Gordon Bennett 783 Posted July 12, 2022 Good luck to them, they have an owner with a few bob and need to sign a few to replace last seasons loanees. My brother is a Forest fan through our maternal family, hope they have a good go at staying up.

Captain Holt 522 Posted July 12, 2022 Signing a load of unproven premier league players for decent money never hurt anyone did it?
Rolf Harris 31 Posted July 12, 2022 They look like decent championship players. They will be competitively relegated.

But we'll gloss over that again.

Or gloss over the fact that 3 of their best players last season (and they wouldn't have been promoted without them) were loans that they had to replace before thinking of improving the squad.

No, spending this money doesn't mean Forest will stay up, there is a very good chance they go back down. There is also a question of does this spending mean they'll be in trouble next season if they do go down. All valid points but also largely irrelevant to our attempts to stay up. The fact is that Forest, despite having not sniffed Premier League money in the past 20 plus years, have already spent as much or more (depending on which figures you use) than we did in our most ambitious window ever, have a net spend of double ours from that same window and have signed two players for more than our record transfer fee. It spells out how much of a competitive disadvantage we we'll always be under in the Premier League. TheBaldOne66 682 Posted July 21, 2022 They have supposedly offered Lingard 200k a week! Whereas we only offer players Tesco vouchers in comparison 🤣🤣

cornish sam 953 Posted July 21, 2022 So they'be had a net spend so far of c.€75 + loan fee for Henderson (another couple of mil?) with wages to go with them, most of this is on players unproven in the Prem, now they're adding an extra £12m in salary for lingard?!?! They are taking one helluva punt on staying up or they are going to be truly bu99ered when they come back down...

Move Klose 303 Posted July 21, 2022 35 minutes ago, Terminally Yellow said: Is that right? £200k a week?! **** me, that's ridiculous. Which was £50k more than West Ham were offering. A 3 year deal on £200k a week, that's nearly £30m and he's probably getting a few million signing on fee as well. All that for a player who is 29 so his re-sell value isn't exactly going to be sky high. As a player thats a very good signing for them, but that money is insane.

They seem to be spending well and have a very good coach in Cooper. I’m green with envy tbh after last summer - but I do 5 Hail Delias morning, noon and night and it gets me through despite the self-flagellation wounds… Think they’ll surprise a lot of people. Definitely the new Wolves.  (P.s. If this blows up in my face I’ll happily eat my hat)

Football isn't a money making business though, if you break even and have success on the pitch you're doing well (in our case). Unless you can be bankrolled to success it is a very difficult place to be. Forest have obviously gone to the buying their way to safety model, which worked well for Newcastle last season. FFP could be rather interesting if they get relegated though!
