Unfortunately doesn’t seem to be the right candidate for the role. Either a complete lack of activity or hasn’t a clue how to fix the mess he has inherited from Webber he has had time to review the club but the lack of any clear communication on what he wants to do short term and more strategically is a concern growing by the day. It doesn’t fill me with any confidence that this mess is going to get sorted anytime soon

TBF, “norwich canary” is a great user name if you’re a binner hoping to pose as an NCFC fan, he’s clearly done his research into our club and captures the essential aspects of our team. 😐

Since he's been in charge. W4 D2 L2. Not bad so far.

He arrived a month ago and we haven't even had so much as a transfer window yet. You've got literally nothing whatsoever to make any judgements on. Even when there has been a transfer window, it takes time to develop and embed. Arguably, not sacking Wagner is a decision of sorts that doesn't seem to be working out too badly.

Hi everyone! This is my first post and I'm a pretty new football fan, so take it easy on me! I have recently become a Norwich City fan after seeing their amazing Mental Health video they posted back in October (I'm sure most of you have seen this). As some background, we lost my uncle to suicide back in January of 2022 - needless to say it shattered our world and this video really hit home. I'm from Canada, live just outside Toronto. A lot of my friends are into football and cheer for some EPL teams, I had just never gotten into it much. After this video, I figured I'd dive ALL IN. I did some research and stumbled upon these fourms, and figured I'd make a post and seek some advice from the community of fans. I've had some thoughts as I've watched matches recently and was hoping some on here could help! What are things I NEED to know as a Norwich supporter? Are there podcasts, YouTube channels, Twitter/IG accounts I should follow? I noticed on the Canaries website that their is a "Toronto Canaries" supporter group - anyone know anything about this? Rowe seems like he is a stud - always seems to come up with the big goal. But why does he come out of games early often? There seems to be a lot of distaste towards Barnes on these fourms. I quite like his aggressive style of play (I come from a hockey background - he seems like he'd be a bully hockey player!) On a similar note, I was a goalie when I played hockey, and I really like Gunn. He seems real composed and makes a ton of big stops at important moments. This group doesn't seem sold on Wagner as the leader - why is this? He definitely seems passionate. Any other advice as a new supporter? Also to share, you can see the big merch box I was lucky enough to get for Christmas yesterday from my fiance - definitely got spoiled but now I'm all in. And spending this morning with footy & Team Canada World Junior Hockey - what better! Thanks everyone!

I would bet the farm that they are being misleading, either because they not realise that what they are saying is garbage or because they are actually trying to mislead. Maybe our library of reference books should be added to. To @Parma Ham's gone mouldy's Macchiavelli and @BigFish es Nick Hornby, should we now add my ownfavourite, Sun Tzu? He is alway trying to identify plusvalenzia one way or another. I think that @Parma Ham's gone mouldyhas made a characteristcally elegant and perceptive job of SWOT analysis on several players, too and how they might be fitted to optimise team performance. Good 'ere, innit? Don

I think people maybe reading too much into the number that travelled yesterday, it is Christmas, household budgets are stretched and for a tenner you could watch the game from the comfort of the sofa, in the warm, drink in hand, surrounded by your loved ones................

For Gods sake can you just give your tiresome stick wielding a break ?

i think he has done a wonderful job since he has been here ! Form has improved dramatically , proved that short term right to keep Wagner for moment , Big test is January transfer window , Can he move a couple of the Deadwood get some younger hungry players in ? Maybe start to reshape the squad , i do not like the idea of waiting till summer to sort Rowe's contract out though but maybe that's the players agent saying wait to see what comes in for him , if Sara Or Rowe are sold it is very important the money is not wasted like Webber did with Rashica and Tzolis and Hayden signings with Emi money

No, the main difference is they aren't trying to play total-football and build a squad to play that style of football in the top tier of English football. They know what they are and they play to their strengths, a bit like us under Lambert. I don't think Luton are anything to look up to and they'll more than likely come down and be below us in a years time.

Nothing to do with the time of year then. All that’s happened is the 20% are staying at home to eat Quality Street.

I know someone who works at the big wine importers near Aylsham. All I did was ask if they were going to start bottling wine in pints. Just as a joke. He went a funny colour and told me to **** off.
  13. 3 points
No, we'd be comfortably mid table.
  14. 3 points
I suggest you take a look at the league tables for numerous examples of clubs that are run in a much worse way than Norwich City.

Wow, everyone…I must say, I was a bit nervous to post my story and new beginnings as a Norwich City supporter on here at first, but man am I blown away with how welcoming and supportive this group has been today. Really feel like I made the right choice in my football fandom. You guys are all awesome. I can’t wait to read through everything again more in depth and start looking into everything you’ve all suggested It’ll be impossible to respond to each of these posts individually but I really want to say thank you for all the time and effort you’ve put into making me feel welcome and helping me learn a bit more about this team. I’m not joking when I tell you all I’m going to live and die by this squad. Might not have the years that you all have but I’ll bring the passion, I promise you that!! (And some Tim Horton’s your way when I can 😂)

This is simply untrue. Boxing Day has no trains making away games much more difficult to attend for non drivers. The reality is that last year we played Luton and around 1, 000 was the capacity of the away end. Prior to this we had played at home on Boxing Day. The previous away fixture was in 2019 in the Premier League at Aston Villa. We took 1,500, far fewer than on a normal Saturday. Maybe worth checking facts before making claims!

It’s an interesting one - if you pay 1000 tickets that’s barely a week’s salary for some players….so not a huge sum for a football club. There is definitely a feeling that the club has taken its eye off the ball and been taking supporters for granted - certainly given current financial times, people are doing a bit of cost/benefit analysis (if sub-consciously) and if the entertainment/form is poor and/or secondary offers too expensive, it isn’t surprising if people stop shelling out.

I am shocked, shocked I tell you, at the idea that people in football might lie to us fans. Add the argument McLean is worth his place and the defence of football coaches and this post is beyound the pale 😀

Sargent seems to have turned into this mythical footballing superstar, who singlehandedly will transform us into a dead cert top six side in some people's minds. Do we miss him/are we a better side with him fit? Yes of course, but I can't see him making that much difference, and of course it'll probably take him some time to get back up to speed. More depends on what business we can do in January.

Looking at West Brom yesterday, I thought their finishing was poor and decision making a bit questionable at times. They have the potential, but to me, 5th and 6th place are still up to grabs for anyone - including us. I don't think P*sswich will sustain their challenge for top two so it could well get very interesting by the end if the season. Could even be our two clubs battling for 5th and 6th.
  22. 2 points
Not sure why a few see WBA as certs, looked pretty ordinary to me and they’ve had some up and down results.
  23. 2 points
We won’t finish top six until we win the 6 pointers. Not going to happen this year unless we beat 6 of the top 8 in second half of the season.
  24. 2 points
The only pertinent question for the rest of us is will this ever stop? Or to put it another way, are you going to be asking dull and uninteresting questions in a vain attempt to criticise the club in perpetuity?

Coming on to a Norwich City forum to explain that you aren’t mentally weak makes you incredibly mentally weak.

Do you think this squad should be significantly better than 2 points from the play-offs? I don't think we're either massively under-performing or over-performing with Wagner. If everyone could employ a manager that over-performs then everyone would do it, wouldn't they? From Knapper's point of view I imagine Wagner is safe for the season and he'll make his decision close season. Wagner makes decisions that I personally don't love (sacrificing a midfielder for Barnes / Idah duo) but there's no guarantee we'd be good enough to control the game with the extra player anyway. He's been part of Rowe having a breakout season and he's been given pretty free license to get into goal-scoring positions. Sainz looks like another who he's been patient with and tried to get him to a point where he isn't such a defensive liability (yesterday showed he's not quite there perhaps on multiple aspects) - and Idah is playing the best football he's played for Norwich. So, it's not all bad.

Our numbers all season havent been as good as previous seasons. Yesterday felt invredibly low given how we usually travel on Boxing Day. The only highlight was a visit to The Vine!

GHOSTS SPOILER ALERT If they had all been sucked off it would have been a better ending. I shall have a look at the American one. I only found out last week that the same actor plays both the caveman and the head! Connor, if you're reading this neither of us should be banned. It is a term regularly used for quite innocent reasons in the tv series Ghosts.

Well he didn't actually blame the defeat on that and was quick to praise most of the players. Whether or not you agree with how he sets up the starting XI is another matter, but not running Rowe and Idah into the ground chasing a game we would probably have lost anyway seems entirely sensible bearing in mind we play again Friday.
  31. 2 points
No we would'nt. Because our defence at that level has always been crap and our players would not be mentally as strong as Lutons appear to be.

Amazing what a bundle of injuries can do to a team though Isn’t it? Regardless of the millions

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Disney Channel. For all the bad things I heard about it, it was a good romp. *Oh and Ricky Gervais - SuperNature on Netflix was bloody hilarious.

How is it then that the OP can make an omission about the 9 key players that are either injured or unavailable for Newcastle currently, then when that is suggested to them they sweep it under the carpet? I would suggest the OP has a problem with the owners of Newcastle rather than anyone else but that is a pure guess

Thank you very much NN I always look forward to doing the Norwich picks and I’m pretty confident we can pick a couple of winners, plenty of suggestions always helps Thanks pups

Only seen Lot 249 (part of the Ghost Stories for Christmas) on Christmas Eve and Ghosts on Christmas Day. Will watch Gone Fishing on Friday, otherwise can't help feeling that TV has been a bit rubbish this week.

I would love to be as optimistic as you, but in my view our current situation is much less positive than you make out. Sargent has been out for a fair while, so we cannot be sure he’ll be able to hit the ground running and rediscover his early season form (which we as supporters would be really pleased to see). As for Sara, in my view he’s been pushed into a defensive midfield position due to lack of any other options. Sara has the most assists and he should be up the pitch, not on the edge of our own box during our own build up play. McLean is more defensive but still isn’t a true “CDM” and other options in Forshaw and Sorensen have suffered injury issues all campaign. When we’ve done well in recent seasons we’ve always had a CDM (Skipp, Trybull, Tettey) and no other team in the championship plays without a defensive midfield sat in front of the back four. Sadly one of a number of oversights by our senior management team in post during the summer.

How many of those 340 actually live in Norwich though, presume we'd have fans in Bristol, Bath, Cardiff etc, in the modern world people move around. Lets be honest, the biggest driver of us taking so few to Swansea away is because the away regulars went all the way to Plymouth 11 days before and saw us get tonked 6-2. Had we beat Plymouth 6-2 I'm sure we'd have seen a few more make the effort. We took 1,600 to that, despite it being the furthest away fixture of the season.

If I am a season ticket holder living in Norwich, its not a huge effort to attend. If I live in King's Lynn maybe I may think twice when we are in poor form. If I live in Bristol I would normally go to Cardiff, Swansea, Plymouth and the Midlands. Not this season.

I'm pretty certain that Champagne producers will change their bottling plants just for the UK. It makes a lot of economic sense. Meanwhile, in Brexitland the scheming EU is still taking the mick.

The messages are actually: 1) you will constantly manipulate facts to suit your agenda 2) Luton are (currently) a well-run football club. See Dylan’s reply below your post.
  45. 1 point
No the message is Luton are an extremely well run local community club with realistic expectations who use the size of the club and their exceptional manager and hard working squad as a catalyst for their good results it doesn’t always have to be linked back to Norwich

TV companies definitely do. TNT are dreadful for going out of their way to whip up refereeing controversy if possible.
  48. 1 point
Sinbins are likely the way forward but it'll be a painful implementation.

This is a great example of this referee being consistent, which is apparently all anyone is asking for. So I expect several apologies to him soon...

Welcome aboard Canadian canary, you have picked a real club to follow and not succumbed to the easy options of one of the top 6 in the PL (which would always disappoint you). Life is rarely dull as a City fan, that's for sure.
