Looks like Alex Neil might be off to Stoke, which will unsettle there team with any luck. 2 - 1 Canaries.

Two tricky away games coming up and 4pts would be a decent haul.

Hedging my bets on 1-1 as not convinced by our away form yet.

Will be a tough match. We're looking good in spells and definitely are improving, but not produced a 90-minute performance yet. Away to a promoted side early on who have started quite well and have passionate support will definitely be a test that demands respect and full concentration.

If you offered me a draw, I'd take it. I think that's what'll happen too. 1-1.

Only 6th game, but already a must-win, surely😉🤣. Otherwise, it'll be unbearable on this forum and we'll never hear the end of how Neil would be so much better than Deano.

I'll go for an unchanged lineup from Millwall, and a slightly fortuitous 2-1 win to us (XG S'land 1.7 N'wich 1.2). Then I'll feel slightly better about the dropped points in the first 3 games, and our XG and real positions in the table will be getting similar.

I do it nearly every year. Thinking how many points we could have / should have had compared to what we actually have. Always think we should have had more, of course.

It feels very much like Hull. We'll have all of the play and more chances, but they are going to catch us with long balls and direct play. If we take our chances, as we have been doing in the last couple of league matches, we'll win comfortably.

As above, I think Kenny will need the support/protection of someone more robust than Dowell or Cantwell down the left side so Hernandez should start.

From whoscored.com on Sunderland's game against Stoke - them losing possession and giving away freekicks around the box sounds ideal for us with Nunez now integrated in the middle, and actually being able to execute at a dead ball situation (what a buy!)

Sunderland
Strengths

(Team has no significant strengths)

Were effective at creating goalscoring opportunities from through balls

SUN 1 - 3 NOR

Dare I suggest Pukki up top with Sargent in a two up top..?

I would love to see it but wouldn't mind seeing Idah and Pukki there as well.

Idah and Pukki looked very good together Tuesday as they did before Idah's injury in February. I feel that will ultimately be the strike force later in the season.

At the same time I hope Sargent's performance against Millwall was not a flash in the pan and that he can continue to improve. He must start this week but the competition for places is now hotting up everywhere (except left back!).

Not convinced? We’ve lost both games!

1-1

Sticking with the 4-3-3 I'd love to see Byram in for McLean but expect him to get the nod over Gibbs in midfield if Byram is deemed ready.

Pritchard is my concern.  I think it's got 1-1 written all over it.

But the I think about Sarge slowly catching fire and I could see us scoring 2 or 3 against them if we get our backs up.

As most games, midfield will decide this - Hopefully we'll have some steel in there.  Games like this are a prime example of why we need Hayden fit.

If the chances we have created in all the games this season actually go in.....could a rite tonking be on the cards. A little bit of luck and I think we will fly

Their fans will sing songs aimed at Alex Neil and him leaving them!

As for the score, who knows now as players will be in a state of shock so hopefully that will work in our favour

2-0 City hopefully, Pukki and Hanley to score

Predictions:

- If we win, a couple of posters will still be chuntering about Dean Smith.

- If we lose, several who had previously been anti, then pro, will flip flop again and say he should be sacked.

- Several posters will complain about Kenny McLean

- Dean Smith’s mug will get a couple of mentions

I see a tall, dark stranger…

Hang on, it’s Grant Hanley. He must be going to score.

Feels about right. Think a win tomorrow would be quite the statement, though.
