Normally this time of the year I’m looking forward to the new season and excited at the prospect of new signings, renewed optimism, etc, etc…

But following our play off failure, then the thrills and spills of watching England at the Euros (which I loved), I feel completely burnt out with football and enjoying taking little interest in it currently.

Anyone else feel this way, or just me!?

Absolutely but once the seasons starts you will be right.

Have a break and watch the cricket, working for me.

Yes. Summer is for cricket. Football season starts way too early in my view. The idea that we're already playing friendlies - ugh. Football needs to take a day off.

Love going to Grace Road, under £20 for a Blast match and take a pint to your seat too. Gets quite loud when it’s packed out, I often wear a City shirt too that’s gets some ripping.

Ipswich being in the top flight makes it all the worse.

Tbh, I’m over that already.

The Euros were great and nice distraction from them going up and our play-off failure. But straight after the final against Spain, I was relieved it was over… despite the ecstasy of our knockout wins.. I felt exhausted with it all 😅

As with even last year, I find I can't put Norwich City down. During the bad run I'd swear off it for a few weeks on a Saturday evening, then by Thursday would be turning my attention to how Wagners advanced fullbacks could be perfect to undoing Millwall.

I have zero care for international football, which is a massive benefit in this type of summer. I find I'm even disappointed that the club haven't put out as much coverage of the tour as they did last year, but I can understand why they wouldn't want the distraction. Fully paid up member of the Abu Kamara streaming service.

On the other hand, I'm usually crazing for the kit but this year it came and it went. Maybe that's time talking. Maybe it's Johannes Hoff Thorups silky manner of speaking.

Will see I guess.

I've experienced what you had after we had Hughton as manager so I appreciate how you're feeling, but not for me.

I'm really looking forward to the season, and even looking forward to the friendly next Friday night and having a look at the new safe standing areas.  Going up with the family and making an evening of it is always nice.

For me, it's exciting to see a new manager coming in, with the hope that we're once again going to be playing attractive football.  Also, this season there's not 3 stand out obvious Top 3 (Even though Ipswich upset the apple cart last season) so I think it's going to be a very interesting league.

And that's without mentioning the joy of seeing players like Sara, Sainz, Sarge, Nunez etc.  All bring a smile to my face.  Work is far more fatiguing by a long margin!

I’ve never really paid much attention to it during the off season, never been interested in going to preseason games. I loved the Euros, I’ll watch the cricket and olympics then start looking in again.
I also still think the winter World Cup has something to do with it, between that messing up the seasons, along with the delayed 2020 euros and now this summers tournament it’s felt like we haven’t had a proper break in years. Thankfully after this season we’ll get a proper few months off

I understand where the OP is coming from. I'm finding it hard to get fired up for this season.

I got fired up about Mumba during his Young Player of the Season loan to Plymouth. Sold, because Wagner doesn't play wing-backs so we had no role for him here. I'd been excited about Tzolis since the Bournemouth game - it really looked like we might have found someone special. His fantastic loan spell at a level almost equivalent to the Championship was really exciting. Sold. And this time, to add insult to injury, we only got 50% of the money. The latest disappointment is looking like it might be another great loanee, Kamara, who has seemed flat so far, as if he is dreaming of going to Portsmouth.

I think I've learned not to get excited.

Yes, I know I should be excited about Sara, Sainz and Rowe, except at least one, and possibly two, of these will be sold before the season starts.

So it looks like I'm going to have to try to be excited about Duffy, Barnes and Springett. Somehow I can't manage that.

I know this season is a new beginning under new management and maybe that's a reason to be excited. But when we see that sign on a shop window, it's often because the old management were awful, everyone knows that, and the new owners are going to struggle to shake off the failures of the old.

Maybe when the season starts, I'll feel differently. But it's not easy to be honest.

Mrs Petriix is definitely feeling a bit of football fatigue. Weirdly she doesn't enjoy the cricket either. Personally I'm all up for the next turn of the roller coaster that is supporting Norwich City. I can't wait to get my teeth into our latest tactics and the balance of the squad...

I'm the same, I'm not really bothering with paying attention to the friendlies etc, going to immerse myself into the Olympics then get back into the footy on Aug 10th

I think its usually signings that get people excited, and we have the double whammy of it being an International tourno season where the transfer business always gets done later in the window, and essentially needing to flog somebody to bring people in.

I could get excited if we turned round and brought in a left back, centre mid, and told the fans that Abu Kamara is staying tomorrow, particularly if its Rowe that we flogged to fund it rather than Sara or Sargent (just because in Kamara we have a ready made replacement on that right side).

Losing 3-0 to Club Brugge hasn't done wonders for optimism levels though has it, lets be honest.

I just fear on the football front NCFC will take too long to bed in a new system and squad changes. We seem to be well behind the curve already. Could well be a pretty boring nothing season.

Luckily I don't go to the football just for the match so I usually find something about matchday to enjoy.

The Binners getting slaughtered every week will be quite amusing.

TBH I’m sure it’s made no difference whatsoever. Do you really think an early pre season game with not all the players available gives any indication at all for the season, in particular as it was against Bruges who will be far more match fit as their season starts on Friday

Yeah, me too at Hove. Saw Olly Robinson bowling at Joe Root for £20. I mean.

I’m with you, but it’s wider than football, sports fatigue. Sport is basically my main passion, but due to over exposure tv cashing in, it’s been devalued; in a word “capitalism”. The only solution for me is a personal one, less is more, so I will select and discriminate. Unfortunately this means ignoring events that could be messerising, such as England v All blacks.

Or Kamara, Aboh, Hills, Fisher, Montoia, Welch, etc.

I think that when there aren't many new signings, it does cause a lower level of excitement. When a club signs quite a few players, there's more of a buzz, an intrigue and excitement about seeing them in action.

We haven't been very active with incoming transfers, certainly a lot less active than we were all expecting, and as a result, new season fever hasn't really gripped me yet.

It's nice to feel like a kid playing with their new toys on Christmas morning.
