5 pointsThe median house price in the East of England is currently Ā£330k, or 11 years median salary (Ā£30k). The UK median price as a whole is Ā£270k, or 9 years salary. Going on the national average, a 20% deposit would be Ā£54k which is 93 weeks pay (before tax). Theyāre supposed to save this while paying on average Ā£280 a week rent (1/2 their before tax wages). If they do manage to find the deposit then theyāre left with a mortgage of Ā£276k, which on a 25 year term at current 4.5% interest rates means repayments of Ā£350 a week. Now letās compare it to when you bought your first home, which on average would have cost around 3 years salary, which today would be Ā£90k. A 20% deposit therefore would be Ā£18k which is 31 weeks pay (1/3 of that faced by youngsters today. Youād then be left with a mortgage of Ā£72k, which even if interest rates sat at 20% would mean weekly repayments of Ā£280. So you see, not only was you only had to save a deposit a third of the size (while paying cheaper rent), even at the absolute peak of the interest rates your weekly repayments would still have been less than those faced by youngsters today. Could you have saved enough money to buy your house outright, while losing half your salary in rent? Because thatās essentially what youāre berating the youngsters for not being able to do, and for them thatās just the 20% deposit. So to answer your question, most are renting because they canāt afford to do anything else, even though they know itās dead money Edit: I also see you mentioned the 5% deposit, however this incurs a higher interest rate usually around the 8% mark. So on a standard property of Ā£270k, a deposit would be Ā£13.5k leaving a mortgage of Ā£256.5k. On a 25 year term at 8% youāre looking at weekly repayments of Ā£455. The median wage before tax is Ā£575.

4 pointsI think it's worth pointing out that it's just one perception that the arrangement is to check Attanasio out. We're years into this relationship now and you'd think they trust in their judgement. I think the best thing to consider in this is when Fernandez considered buying a stake in us, before doing so with QPR, but went in bigger. People who have not been involved in football before can be hoodwinked. Fernandez admitted relatively recently that he had been ripped off by agents etc and his naivity when it came to football had cost him money and success with QPR. Rather than just 'checking' MA out, they can also help hand-over the lessons they've learnt as well as give MA time to speak to senior club figures and get a feel and understanding of how things work in the EFL etc. Basically, he gets all of the advice Fernandez said he could have done with.

3 pointsLook we may not like it but you have to admire what he has done down the A140 since he has been there, in conjunction with their American owners. In a short period of time they have come out the doldrums and become a progressive football club with huge momentum. Sadly the polar opposite of what the higher echelons of our club have done, who in my opinion, have simply sat back and patted themselves on the back for updating a training ground that they had neglected for 20 years, and said look at us arenāt we brilliant and how dare you question us. The bit the fans down the road seem to struggle with is that they think he has ābought into the projectā at Ipswich and wonāt leave them as he loves them. This is absolute bullsh*t and they are deluded (standard for Ipswich fans) if they donāt realise that they are just a stepping stone for McKenna and he will be off when the right job comes up at a bigger club. Itās only a matter of time. Like we learnt with Walker and Lambert, enjoy it while they are there as, if a manager has success at clubs like Norwich and Ipswich, someone higher up in the food chain will come and take him. letās hope he doesnāt have a smile on his face come Saturday afternoon. 2 pointsHe certainly is...back in my day ,early/mid 80s- early 90s he wouldnt have even got anywhere near cassette 2, side 2 of a NOW album. An indictment of where music is in this day and age that he's apparantly as 'popular' as he is.
-
2 pointsChrist, whats the matter with everyone? This is Ipswich we're playing isnt it, not Man City? They couldnt beat us at their dump in December where we were in no form and had several key injuries, we're in far better shape now In the last few games I've seen, they got beaten at Cardiff, we're very fortunate at Blackburn and were outplayed against Southampton and only won because after going down to 10 men, they still had to commit men forward and go for the win as a draw wasnt good enough for the Saints. This bunch of chancers are winging it game by game and a lot of luck is carrying them. I have never and will never fear playing that lot, 20-25 yrs ago when they were going for promotions and we were bumbling around mid lower table (not in a playoff place we are now), we were still capable of beating them, remember the 0-2 at Portman Rd, Iwan Roberts. Likewise even in their best years in their history, in the early 80s , if anyone can still remember that far back, we would be mid lower table but still compete and regularly beat that team even then, in both league and cup competitions (FA Cup '83, League Cup '83, League Cup '85) Even in my first season of going to Carrow Rd in 1980/81 , in a season where Ipswich were going for the first division championship and we were relegated, we still beat them 1-0 , (Justin Fashanu ) in the third from last game of the season, which ended up costing them the title. In the last 40 years , theres probably been 1 season ,I was genuinely envious of them, when they finished 5th in the Premier League 2001...and even then managed to get relegated the following season, whilst playing in Europe and then went into administration soon after. The day I'm fearful of this filfthy club is the day for me to get out of the game...

2 pointsBumping in an attempt to support @Greavsy and get this thread back on track. Hopefully some posters here will be available to support ACN in this great initiative. Going to need every support for the boys on Saturday. All power to you and your team, @Puntino: hope it goes well. OTBC

2 pointsWhilst I'm nothing to do with ACN I applaud their efforts to create an atmosphere. I started this thread to make people aware and have the opportunity to volunteer to assist their efforts. A lot on here seem to have plenty of time on their hands!

2 pointsItās because of the climate. Kids donāt wear jumpers, so they donāt have anything to make goalposts with.

2 pointsAs a Halifax customer, I'll say this if mortgages are similar to loans - it is very possible that rates offered vary radically. I was looking at taking a loan out for some home improvements and they said, based on income/loan situation that they could loan me up to Ā£25K. That was far more than I wanted, and I checked it several times over a month. Got a good mate in to price up some work which came to Ā£12K. Checked out the loan repayments and was happy with the instalments. Then all I did was move Ā£15K of cash into a cash ISA to tie it in for a year. Logged back in, the most they could lend me was Ā£7K. Couldn't do the works after that. Had to do plan B (just renovate the kitchen instead of gutting the kitchen and bathroom, and did a few smaller jobs as well). In other words, don't assume that deals are always that readily available.

2 pointsCrazy people still need this explaining to them. It was tough 8 years ago when I first bought, it is harder now. Me and my wife were living in a one bed in London (where our jobs were), paying Ā£1350 p/m in rent- after energy, water, internet, council tax and travel to work we were spending about 50% of our take home pay on essentials. That isn't including food, general household upkeep. We could usually save about Ā£200 p/m maximum, and that was without taking holidays or running a car. To buy the one bed flat we lived in with a 10% deposit we'd have needed Ā£40k- so based on how much we could save that would have taken us about 16 years to get there. Even then no bank would have leant us Ā£360k on our combined salaries. We instead wanted to buy a house somewhere out of London but commutable because we wanted to start a family. We settled on a place in Hertfordshire and the house prices for a 2 or 3 bed were about Ā£250k- most of these needed some work doing too. Affordable but we still needed to save at least Ā£12.5k (if someone would lend us 95%, not guaranteed) meaning at least 5 years of saving at our current rate, while basically denying ourselves any real fun. This is also before you factor in the other costs which come with buying a house (agent fees, lawyer fees, stamp duty, surveys etc etc). Instead we were able to buy due to a combination of inheritance from my wife's grandfather, some money from my parents and the government help to buy scheme. We ended up with a nice new build we could live in for 5 years and start a family in. Without that though we'd either still be renting or we'd have had to have put any plans to have a family on hold while we bought a one bed flat. The issue for a lot of young people is it feels like the social contract has been broken. The idea was that if you did the right things, studied hard, got good grades, maybe went to uni, got a good job that you'd be able to afford the basics of a nice life. However we're now in a place where that isn't the case anymore and yet you've got people who were able to buy houses in much more favourable conditions claiming it is all because they buy too many takeaway coffees or go on holiday once or twice a year. No wonder most don't have time for that sort of ****.

2 pointshttps://www.sportskeeda.com/indian-football/news-single-greatest-sports-growth-economy-story-former-general-secretary-premier-league-nic-coward-rise-sporting-market-india We had people at that conference, so i'd imagine we're just securing a link in anticipation of that growth. Interestingly Lotus also announced it was entering the Indian market the same month, maybe there's a little incentive to display their logo where our badge features?
-
2 pointsBut if the boot was on the other foot you would be saying what a fantastic season we are having and fully deserve to be where we are - I remember when we rode our luck scoring so many late goals under Lambert but no one was saying then that we were getting results we didānt deserve

1 pointHello Pups , Inchy Iām saying CARDIFF v Hull home win . About 11/5 looks generous to me. Hissing Sid , I reckon Norwich to be winning HT and FT . Eddie , a donation to SarcomaUK should be with you . NORWICH CITY FC , PRIDE OF ANGLIA . šššš
-
1 pointOff to Bundesliga 2 in Germany this week for Inchy... Hamburg (4th, 13-6-8 51-38)v Kaiserslautern (16th, 8-5-14 43-54) - Home Win. Also, thanks to Nutty for that intro. A chance to add to the Sarcoma UK pot, a charity that is very close to my heart. So, in Chelle's name, I've sent Eddie a tenner... Ā£5 City to win, Sara to score, BTTS, and Ā£5 HT/FT Draw/City. For the regular match picks I'll return on Friday so get those options in. Best of luck everybody.

1 pointPrecisely. He and the extremists like Smotrich are the bigger problem of the two. By all means get the Hamas powers that be in the Hague, but he should be in there alongside them. It's obvious what he's after. He wants all of Palestine, but rather than annex it outright, which would justifiably be met with uproar, he's doing it bit-by-bit. Feel sorry for most normal citizens of both countries. Plenty of Israelis going on the protests again though, so let's hope they succeed.

1 pointWe did the classic thing teams do when theyāre in awe or fear the other teamā¦ gave them far too much respect, changed how played and sat behind the ball hoping to contain and hit them on the break. Alas, it didnāt work. So, we move on. As for the Binners, theyāre pretty much doing what we did under Lambert. Theyāve found a system, are full of confidence and are playing well as a team. Sometimes itās not all about star players, but an effective method that everyone plays to. Also, the Top of League 1 is not that far away in quality from that of mid-Championship level. So, if you have good momentum, you can make a good run the following season. This is very different comparing the jump to the Prem, as we know all too well. Hoping to extend that record to 14 games and 15 years, on Saturday.

1 pointThe sad loss of the aid workers seems to have shocked and galvanized the world, Israel's usual allies amongst them. Of course such 'accidents' appear to be happening all the time to Palestinian civilians - but it seems they don't count. All 32,000 of them mostly women and children. The phrase "A war on humanity" I heard used last night. Sums it up.
-
1 pointItās not a question of having a different opinion. I pointed out why I think itās much, much harder today. If you believe that isnāt the case then feel free to provide your own figures and Iāll happily listen

1 pointMaybe get someone to cover for him when he is being asked to play as a virtual winger, maybe help him when there is a total over load on his side. Watch the first goal yesterday, he has 3 players when the cross goes in , but still they have players unmarked in the box.

1 pointYeah but nobody is making a stage musical about the life of Lewis Carroll that completely ignores those accusations. I don't think anyone is saying MJ's music should be forgotten but making a hagiography about him is somewhat questionable.

1 pointI for one love to see the whingeing and whining on here. It helps take away some of the disappointment. This place is lively, even vibrant, and of course much more fun. Iām told thereās twice as much to talk about when we lose. Iāve never understood why. But I say long live the whingers and whiners. Itās good to see them alive and wellš

1 pointif you want an example of what a backward bunch of sick fu(ks russia is now... last year they decriminalised spousal abuse.. so if you want to beat your wife, that's okay. Onward Russia, charging headlong as fast as you can go... Where are you going? Still no answer.. its been 180 years - we need to stop this out of control Troika forever
-
1 pointNot really, people are saying tactically and then blaming the players. If you listen to Wagner, though it's against the "we'll take one soundbite and beat him with it" crowd, he actually talks sense. We were not good with the ball, not good in possession. When you consider that, and the amount of possession we surrendered, and the different phases of play (when you have the ball, when they have the ball, when neither team has the ball) then you can hardly blame tactics. It was a day where we weren't at our best and the best team in the league was closer to theirs. If you can't use the ball well, tactics go out of the window. You can't hold onto the ball and the team will be forced into being more defensive. Get the ball, keep it in the oppo final third and you force them to be more defensive. But you know, that's not the narrative.
