Jesus christ the posts are getting more cringeworthy by the second. Rupp was decent yesterday. He's no standout but he's technically tidy, works hard and defensively solid. Also linked up play quite well a couple of times and set Hernandez away. This pathetic witch-hunt is showing some fans up.

I feel more sorry for our fans who missed out on three European campaigns because of their moronic supporters behaviour at the Heysel Stadium. i also feel more sorry for fans of Oxford Utd, Wimbledon, Coventry City and others who all missed out on Europe too. F*ck ‘em......

We do not need a new manager, we have one of the best ones we have ever had and ever likely to have.

I reckon that guy called Daniel Farke might be a great appointment for the Championship

Maybe on the pitch you think its the same as 3 seasons ago, but i look at the more important bigger picture. Are we going down?..sure...Will we be knocked out of the cup by Manure?...sure...have our performances on the pitch been more than disapointing?...sure. So the season has been a disaster?...nope...its been successful...care of last season's results . The difference between this relegation and the one under Alex Neil is like chalk and cheese...last time we had an ageing team...financially were up against it..etc etc. Now Colney is looking better...the club are in early stages of a Carrow road expand (hopefully)..we have a set of youngsters who will bring money into the coffers if necessary and fulfilling fixtures helps us as a club beat even the disater of Coronavirus effects. These benefits...compared to last time...are a result of having Webber and Daniel in charge and getting us into the Premier at the best possible time. So the NCFC yo yo-ing continues in the top two divisions...so whats new there?. DF and Webber should stay as long as they want and need to, i had enough of the DF bashers when we werent doing so good in the Champs..but we have to look at the overall improve at the club in all its areas...yes, results on the pitch of course matter to fans...but the general health and well being of a club like City...unique in its self funding ways yet still in the top 25..is more more important than nearly any other club in that top 25. Wanting rid of DF is totally nuts in my opinion.

You really get it! THIS! (Sorry I ran out of hearts and cups!) For me, the age old division between our supporters on this stems from perspective. Immediate term and long term. If football is your escapism and you want to see 90 mins of victory, goals, clean sheets and survival RIGHT NOW then maybe Norwich isn't the club for you or you might need to take a sabbatical?! We are strapped into this long term project in light of recent relegations and their consequences. We've learned from our experiences. Thank goodness. People might as well trust in the folk that delivered them the EFL trophy (and have far more footballing knowledge than them!) and get onboard. You can't smugly clap when the sun shines and spit daggers when the fog rolls in. Support the club! Be proud of and excited by the journey we're on. If you want constant success buy a Liverpool shirt - they can purchase it off the peg for you with their bank balance.

The reality is three years of Farke & Webber, we’ve built a team from mostly our youth set up, second division German players a few million pound signings and in that three years, we’ve gone from reported 30 million shortfall, a fan share option to finance remedial work required at Colney, keeping cat 1youth set up. We had a shed load of very expensive journeymen who didn’t want to play for norwich who had to be offloaded. Given where we are now with the youth recruitment, the development of our youngsters in the first team, a season in the premiership off the back of winning the Championship, there’s a lot of very sad city supporters who really need to take a step back from the constant criticism and actually reflect what a fantastic job Webber and Farke have done, rather than calling for them to go! Take a chill pill and enjoy the club for what we are.

If you think there was more 'desire' from Everton on that pitch I'll never be able to find compromise with you! It just isn't true! Was there less quality ... hell yes. Have Everton spent hundreds of millions of pounds more than us ... hell yes. Questioning the desire of your own club's players is a vicious criticism that should be reserved for footballers that really deserve it. Not these boys.

No idea if you were around in the 70’s/80’s Indy but clubs like ours don’t get into Europe every day, Liverpool do. Yes, we do have long memories. The trouble at Heysel was caused by Liverpool fans plain and simple. They may whinge that the stadium wasn’t fit for purpose, not enough police there, etc, etc, but if they’re such fair minded supporters why did they look for trouble ? Always the victim. I may be disappointed they won it this season but had the satisfaction of seeing them miss out last year and in 1989 when Arsenal did them with that injury time goal. Shame the open top bus parade won’t happen anytime soon either 😢 😃

I'm glad that Webber and Farke don't share your fatalistic approach. I totally hear you about the Championship being more fun; I don't like the PL as the marketing-centric cesspool of greed it is, but ultimately, if we're in the PL it's great for the club, the county and the region in general. Staying there is incredibly difficult on our budget, but it's not impossible. I would argue what's the point of us even turning up if we don't believe that's possible?

In Webbers own words on transfer dealings, 'the manager has the final say, but not the only say' Rupp is an unspectacular solid midfield utility, comfortable enough at PL level. I think the reason he has so many negative shouts at the moment is 'steady and reliable' isn't going to dribble through the whole team and score a vital winner. Thinking along the lines of the Andrew Crofts or Graham Dorrans. I put his shakey start yesterday down to being 90 minutes behind most of the others on the pitch.

Do agree with that. Vrancic should've absolutely played more. Over the last 2 season's our best results seem to coincide with him playing. He finished last season strong too, that free kick against Sheff Wed, the rocket against Blackburn, really feel we've missed out by not playing him. Appreciate he's had injury niggles.. but he can turn it on and can be hugely effective and influential. That first half against Spurs a prime example. Take a Cantwell as a comparison. Looks busier, seems to put more in, gets into advanced positions, but is he actually influential on the teams overall play? Certainly not to a Vrancic level. I mention Cantwell, but Duda as you mention, and Mclean could easily be used in a similar comparison. Its the main thing that frustrates with Farke. I believed he was fearless and would continue to play our own 'brand' of football. But this season he seems to have been a bit anxious with team selection, and tried to play safe. The problem is our safe system still results in defeats.. and therefore leaves Farke open for justified criticism. Hernandez is another one. I know we've had injuries, but I wish Farke stuck to the midfield below when available. After all, no-one as come in to replace them and nail the position. Vrancic Trybull / Tettey Hernandez Steipermann Buendia Pukki This lot clicked, and had almost telepathic understating at times last season. Very frustrated we didn't line up like this more often. I think we'd have scored and won more, especially at home.

Rupp could be a really useful player I the championship and would not be sold for me. We need to retain some experienced players. Duda will return to Germany, Leitner will probably follow. Although I still cling onto hope he'll get another chance and take it. He has undoubted ability and still relatively young. As for Cantwell, I can't see him leaving. I think he's hugely overrated, and maintain his level is still championship, for now at least. But I wouldn't be at all disappointed if we sold him. Very much in the Jacob / Josh Murphy bracket, than James Maddison in terms of overall ability. Bali Mumba looks another astute signing. Factor in Sinani, McCallum, and Sitti, we have some very exciting prospects ready to come into Farke's side. These signings make me think Webber and Farke are still very much committed to the cause. Relegation is not the end of the world, and it looks as though we'll be better positioned than in any other previous relegation. Of course we need to maintain some continuity, and that'll be a tough balancing act. But I feel like there's a plan, and that's reassuring - to me at least. There's always a risk we slip into insignificant Norwich of the mid 90s, or an Ipswich Town style malaise, but we really are miles off that currently.

It looks so bad for Jenrick - and by extension this government. If it wasn't plain vanilla corruption - then Jenrick must be totally incompetent in not realising how this would look and excuse himself at the time from any decision. However - as with everything Johnson related and his voters - all just par for the course. The 'Johnson' party really is in the gutter and needs flushing away.

Fulham spent £100m. And got relegated. Aston Villa spent £140m. And will probably get relegated. If we spent £30m we'd probably........still get relegated, in my view. I get the point about the money and it would be fantastic to have wealthy owners to splash the cash in perpetuity. The nearest comparison I can see to what is being sought is with Middlesbro who also have a lifeliong fan in charge but who does have deep pockets. They got a few years of mid table mediocrity and are now in a fight to avoid L1. I don't think anybody is pleased that we are going down, but I would rather have someone who does seem to genuinely care for the club than any number of the dangerous numpties who have taken over elsewhere. Its not about being complacent, if we could find the perfect owner then great bring it on. But I am not sure they exist and what we have is not that bad. The results may not have been great, but at least I am proud of my club as one seeking to do things the right way, not arrogant and with a great comunity and family spirit rather than embarrassed of it. These things are not to be taken lightly.

Name me one manager in the world that would have kept us up with the squad we have, the lack of finance, the horrendous list of injuries and now when we most need the backing of the crowd to lift our guys, playing in an empty stadium. Any City manager starts the season with one hand tied behind his back, that’s the reality of our club, but then to have so many things conspire against us, he had no chance.
  26. 2 points
Ffs, get a grip. Look at the absolute shower of a squad we have cobbled together and then say it's down to Farke with a straight face.

Everyone is allowed opinion. And when they post I'm allowed to respond with my opinion that it's a load of pansy pantwetting rubbish. Wah wah we lost 1-0 to an Everton team challenging for European places with 100s of millions worth of players. We were defensively awful against Southampton. Farke lined us up to give us a solid base and we then conceded from a set piece. We werent quite good enough. We are not quite good enough. Farke has made mistakes. Farke also proved the bedwetters wrong so incredibly overwhelmingly so last season youd think they'd have a bit of humility

I am quite happy to stay with Farke as he has done very well particularly in developing many youngsters. He does have a poor record with his timing of substitutions and the zonal marking from set pieces etc. He is very stubborn in this respect. The concession last night from a corner, yet again, was so frustrating to see. It was not that long earlier that co-commentator Martin Keown had pointed out that Keane came up late for a corner and was unchallenged. This scenario has happened all season and I fail to understand why Farke and his coaches do not attempt to rectify the problem. It may well be the case that some better teams use the zonal marking system but it is blindingly obvious we do not have the players to make it work. He also tends to be a 60 minute plus substitution man despite it being painfully clear changes were necessary earlier. I do not understand why these blatant managerial weaknesses have continued for some time. At least I suppose you can say that in general terms he has does much better than Mourinho has at Tottenham at far lesser cost to the Club.

The injury crisis from that Man City game onwards killed our momentum and we've never recovered. The lack of strength in depth has therefore been very exposed. Our first choice team is probably good enough to stay up - given that they play every week. But that's never happened. Pukki's loss of form since December was the final nail. I don't think we ever really had a chance with everything that went against us. Compare all that to Sheff Utd, who managed to maintain their momentum all the way through (much as we did under Lambert) and suffered very few lost games to injuries. I don't think we have worse players than them, just worse luck. I suspect our squad is worth more.

to stay up. Maybe we were promoted earlier than expected and thought it a bit churlish to refuse the PL's invitation to join them... at that point So we will play in the Championship once more - and if the football and over all excitement was anywhere near what it was last ime then I can't wait. Are we any worse for having a season in the Pl, I doubt ? We are more financially secure, players have progressed, we have paid off Colney and have more young players in the pipeline plus we have seen some of the world's greatest players at CR For those of us who have been here umpteen times again will know this is what happens. For every Boro in the playoff final there is a Brum. For very Sunderland in the League cup they have been a Villa (Spurs). For the heartache of 1981 there was that glorious sunny day in Sheffield 12 months later. 1-7 at home to Col Utd 1-0 two years later at Pompey For every win we have had over the binners in the last ten years, there has been Klose's last minute header (and nothing else) We'll come again, stick with the club.... and roll on Saturday with the FA Cup in late June ? but that's football, nothing stays the same so enjoy it and be grateful you were born yellow and green

We've only got two players who can consistently split a defence with a pass and one of those is always stuck on the bench. I'd rather we had Vrancic in Duda's position despite his lack of pace, because he's one of those two players.

I, in part, agree with you saying that the 'project' part of what we're doing can be overplayed by some on here. However the above is a hugely one eyed way of looking at Webber's record. Yes he walked into a club that had a few decent players coming through the acdaemy but... 1) He appointed a Head Coach who was willing to use and develop those players- absolutely not a given. 2) He supplemented those players with some amazing deals for talents last season- a 30 goal striker on a free, a first choice keeper on a free, an unknown playmaker from the Spanish second tier for minimal outlay. You can get away with signing a few **** fullbacks if you pull off miracles like that.

I really hope you’re right, Ricky but I’d more concerned that it might just be he might who’s getting fed up with those that will settle for nothing less than Pep Guardiola. And for the record, I’d put my house on Guardiola not have done anywhere near as magnificently under the restraint that Farke has. Him and Webber are the best things to happen to our club for I don’t even know how long. But let’s be real smart about this and get their backs up so we can go back to square one 👍

Indeed Hog, it’s how we bounce back next season. It’s imperative we convince key young players to stay, if they wish to go then demand top price for them, all long term contracts. We need to build on where we have failed for me it’s CM, Tettey has been by far our best player in that position and that just shows where we are very weak. Hopefully we will see Sitti will be that guy to step in next season.

https://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/connor-southwell-s-verdict-city-short-of-quality-in-another-carrow-road-defeat-1-6715896 Good for you, Connor. No grovelling apology, just an acknowledgement of Daniel's pre-match conference rant. An excellent piece posted at 6 a.m, hours after the game. Seems CS has the backing of his employers, and rightly so. He seems to have made a big impact in his first few months there, as well as doing a degree at UEA at the same time, it seems. I felt that DF got it completely wrong in the pre-match presser. It was fine for him to be upset at criticism after the Southampton game, but he could have easily expressed those feelings generally toward comments in the media without making a personal, pointed attack on one article written by a 20 year-old local reporter. Farke went on and on with comments like "poorest analysis I have ever read" amongst other things. For me it felt like verging on classic bullying - "it doesn't affect me, but my coaching staff brought the article to my attention and weren't happy". The PL club coaching staff vs 20 year old. Surely a private phone call from the club to archant to air their grievances would have been a better way to have dealt with this. Don't get me wrong. Daniel Farke is my favourite NCFC manager of all time. I dearly hope Webber and him don't depart any time soon. It just seemed that it was the first time his humility deserted him. During the most critical week of the season, a general rant would have been understandable, and he'd have been better to have expressed his own personal hurt more. He is doing an incredible job and we'd probably have been fine had we had another quality CB and a midfielder like Bissouma (Brighton) in the squad. Top marks, though, to young Connor for not backing down, and still producing excellent work hours after such a public dressing down. He should go far. Clearly far cleverer and thicker skinned than I had imagined.
