Good as a aquad filler with skills we dont necessaily have, experienced on a free, has that Ben Pearson vibe, happy to put foot in but not much quality.  used to sitting on the bench.   A final 10 mins close down game signing.

Would be concerned if it was a preemptive signing, eg departure of kenny or gibbs or indicator that lungis injury is more serious than expected.

Hes a much better player than Sorensen.

And Sorensen seems to spend just as much time out injured!

Sorensen can cover at full back as well so a useful player to have in the squad. Maybe ship McCallum  out on loan or sell?

That would leave us with one specialist left back.

I'd much rather move on the emergency utility player rather than the main backup.

With subs benches of 9 players, I don't think it hurts to keep him around. He's not going to command a huge fee and I doubt the wages are exorbitant.

There's a post just two above yours saying Dowell was born in Lancashire. Perhaps check your facts first?

Kind of ironic that after all the Sargent/McLean off to Leeds nonsense that we've signed a player from them.

Maybe this is a sign that Webber has had a change of heart and is going to stay here after all..............................................

Liverpool used to be in Lancashire too if we're checking facts :classic_tongue:

I said there'd be no more signings - I was wrong.

A very shrewd signing, gives us options in defensive midfield and another experienced head. Great stuff 👍

Fair play to you for owning it mate. A good experienced signing indeed!

I knew a lad from Sheffield in the Army and he wanted people to call him  'Scouse' ... he faked the accent and everything. Needless to say we called him 'Sheff' . He used to train  to the sound of Eye of the Tiger too... proper plonker.

Do you reckon if I say there'll be no more signings we might get another one? 🤣

If you say it with as much certainty as before I reckon so 😉

Decent signing as a freebie!

One thing for certain if he can stand a David Wagner training regime then actually playing will be a doddle!

Not sure what this says about Wagner's confidence in Sorensen!

Merseyside is a metropolitan and ceremonial county in North West England. It borders Lancashire to the north, Greater Manchester to the east, ...

The path has clearly been marked, if it wasn't before.  Round up a 'magnificent seven' type of experience and give it a real good shot at getting promoted. One job, get promoted/win the title.

Meanwhile, we saw the future last night with another (not quite) magnificent seven playing for the U21s.

It promises to be one helluva season, so hold tight folks

Another player with good PL experience. The only issue is his injury record, but I think signing him on a one year deal with the option of extension is the ideal contract for a player of his kind

Worryingly not learned our lesson from Hayden then!

Hayden was bought in in the hope that he'd become a 40+ start a season player.

Forshaw looks more a squad player. That said, if he stays fit I wouldn't be surprised if he stakes a claim for McLean's position.

Is that why I love bacon and Christina Mikkelsen?

Quite an 'issue' one would have thought. As I said elsewhere, the lessons of Hayden clearly not learned.

Being a scouser isn’t just about coming from Merseyside, in the same way as coming from London doesn’t make you a cockney.

I live on The Wirral which is in Merseyside but people from Liverpool call people from The Wirral ‘Woolybacks’.

I doubt that Kieran Dowell considers himself a scouser.

If Barnes can enhance the skills of Sargent and Idah and Duffy likewise for Omo then Forshaw could well bring more to us than hud actual minutes on the pitch. Players like Gibbs and Nunez can take advantage of his experience and look to add it to their game. It’s all well and good trying to coach this into someone’s game, but having someone show you first hand is better for them

My wife is a proper scouser (or was, not lived there for 30+ years). She calls The Wirral “over the water”, which makes me laugh, sounds like the US or at the best Ireland. Not somewhere you can get to on the bus in 20 minutes.

Having said that, Dowell sounds like a scouser.
