fundamentals are pretty similar, as goes for another dozen clubs or so. In selling their most valuable player Cov were able to offer the lad better terms and a place in a top end Champs team. The idea that he might make that choice based on the basis of which club was notionally the biggest is fanciful.

I imagine Ipswich will have a decent season after doing well last year. Hopefully just not too well and also lose both games against us. I doubt anything will happen on Max A until his return from international duty this weekend. It will be interesting to see what happens with Andy and whether any interest has materialised at this stage, given the initial interest in him.

Stuart Webber without doubt had the biggest part to play in the single biggest failure this club has experienced in the last 25 years. I include the league one relegation in that, particularly in terms of the golden opportunity 21/22 gave us to literally change the club’s future for the most part of ever. Yes, League one meant serious financial difficulty but realistically it wouldn’t have made much difference in how we were operating financially at that time anyway. Stuart Webber also played a major, major role in the biggest, most impressive success this club has had in the last 30 years. 2018/19 must never be forgotten, nor romanticised and dwelled upon for too much longer if we want to be anything different to that old stickler - “little old Norwich”

It gets boring when threads on the subject get derailed by petty squabbles. I'd probably like to know more on the detail of what's going on but I can't be bothered to trawl through pages of arguments. I'm starting to feel ambivalent about the whole thing now.

In fairness results against South Africa New Zealand Pakistan and India… Posted before this test that if you add up the averages of the players off the bat in this series, England would have won both tests - the batting isn’t the issue. The issue has been the much higher number of extras from englands bowlers and the dropped catches, sloppy fielding etc. This batting performance isn’t great today/yesterday but had we bowled and fielded better in the first two tests, we’d have probably been sitting here saying you’re allowed one bad day at the office batting when you’re already 2-0 up…

Tbh Kenny was one of our better players last season and look what the squad achieved without him and Hanley. Sainz on paper has better stats than Hernadez who we all know has little end product, so you would expect if he can adapt will be better and should in theory improve at his age. Camacho we dont know at this stage whether there is any truth in that rumour. All remains to be seen, but for me they are better options based on what we had last season, which our wingers offered very little in terms of output.

There will be 3 worse teams than them. I can't see beyond the 3 relegated teams from the EPL competing the autos. As from the rest, who knows. Sunderland showed that the gap from top League One to the Championship isn't that great and all 3 coming up this season play better football than they do.

When talking about Ipswich you don't mention anything about the last twenty years, in fact you hardly mention anything that has happened since 1981. Surely you know that?
  31. 1 point
Yes. There are probably more question marks about City than the other two. Quite a few imponderables what with uncertainties surrounding the American involvement, Webber's future and even the manager's true worth. Throw in possible sales and the money question and even whether such players as Tzolis and Idah will finally blossom and nothing at all can be forecast. We are far less settled as a club than we have been for quite some time. Will Delia roll her lucky dice once again? I remain positive, but it can be a difficult stance at times.

I suspect it will be a simple conversation: Webber: good news Daniel. We are no longer hampered by lack of investment. If we go up we will be able to have a sensible wage structure to get the three or four quality players you wanted last time. farke: yes, loved that club but the ownership and lack of investment meant we would never break the glass ceiling. webber: exactly

Fantastic. Appoint the best for the job. Given a choice between her and Dean Smith, who would you have here next? Pity it wasn’t us really, the Delia/Zoe/Whoever she is dynamic would’ve been facking brilliant. And the grudging harrumphing if she was a success haha The stuff that could make PinkUn threads of all time!

What has weakened our Balance Sheet is paying excess salaries to mediocre footballers and administrators plus lawyers and consultants. An upper middle class conspiracy acting against the interests of loyal supporters underpinned by weak supporter consultation mechanisms which would otherwise challenge it.

Store find An email received today from Richer Sounds. If you are looking for a TV or sound equipment give them a look. Nice to know in these times that there are still some decent people out there Writing this is, admittedly, a bit of self-indulgent therapy for me after the toughest 12 months I can remember since I started Richer Sounds in 1978. Last April my colleague-owners felt the business needed my supposed knowledge / expertise and, combined with the serious problems in the economy, gave me a call to lend them a hand. After a sustained period of extremely hard work and long hours from all of us, I am pleased to say that the business is in better shape than ever, with a team that I hope will continue to build and prepare us for years to come… an important consideration seeing as my mortality is a given. So that’s good news for us and, hopefully, for you, our dear customers, to know that Richer Sounds will keep going strong, but the economy is another thing… Adam Smith rightly said all those years ago that you cannot have a happy society if the greater part is poor and miserable… so where did it all go wrong?! The very rich are getting richer, some deservedly but many less so, with everything from Porsche cars, Hermes ties and private jets ‘flying off the shelves’… with a huge gap until we see only Greggs, Primark and charity shops booming on the high street, along with record sales of baked beans (I am simplifying a bit here). But, as citizens, we are experiencing the greatest inequality in our lifetime, which makes me very concerned. Surely we all care about the many, many people struggling? In my opinion, for what it’s worth, and many of you may well suggest I should stick to selling stereos, we must first urgently plug the tax gap to stop the enormous amount of unpaid tax leaking out of the system to ensure that everyone pays their fair share and which HM Treasury could definitely do with. I really am non-party-political (even though Nick Ferrari loves publicly teasing me about my long-distant-past donations to the Tory party). I am just hoping that whoever runs the country has integrity, is good at balancing the books and has a genuine social conscience - someone who acknowledges the unfairness of growing inequality as well as the danger this poses to social cohesion and happiness. I would also love our leader/s to please sort the disgraceful state of housing for far too many non-homeowners, as well as the NHS’s and the criminal justice system’s problems while they are at it… And when I say ’sort’ I obviously mean ‘invest as necessary’, including paying the real living wage as a minimum to allow working people to live decently, and banning evil zero-hour contracts when imposed on workers against their will. And don’t get me started on the water monopolies… Anyway… sorry to rant, apologies, I get carried away… I can hear our marketing team shouting in my ear to ‘get on with it!’ I wanted to mention just a few things, whilst writing, about our VIP Club benefits (which, as you all know, are available free of charge to all who are willing to let us send them these emails). We had this great idea recently that if we wanted customers to visit our stores, we should try to entice them down (who knew?). So we now have many prices cheaper in-store (and some very expensive free soundbars with tellies) than we do online, for our club members. And our range of ‘inflation-busting megadeals’, that we sell at close to cost price or even at a loss, to help those having a tough time, goes from strength to strength. In the meantime, we will keep our chin up attempting to deal with rampant rising costs and doing our best to advise and help our long-suffering customers afford the very best electronics they can with their hard-earned cash. And as for customers who are less financially constrained and are considering a home install, we absolutely love you too... and have an amazing custom installation team on hand who can help with all manner of projects, from the design and build of custom home cinemas to kitting out anything from boardrooms to submarines (we really have done several). To our great relief we are managing to keep our heads above water, but it has taken every tool in the toolbox to keep us there, not least the efforts of the wonderful team I am lucky to work with. And thank God we own our freeholds and have no debt. Finally, I would like to thank the consumer organisation Which?, who voted us the UK’s best retailer, for the fifth year running last month, and, most importantly, I’d like to thank you for your much appreciated loyalty and support which we will never take for granted.

Agent Farke is in place. Let's hope he is as successful as agent Lambert was at Ipswich.

So now we're using other friendlies as a stick to beat the club with? Wow.
  45. 1 point
Tbh we used so many players I lost track a bit of who was who out of the ‘age group’ players…whereas my son seemed to know all of them. I’m obviously getting old. I did notice our new fella Stacey looked pretty decent, but of course it’s an only a preseason friendly and the first of those, so you can’t really read too much into anything.
  46. 1 point
I wouldn't like to see Farke flop because I liked the man, but of course I wouldn't want his Leeds side to finish above City. Alex Neil gets my respect as well, but he seems to be able to look after himself and he has earned a decent reputation. Alex has less to be disgruntled about Norwich City as Daniel has. Plucked from relative obscurity in the Scottish Leagues he has established himself in the more lucrative English set-up all thanks to Mad McNally. Farke's sacking, by all accounts, was a clumsy, disgraceful and premature episode. The man was worthy of better treatment. As for Russ? Good luck to him. A fine servant to our club, undeserving of the criticism he received from many, and I wish we'd have got him in instead of the alien Dean Smith.

I'm pretty sure Farke made a big connection with our club. His whole demeanour and attitude was one of respect, admiration and love for the club and the area and it is quite possible he won't find that again in his career. He'll be professional and respectful and probably successful in other jobs, but he came across as someone who bought in to us and I don't think he'll get that at Leeds, in fact I'm sure he won't. He might get big success - I hope he does - but it isn't a family club, it isn't Norfolk, which is still one of the best places in the country to live and there is a larger element of lowlife in their fanbase than ours. He has a huge, maybe impossible, job there - he has to get the fans to buy into him and be patient, he has to deal with what egos will be there and he has to instill that sense of togetherness that he tried to with us. It will be interesting to see how he gets on......

Let us down ? We sacked him, dont think he owes us anything

I think she's talking more about the immediate future in regards to expertise over investment. Why would a minority shareholder be splashing the cash? Once he's takes the helm I'd be surprised if there wasn't investment. Not throwing around cash for the sake of throwing around cash but his aim will be to increase the value of the club and it'd be a struggle to do that without investment. Doing that is literally his job. Obviously we'll know when we know but I wouldn't be worried yet,

Why give him a hard time, that tool Wagner has hardly been a massive success since he's been manager.
