I am a negative person. You will not be shocked to read that if you have read one of my posts in the last twelve months. I need to say the following: The 40 minutes we had last night in the third period are the most exciting signs I've seen since the Coventry game, despite the youthful Toulouse side we were up against. We had creativity, nous, flair and accuracy with what we were trying to do. It left me thinking that with Sara, Nunez and most interestingly, Tzolis (cutting in from the left to fill the half space pockets and positively impact the game) we might be on to something, I hope they don't sell Tzolis - I'm convinced there is a player in there. We look as if we should be as defensively solid as any Norwich side I can remember in recent history. I alluded to in the match thread. Not many Championship clubs would baulk at the idea of Duffy, Gibson and Hanley being the senior centre backs in the squad. Kellen Fisher is giving off serious 18/19 Max Aarons vibes and looks oven ready. Sargent will score goals IF he has enough chances created for him. He is a decent finisher - not on the Teemu level but he will score different goals - accurate, meaningful crossing is a must. I really, desperately want Adam Idah to do well. I hope one goes in off his **** against Hull and he goes on to score 20. If Aarons, Rashica and Omobamidele do leave - we will re-invest and dare I say be stronger for it (if our boy Stu spends it well...this window looks to be one of his hits so far - to his credit). Again, I am a negative person - no problems admitting that. But, I'm willing to give everyone a chance. I do fear the cauldron of Carrow Road is ready to bubble over and a few setbacks early doors should see to that. But this gobby internet mouth will try his hardest not to be a bubbler. Never mind the f'ing danger. Captain -------------- @littleyellowbirdie @hogesar From where can I collect my badge?

Not really if you have been paying attention to the structural changes to the tactics since Wagner arrived. Playing McLean deep is for when we have the ball, rather than when we don't. The shape of the team is designed for a full and high press when we don't. The result of this is there is no place for a classic DCM. The fan base have an obsession on this position being required for historical reasons. I fully expect that this tactical change will result in the team conceding fewer goals over the season than for many a season. So that isn't going to be the issue, that will be more about scoring them. Btw I see Sorenson getting very little game time this season (again).

Welcome to Rays Funds, supported by Cavell Healthcare and Turner European Consulting. https://www.cavellhealthcare.co.uk/ https://turnereuropeanconsulting.com/ Hope all you PUPs are having a great summer and are refreshed and ready to go for our 17th season. I’ll be posting the first week’s thread next Wednesday 2nd August from sunny Scratby. We got a major boost this summer when Cavell Healthcare made a brilliant donation to our presentation pot again giving us a great start to the new season and taking the total amount raised for the CSF to 25,346. Thanks so much to all at Cavell Healthcare for this continued support. I’m proud be associated with them and of course our friends at Turner European Consulting. Here are the latest totals... This is the point where I ask for your tenners to finance the season. My paypal is canaryeddie@aol.com. We need 40 tenners to finance our final six for the season. As things stand we don’t have funds for the Norwich bet. I’m loathe to ask for more funds in these tough times and all the money we get through donations, sponsorship, pledges etc goes to the presentation pot. I think we can manage quite well doing just the final six but let me know what you think. It’s your thread. Here is where I’d normally try to explain how this all works but after failing miserably for sixteen seasons I’ve decided it can’t be explained. All I can say is it works thanks to the ingenuity and generosity of our PUPs and all we have to do is send a tenner, make our picks, enjoy ourselves while watching the presentation pot grow. Just a reminder that Rays Funds is for all Pink Un posters so please get involved. Here’s the rota for August. As usual our PUPs league winners get the first weeks… 05 Aug - @Parma Ham's gone mouldy 12 Aug – @Inch High aka Inchy.. 19 Aug – @First Wazzock 26 Aug - @Cosmic Twin Also don’t forget @GMF said we could all BOGOF again in this season’s Canary-Challenge which means as in previous seasons all PUPs who enter are invited to have a free go where any winnings go to our presentation pot for our wonderful Pan-disability boys and girls. All details are here:-

I love the overall premise of the OP but I still maintain it's still too difficult to really place much weight on anything in pre-season. What we can say is: 1) Clearly the players are actually adopting Wagner's high press approach now. And that's despite them often having done double / triple training sessions in and around the matches. 2) We are physically bigger and stronger in most areas of the pitch. 3) We appear to be very fit. Wasn't Gibbs still running and pressing 110 minutes into the game yesterday? Beyond that, I think it's a case of crossing our fingers the all the above translates to results on the pitch. One of my hopes is that this high-press winning the ball up the pitch is easy for fans to get behind. Generally you see high effort and pressing and fans get behind it. Would be nice to start the season with a decent atmosphere... EDIT: @Captain Holt You can't have a badge because this is actually more optimistic than my posts. Guess at this point I just give you the login to my account?

He won't. These are the facts. Farage was deemed a "politically exposed person" under the financial conduct regulations which govern all banks. In simple terms it relates to the risk of money laundering. Farage's level of risk was apparently downgraded in 2022 but raised again in 2023 prior to the closure of his account. We don't know why, but the BBC's report of "insufficient funds" doesn't tell the whole story. Properly used, PEP status should have nothing to do with a client's political views as such, but to the risk of receiving funds from suspect sources. We don't know whether it was properly used in this case; Farage would obviously say that it wasn't. Clearly this information should never have been disclosed, let alone by the CEO of NatWest, and she had to go. But Farage may live to regret that he didn't keep his mouth shut too. There are no winners here. A quick PS about money laundering regulations. I know from experience that they're extremely strict and work on the principle of "guilty until proved innocent". Not long ago I wanted to use some surplus cash from downsizing to buy an unmortgageable wreck and do it up. I'd moved the money several times to take advantage of higher interest rates and no longer had all the paperwork. The hoops I had to jump through were unbelievable.

How many still calling out for a defensive midfielder just want that type of player rather than developing a solo CDM role, though? What I mean by that is that you can crave someone like Skipp to come in to this team, but still play the system we seem to be aiming for. It's almost like when people would say that Gilmour needed a Kante to bring the best out of him, we're going a very similar route but our players are less contrasting than those two which should help if someone else has to slot in.

This page has just inspired me to count up how many top flight titles I've won starting off with lower league clubs. England: Norwich, Port Vale, Cambridge, King's Lynn Italy: Lecce Spain: Ibiza Germany: Preußen Münster Netherlands: RKC Waalwijk Turkey: Samsunspor Scotland: Montrose Poland: Arka Gdynia Russia: Terek Grozny* Ireland: Waterford* Iceland: Handknattsleikfelag Kopavogs I think there could be others I've missed, and there are plenty of other countries where I got bored before winning the top flight. Oh, and the asterisks are for where the clubs were actually lowly sides in the top division, rather than being in the lower tiers. This brings back some memories...

I think the biggest problem will be trying to remain patient and open minded while we work out our best starting 11 and the players learn how to play together in a competitive setting. I still see a lot of over expectation on here with people assuming we'll be competing for the top 6. Before we can contemplate that, we need to find our feet having basically been in free fall at the end of last season. Fans getting on the players' backs early could totally undermine the efforts to bring Wagner's tactics to fruition. The underlying concern that some of us have is that it takes a certain level of vision and skill to convert a high turnover into a goal. It's all very well pressing high and winning the ball, but you have to be able to pick that final pass and make the crucial run behind. I fear that we are filling those advanced positions with players who lack the ability to create and score goals. I very much hope to be wrong about this. Whatever happens we will have to do our best to get behind the team, especially if it doesn't start well.

Nat West obviously come out of this very badly. As you have said in another post, they have had to backtrack on Russian allegations but they really didn't need to mention it. He was below the HNW limit and that was enough. Having said that, Farage is showing no signs of suing them. That is because he doesn't want to answer some very difficult questions under oath. The problem with Coutts is not the decision they made but the naive and incompetent way they reached that decision. That decision is entirely down to a woman who was out of her depth. Coutts had more than one opportunity to get rid of Farage. He broke electoral rules and was fined by the Electoral Commission and referred to the Police. He then went to work for Russian State Television who wholeheartedly support an illegal invasion of Ukraine. The only real question to ask is why Coutts didn't get rid of him earlier. It should be noted that no other UK financial institution wants anything to do with him which is hardly surprising. Interviewed on Radio 4 this morning Farage claimed that our banks are monitoring the social media of every UK citizen. What absolute nonsense!

The thing that's most intriguing for me is the combination of extra steel in the free signings and the extra year's seasoning players like Gibbs, Nunez, Sara and Omobamidele had. If those four move on and have acclimatised/become accustomed to the Championship we should be much more competitive down the spine of the pitch when other senior players (McLean, Hanley etc) are not around. Agree with your view on Sargent and I agree he poses a more varied threat than Teemu, although not as dangerous in terms of reliably putting good chances away. Not as clinical with his finishing by any means, but he's good in the air and he can improvise. And FFS, DON'T PUT HIM ON A BLOODY WING, AND THE SAME APPLIES TO IDAH! More than anything, I just want to see a team that can keep the pace and pressure up for prolonged periods whilst being defensively diligent. I'll take a shaky start if I can see the signs of that being in place.

Sarge certainly has the potential to do it, but he's the only one who does. He would 100% be starting as number 9 for me, with Barnes either starting in the 10 role or coming off the bench for added presence and impact (usually starting I would imagine). Assuming Aarons and Rashica leave, I agree with your priorities, unless Wagner has been so impressed with Fisher that he is happy for him to act as backup to Stacey. Plus Sorensen can cover pretty much any defensive position as a third choice. Regarding the central midfielder, assuming it's currently two from Sara, McLean, Gibbs and Sorensen for the two deeper roles; I really don't want Gibbs to get pushed too far down the pecking order as I think he's a great talent who could really shine this season.
  26. 2 points
Agreed. We're still signing the speculative youngsters (Fisher, Forsyth) but trying to use the bulk of our budget on making us as competitive as possible now. I think that by capturing Maddison and Buendía in pretty quick succession, many of our fans have unrealistic expectations of how good that 'model' can be; those were two generational talents, and if we unearth another one like that in the next decade it'd be a huge bonus. I am actually rather confident about this season; my main concern is not having a 20+ goalscorer to replace Pukki. Hopefully Sarge will step up, but neither Barnes nor Idah are that player. Having quality players is one thing; having an astute tactical setup is another. However, the 'secret sauce' is in having players that are of a sufficient quality to successfully play a clearly defined system (a la Farke and Lambert). With Deano there seemed to be no discernible plan, the players didn't seem especially fit or motivated. Wagner is clearly signing players to play an energetic high-press system, and while I don't think we're in HMS P*ss The League territory, I'd be disappointed if we were outside the top six.

I think, and I reiterate think to qualify as U21 and not need to be registered you either have to home grown or have been at the club 2 years, so Reyes wouldn't qualify.....again I think

Confession time. My name is Norfolk Dan and I am an addict. ChampMan 99/00 to around 03/04. My story, dropped out of uni, cause ChampMan. Possible other causes Duke Nukem & SnakeBite. But next it got serious! Got a job, moved back to parents, needed to buy a house. Does anyone recall the save game info where it would tell you start date & last saved date and total lapsed/playing time... so... In a 9 month time frame, I saved the £8k needed for the house deposit by going to work on the Gorleston to Norwich bus, back home, eat and go my bedroom play "Snatch" (the film with Brad Pitt) while simultaneously playing CM as Norwich. Nothing else for 9 months. I played for just over 3 months game time in 9 months. So I of the 8 hours work and 8 hours CM and 8 hours sleep, that's pretty much the ratio..it's a safe bet the sleep was much less! . Best players. Hendrick Magg. CB random game generated player never found again, was 15+ goal a season from CB with never less than 8/10, just a rock. GK Swedish A Isiakson ( spelling .. but went to Villa in real life) He was like Andy Marshall v Newcastle every week. Formation. 3-4-1-2 Always played ,3 CB that way I could keep.players happy and easier to cover injuries. Also could.flex to 5-3-2 plus loads.of other like formations. I always had at least 2 DCM, you know the ball winners and the ones who niggle and break play up, who would have thought you need them in a squad season after season... Almost like it's close to reality! I digress... Had a few seasons loosing just a single league game, but only one where I did not loose a game, plenty of draws. My AMC had to tackle and good long shots. This leads to one of my strangest finds. I played a NCFC DM or DCM who's name escapes me, I will edit it in, worth £75k max, but after a season playing AM he would be worth £1m. He would just tackle and shoot and score. Loved finding these in game quirks. Also another quirk I found was in formation. You could hide your real formation. So if you had a man marking oposition manager you could mess them about by pulling the CF to play wide right and your AMC and CF plus winger all heading for the gap. Hard to explain without screen shots. Achievement. I wish I could screen shot my manager record, but I know this. Many Prem league titles. Won multiple League and FA Cups. I'm not sure I ever won.the UEFA cup, but I'm sure I would have been close, this failure to recall is down to this, that i do recall 3 Champions League finals of which I lost them all, in each of them I was winning and even into the 90+ minute. I recall one final leading with 6 mins of added in time and having 3 players sent off in those 6 minutes. At which point I just assumed a binner had coded it. I did however then become Brazil manager while also managing Norwich. I won the world cup and anything else Brazil played. Key player was a Norwich Brazilian in Deco. I'm pretty sure I made it well into 2030's seasons, Champ Manger "Dan Dan" Retired and can say that I am still an addict, just clean for 18 years.

I'm pretty sure Farke played him shortly afterwards too? I don't think the pen really upset too much but it didn't help his reputation either. But the flip if he DID score that pen, everyone could be talking about him so differently today - it was a sliding doors moment if you consider both outcomes, not the single. For me it's a simple case that he was very young, and still is now - people who parade around saying he's done nothing, and claim he's **** are failing to see what he's good at and the potential that's there. And as much as those haters will disagree, He's not had the minutes, and number of starts to do anything, he's still only 21. We may see him flourish this season, but if he does he's got to get ahead of Rowe (Which I don't agree with personally), and after that you'd imagine that the wide positions are going to be held by Sainz and Fassnacht. There's always the very slim possibility that Rashica is here too. So.. It's going to be really tough and he needs to seize any opportunity. The other issue is, because of the praised heaped on him and price paid, everyone just gives him **** - we were all told he's one for the future and wouldn't be rushed yet everyone just ignores that and slates him for some reason. Same people who will then jump to Idah and Rowe's defence, which just seems weird to me, they're all our young players and we need to get behind them all. For me he's quality, and if the next man can't see it then all you can hope is that he gets the minutes, gets the starts and played to his strengths.

That's brilliant, thanks buddy. Get involved and you will soon get the hang of it. Don't worry about betting, it's just predicting. You predict a team you think has most chance of winning from each weekends fixtures. Once a season you get to pick the six you like best from everyone's picks and I put the bet on. We do the Norwich game every weekend too. So you suggest something for that. There's loads of options and the can be confusing but you don't have to worry about them all. Just one pick. I often do a player to score. But you'll pick it up. It's fun

I think that's the inference, yes. I couldn't see a tweet by Mick where he explicitly says someone will be sold today, unless I missed it? I think his comment 'someone's leaving' is just speculating that because they're replacing Omo with Sargent on the banner, Omo must be on his way. Personally I'd love Omo to stay, especially as I had to remortgage my house to get his name printed on the back of my shirt last season...

    Report extract taken from Sky news website An update from 10 March this year states: "The relationship has been below commercial criteria for some time and upon review of Nigel's past public profile and connections, the perceived risks for the future weighed against the benefit of retention the decision was taken to exit upon repayment of an existing mortgage." The main risks were: Reputational - as Mr Farage is "high profile" and "actively courts controversy"; Financial crime - due to "alleged Russia connections";

I'm afraid you just don't get it. There will always be arsonists, some people get a strange kick out of setting fires. The situation here has been exacerbated by the highest temperatures ever seen. For wild fires to spread very quickly and to become dangerous you need wind and consistent extreme temperatures. The fact that the fires were started by arsonists is irrelevant. The simple fact is that this is an extremely rare event for Rhodes. But for some strange reason you choose to ignore all expert opinion which is that it is climatic conditions causing the problem.

I'm quite disappointed with the manager's comments regarding incoming players. I would have expected that long missing central defensive midfielder and another decent striker (I cannot expect much from Adam Idah no matter how much I try to convince myself that he will be a force) to have been on the menu. I understand that it is still early days and also that we needed cash sales from Rashica and Aarons to fund purchases, but Wagner seems final with his statement. Davis Wagner seems to have made a point of disappointing me recently with his various utterances. I just about get what he is up to with his squad preparation and accept that, but inconsistencies remain in as much as he is always talking a good game whilst at the same time giving the impression that he is resigned to the club's financial limitations and therefore a season, whilst being an improvement upon the last, of being thankful for any success that comes our way. ie. He must know that we need re-enforcements in certain areas, but makes out that he is happy with what he has. All so difficult to pinpoint and therefore who can forecast just what the coming season has in store.
