It would only really work if we got the Norfolk Cafu back from Walsall so we had a Rémy-Martin pair in central defence...

To me, the greatest ever footballer. Yes there was Best, Pele, Charlton. But to me, he was Mr Football. Best goalkeeper never to play for his country. Never heard of him wanting to leave. Treated us to some magic moments including laying out players who annoyed him. Smart dresser and liked a night out. Ladies loved him. In fact, i was probably jealous. Happy Birthday Kev. There will never be another and how there isn't a stand named after you is puzzling.

Jarvis isn’t the worst value for money signing either though, is he? He hasn’t been able to play because he’s been unlucky with injuries. RVW didn’t play because he was ****. We ended up paying him (and Naismith) to play for SOMEBODY ELSE!!! Jarvis wouldn’t make the squad of an all-time “worst” XI. Rossi might... Theoklitos Derveld Husband Walsh Murray Brellier Carey Jarrett Whaley De Waard Van Wolfswinkel Becchio Strihavka Maric Southall Brown Thorne Coney Sheron Bamford Hammond Koroma Cottee Stefanovic Gow Killen Eagle and there’s probably two dozen more before I’d pick him.

A bit late but 78 today. The word legend does not even cover it.

Good to hear, Ray. As I said in my previous post, it's really impressive the way we're tailoring loans to suit players rather than just going down the English loan route all the time. Really chuffed that Neil is still with the club and making a significant impact by the sounds of it!

Still here, working hard and doing a great job.

Sigh. I fear we've entered another thread where you deliberately miss the point.

I didn't mind Adrian Forbes, but I'm not sure he warranted enough to get a stand named in his honour! 😉

I was a snip at £300,000 and wore numbers 3,4,5,7,8,9,12 - who else could be as 'consistent' as I was in so many different positions!? You were probably still smarting about the loss of the majestic MP to Sheffield United! I could also deliver your daily pinta too! 😉

Good to see that chivalry is not dead; well done Thirsty!

Keelan played 673 games for us and nobody will ever come close to that so how that achievement has never been recognised in any way shape or form is a mystery to me.

I don't think there are more than one Shay Given and no idea why we'd name a stand after him anyway... Perhaps in honour of Safri's goal? 🤪

Didn't we once have a player called Custerslast?

Otherwise maybe go for legendary managers... Bowman first ever manager, Reid first to win a trophy, Walker most successful ever/first to lead us into Europe, and maybe leave a stand empty for Farke's name when he leads us to glory? 😛

The Matt Jarvis Treatment Room may be popular .. Although Gerry Howshall and MLJ would get votes....

I'd go for our all-time greatest players in each position - GK,DEF,MID,FWD I'd say Kevin Keelan, Ron Ashman, Jonny Gavin, Terry Allcock Holt, Wes, Hucks were all massive players and club legends for sure but I wouldnt put any of them on quite the same level of all-time greats.

I agree and stalwarts would be my choice - Keelan, Ashman, Forbes for sure.

I've tried to pick icons who, when you look at their whole career, are true club legends. My list can only go back to the mid-70s when I began watching the team, so I can't comment on players like Ron Davies etc. My shortlist would be: Keelan, Forbes, Huckerby, Gunn (he already has his 'Club' though). Secondary - Holt, Wes, Peters.

Ha ha - the good old English language. 🙂 resign - give up an office, one's employment etc.. re-sign - sign again.

How much did we pay for John O'Neill? 34 minutes on the pitch and that **** brain John Fashanu decides to cripple him.

When you think about it, it's probably only about 20 or so teams in English football that really have to put the FA Cup on the backburner. For the top half of the Championship and the botttom half of the Premier League then the revenue difference between being in the latter rather than the former is just too big to risk against anything. For a comfortable Premier League side that's not in a tight competition to win the Premier League then it's a chance for a bit of silverware though, and for anyone league 1 and below down it's a chance for some relatively big boosts in revenue. Maybe we're just unlucky as a club to exist in that 'awkward spot'.

The FA Cup has become a joke competition - summed up by the ridiculous kick-off times across the weekend. The only reason the ‘big six’ take it more seriously is because their squads can handle it more easily and, as only one of them can win the league title, a trophy will help to appease the fans. ( A trophy more easily winnable for them because the other fourteen PL teams and seemingly, the entire Championship teams, field heavily weakened teams.) This weekend is very much like the international breaks - an opportunity to take a break from football and do other things.....

I never want to lose and am not ‘happy’ that we did, but nor am I particularly bothered. Our focus has to be the league, a cup run might have been good but IMO it is far better to avoid the potential fixture congestion with almost inevitable injuries/suspensions. Even if sides we’re due to play are still involved, the break will help keep/get players fit.

The income gained from getting to the Premier League is exponentially greater than any cup run. With the majority of our squad having suffered injury at some point this season, any extra fixtures are likely to lose us more in player fitness than we gain in money or prestige. If we'd have won yesterday that would have been great, but I'd rather have lost the match than won it in a replay. Farke was clearly going for it at the end, he wanted a result one way or another and it could have gone either way.

If you are going to have an evening with him, surely it is just a short step to having evenings with Alan Brazil, Trevor Whymark and Mick Mills??
