Seven games to go, twenty one points, a hell of a lot can happen between now and the end of the season, Messrs Bailey, Freezer and co are talking as if we’re already there. I think we will make it BUT....... Just saying !

I've just plugged this into Google translate and got nothing.

Just been sent this by a mate - too good not to share. Whoever devised this is a genius.

Yes, but both Webber & Farke also know that trying to secure survival in the EPL has to be done in a way that allows for failure, and allows for it in a way that makes an immediate return to the top tier not just possible but very likely. So these "better" players have to be prepared to drop down into the Championship and buy into the reality that is the NCFC future (as spelled out by DF in that recent interview). While the incoming players will undoubtedly be more expensive, in virtue firstly of our being in the EPL, and secondly their being "better", their profiles will almost certainly be similar to those of the players we already have; and that will likely be reflected in a relatively modest outlay in comparison to the usual run of promoted clubs.

Actually, this is important for people to remember when they come back during some poor form run or something and people tell me to 'play the post, not the poster' ****. Bunch of online trolls, nothing more.

Some of Emi's highlights from this season:

I have to say this is terrible news. I was hoping for a Southampton relegation Gunn as our number 1 and krul as back up. now plan B the return of John ruddy

Don't write that on the Brexit thread. 😀

I don't step on the cracks in the pavement, wear my lucky gloves to every game and alternate my yellow or green tipped socks before every match. As long as I continue to do so, things will go well.👍

He's brilliant. He's just brilliant. I love that he's got the technical quality combined with the dogged passion. He's only going to get better and he's the type of player that will flourish in the Premier League. He's also the kind of player that rich teams throw silly money at. A real asset. I have slight concerns with how he'll react next season when we're not winning games so much. Will he be able to control his frustrations? He's got a rogue tackle or two in him.

https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11709/11674055/emi-buendia-could-be-the-next-big-thing-with-norwich-but-he-was-shaped-by-relegation-in-spain Interesting note - Emi has made more tackles for us than any other City player this season. Not even close either, he's made 25 more tackles than his nearest rival (doesn't say who that is) on 58. One bit I thought was quite amusing: "he has shown impressive maturity - not least during the 3-0 win over local rivals Ipswich in February, when he was kicked repeatedly by blue-shirted defenders."

Essentially to make this a factual rather than a philosophical conversation, let's put some clarity on the situation. We have 7 games left, and are 7 points clear. That means there are 21 points to play for. If Sheff Utd win all their games, then 15 points is needed for mathematical certainty as we are only 1 Goal better on GD....We need 17 points to stay ahead of Leeds if they win all their games, but we are 5 goals better on GD. Every time Sheff Utd or Leeds fail to win, the number of points they drop will come off the total we need to secure promotion. So If Sheff Utd lose on Sat, and we win, that 15 points we need is suddenly just 9 points (10 if they draw). One win, and Sheff Utd to drop points at any time in the next 7 games means we would need 3 wins and a draw out of the remaining 6 games. I struggle to see us not following this through. At the moment, we're playing for a set number of points to secure promotion, but that total cannot go up, and time is on our side as every game takes points off the table for Leeds and Sheff. I know this is all common sense but thought putting it down in black and white might help some see a bit more light at the end of the (premier league) tunnel.

The best part of being in the PL is arguably the season which you get promoted. There’s no ifs, We are going up this season so enjoy it. Regarding the gambling posts, stick to a sensible staking plan, don’t gamble what you’re not comfortable losing and don’t trust any internet ‘tipsters’! These guys make significant profit from their followers losses. And as NN says there is a thread on here which can be participated in risk free.

I'm sure I read recently about what a positive influence he has been throughout the club. Similar to the role Chrichton played in the Worthy team. I'm okay too in trusting DF and SW.

If he is not good enough then why have him as third ? He won't be required to do any less if he is on the pitch just because he is No 3

Very Mortyesque!. Surely. ( I hope you don't mind me calling you that) you get that FF was using ' turned' as a euphemism for knee jerk reaction. McGovern is no world beater but has ,I feel been unfairly slated since he came. I am also prepared to accept the management's decisions, until they are more wrong than right. I can't imagine McGovern's deal is expensive to the Club.

Who has turned on the club on this thread ?
  25. 1 point
Merse was overheard saying "Emu Burntdinner is a top top player", and apparently he's also a big fan of our big German "Marcus Superman"

The thing that's hard for us to quantify is that 90 mins on a Saturday is the result of what goes on at Colney for a week. McGovern zero minutes on a Saturday yet has earned a new contract suggests his contribution has been important. Three keepers is the norm in PL.

Whilst I’m surprised , this thread shows how quick some people are to turn on the club. Personally I’m going to trust Farke and Webber’s judgement.

FTW - Sky Bet are offering 11/1 for City NOT to be promoted - Football > Specials > Team Specials> End of Season Specials. Sheff UTD are 11/10 Leeds 7/4 The bookies have us up. And the binners down (150/1 to stay up.)

Thats the way i the see it too Betho, Man City , Chelsea and the Mighty Ajax do this 'player development and placement'...... Flipping to you and me ,as part of the business that is their Club. I see no reason that if well managed, it could be a very useful income stream, along with the odd gem that plays for us in the first team. Our category 1 status academy is an invaluable asset, which could provide cash as well as players.

For just £10 a year we can be part of this messageboard's Ray's Funds community and have fun and excitement for a year without risk. On Saturday we will celebrate handing over £2,324 to the CSF to help fund the Norwich City Downs Syndrome football team. This will be the third consecutive year over £2,000 has been raised. How do we turn the tenners into so much money? I'm afraid it had little to do with gambling. It's mainly down to community and love. We'd love more current posters to be involved.

That’s just not going to happen. Considering Norwich will only have one senior right back and goalkeeper at the end of the season there will be at least two new players needed. Will cost Norwich around £5m if they intend to fill those positions with permanent additions, even if they are just back up. As soon as a club enters the Premier League, prices for players shoots up. A player that would cost you £1.5m when you are a championship club now costs £3m. Selling clubs will know Norwich are due to recieve £100m and they will push up prices to match. Norwich have had a very clear and long running policy of all money available being used to improve the playing squad. I can’t see why that would suddenly change. Anyway, as mentioned earlier in this thread - Norwich are very interested in Ritsu Doan and he’s cost over £10m alone. So they are obviously preparing to spend. There are only so many ‘unknown’ players out there that can contribute to a Premier League team. The number of Buendia’s around is tiny. I’d also argue he wasn’t an ‘unknown’ as Leeds were very close to signing him ahead of Norwich. They’d even agreed a fee but wanted to do the deal in the summer, Norwich finalised it in the winter window. If you think Webber and Farke will be happy ‘just being there’ in the Prem I think you misread their ambition and determination. They will both want to secure survival and will see that new, better players will be needed in some positions to do so. Those players will cost more than £1.5m.

My mate was a gambling addict - ended up more than £27,000 in debt.... The way he conquered his addiction was.... to become a bookie. He worked in William Hill for a couple of years as he thought it might help him to overcome his addiction if he saw it from the other side... it did 🙂

I called it on 3rd of November that we'd go up, after visiting Hillsborough and watching our boys put on a comprehensive display in a show of total dominance. The next week when we lapsed towards the end but still showed the grit, desire and fight to sneak the win against Millwall in the dying seconds I said we'd go up as Champions. I've got a group chat with a couple of mates, one a WBA fan and one a Villa fan and they had a field day ripping it after I made those bold predictions in there. They're not laughing anymore. Nothing I have seen since then has made me waver even the slightest bit on either of those statements. Yes there are still points left on the board, and it is possible we could screw it up. It's in the realms of incredibly unlikely that we'll drop enough points for both of the teams below us to catch us, and they won't drop any at all. One of those things may happen but I don't see both happening. Frankly, we are the best team in the league, the table doesn't lie and nobody in this division scares me. I think the latest that confirmation will be granted will be Stoke but I fancy it to be good Friday vs Wednesday. We're going up, we deserve to go up and whilst the mathematical confirmation isn't there, the unfaltering belief in this squad from myself, Farke and most importantly the squad themselves says we will go up.

"A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush." "A foot in the door." "A golden key can open any door." "A Daniel came to judgement" Shakespeare from the Merchant of Venice. Daniel in the bible was re-known for good judgement. Prophetic or what? Ask DF what he thinks then. On the other hand: "A miss is as good as a mile." (Stll better off than ITFC though.)

Oops! Thanks FTW. How did I miss it (as bad as a bad Wolfswinckel miss ............) 😳

I thought Dave Freezer's article was balanced https://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/three-wins-should-seal-promotion-for-canaries-1-5976469 Mathematically we'd need 5 wins from 7 games, but 3 - 4 is more realistic. At this stage of the season, points on the board are everything, with the last seven games coming in a 29 day window. We're on a seven game winning streak, and have only lost three out of our last thirty four games. Unless there's an absolute mental implosion, everything points to us going up.

"There's many a slip 'twixt the cup and the lip" and "don't count your chickens before they hatch" etc I would agree that we are odds-on to go up (1-50 according to odds checker) but I shall wait until it's a mathematical certainty until I stop worrying!

Facts speak for themselves, the table doesn't lie, seven points ahead of third, just seven games to go, most of the walking wounded available, benign run-in, our main rivals showing definite signs of nervousness, seeming excellent attitude of manager and players and so on and so on. Come on! It doesn't get much better than that. My glass is still only three-quarters full though .... it's a funny old game. Nah! We're as good as up. Even though my glass is now empty ...... Hic! (Perhaps us devotees are the last ones to ask ... the rest of the footballing world seem to think our promotion is a safe bet.)

100% agree - a pertinent example would be Serie A this season. Empoli signed Krzysztof Piatek from Cracovia Krakow (who play in the Polish top flight) at the start of the season for £3.5 million. By January he was the top scorer in Serie A and Milan signed him to replace Higuain for £35mill. He's averaging almost a goal a game (117mins per goal). He's currently one goal behind Quagliarella in the race for the golden boot but has a better goals to minutes ratio. To give some context to all the above - Piatek cost £3.5mill in the summer from a minor European league. He now stands one goal ahead of (£100 million) Cristiano Ronaldo in the golden boot standings with the best goals to minutes ratio in the league. Sure, they're not easy to find, but if anyone can do it, it is Webber and Farke.

Totally agree with this Broadstairs, an excellent analysis. I think we need to trust Farke and Webber, and be prepared to safeguard the club from future financial meltdown by being parsimonious with the pounds. If we go down, so be it, but we must hold our nerve. If we stay up, we'll easily be able to slightly increase our budget by cashing in on a couple of our biggest talents. Unless we find that miraculous benefactor who's willing to catapult us to the next level, let's just remember how great it's been to play excellent football in this division – and if we end up back here, it's a lesser evil than overstretching and ending up like Birmingham et al.

I agree, Alex. The lads have proved themselves in the Championship and they absolutely deserve an opportunity to prove themselves in the PL. My only concern and I truly mean my only concern, is that we make too many mistakes in defense that we can get away with in the Championship. In this league we can make five defensive mistakes in a game and maybe be seriously troubled about three times and scored on once. In the PL we will be unequivocally punished three out of five times. Other than that, I’m truly going to enjoy watching the lads have fun rising to the occasion!
  49. 1 point
I can agree with that. 😁

Nobody thought Ryan Bennett was a PL centre back but he's had a great season with Wolves. I think Zimbo is a better version and he just keeps getting better.
