Not if they don’t go up, that’s for sure

Well I guess this means there are suitors for him, which will push up his value.  If he leaves, I think he will be the most problematic player to replace.

Definitely. You don’t easily find strikers capable of the goals per minute Sargent has achieved and that ignores everything else he does.

Replacing him with as influential a player is going to be almost impossible.

He needs to go for big money, anything else isn’t acceptable IMO.

Got to be North of 25 million if you ask me with his Goal Ratio

injury record is not great but i think his Ankle needed a clean up op instead of major op from his original injury

Yes, yes, yes, but he hasn't got a first touch and isn't premier league class... or so a bunch of folks on here will try and tell you.

Leeds will have to offer £20m+.

He first touch is loose, but often directed at the route forward he wants to take. First touch, then muscle, the speed. He's a tricky customer rather than a class act.

£20m is about right, and he will be a fan's favourite at Leeds.

His first touch is poor but he normally scores with his second.

Exactly.

Which is why unfortunately, he will be sought after.

You simply don't get many JS type players popping up within our budget range.

I’d hate to see him go and we’ll definitely struggle to replace him, even if we get good money as we won’t blow it all on a striker.

Must admit though I think he’s one of those who will fail in the premier league and either end up back in championship or at a non premier league class European division.

Hes got loads of brilliant qualities but as already highlighted his poor first touch means he will struggle to make it in the top leagues (although hope I’m wrong as he seems a decent chap).

For me, this sums him up perfectly. His erratic (rather than consistently poor) first touch can be frustrating for us as supporters, but it makes him a very difficult forward to play against. His body is often unpredictable - I get the feeling even sometimes to himself. Because of this, I'm concerned about how well he would fit into the kind of possession football Knapper seems to want, though.

I'm concerned we will not be able to compete for the required types of players for this highly prescriptive approach to style. This is exactly what the club tried with Farke and wasn't up to it at the higher level .

Idah to be new number one? Or do we cash in on him too and overhaul our forward line completely.

I think Idah is gone to be honest. I’m not sure he wants to return and/or can be relied upon to be the first choice striker, especially if we only play one.

I really like Idah as a player but I also think we’ve chronically mismanaged his development.

Please, no. Idah is even less suited to a possession based system.

I'll eat Paddy Ashdown's hat if anyone pays £20m+ for Sargent (or any of our players) this summer.

With clubs now so wary of FFP, I'd be amazed if any PL club stumped up this sort of cash. Sure, if you just look at his goal ratio but that's at Championship level. His first touch and generally scruffy finishing is not up to that standard. In my most humble of opinions of course.

Replacing him will be hard. None of us saw what he could offer when he first signed. Thankfully Webber could. Now its Knappers opportunity to discover an Emi / Pukki / Vrancic / Sargent / Sara

Just one would be a brilliant start.

So you think he is Premier League class even after his poor season there with us?

Many players do well at a lower level but struggle with the step up, I feel he could struggle again if he moved, and as for value, I’d be very surprised if anyone offers 20mil or more.

Offers north of £25m? We need to get realistic here.

He's been great in the Championship but his first touch is loose and that's a huge issue with the restricted time and space in the EPL.

Leeds aren't up yet anyway.

He played the majority, and by that I mean pretty much all, of his football on the wing for us in the premier league. In fact, it was only really later last season that he started being the main striker for us. Also, bare in mind he was 21 when we signed him.

£20m? Armstrong went for that to Southampton when we were looking at him. They offered £15m rising to £20m. Armstrong had never played top tier before that. IMHO, Sargent has more to his game, being powerful as well.

Exactly right. Possession based football will not work in the EPL because this has already been proven twice. But I suspect the Socialists and Mr Norfolk are happy to be in or around the Championship top six with the occasional doomed foray into the EPL to keep the self knackering model ticking over. In the final analysis, Napper's approach will pretty much mirror Webber's but without winding up the numpty fan base.

He will be replaced, just like Fleck was replaced. Sutton was. Pukki was. It's just a forever circle.

In my opinion, Josh is overrated. I would jump at the chance of cashing in and replacing him. But who will th new manager go for…..

(Josh needs a lot of chances to score)

Strangely, and contrary to some comments above, I thought it almost more likely for Leeds to come after Josh if they didn’t go up.  Mainly because of his success at champs level versus prem and because they are unlikely to hold that front line together if they stay down.

We have to get there first! Also it depends on the team not the style! Three teams who went up tried different approaches and all three are down! There is no magical style it’s a lot of variables to survive!
