Samwam27 593 Posted May 17 Cuesta gets my vote followed by Robins, but not sure Robins is our best fit. Cuesta has worked with knapper so.fits thr bill
CDMullins 490 Posted May 17 (edited) 11 minutes ago, Google Bot said: He's only in consideration because of Knapper, no-one would even mention his name otherwise as he would be considered out of our league when you look at the hype around him at Arsenal. I'm not obsessing over him as would personally go with a more experienced manager, but the Knapper factor makes me think he should be what we go for and just roll the dice. Mainly as we will need someone able to get into players heads and build up from the youth. (That series is worth a watch if interested) As a manager, his ingame tactics and such like you're right, no one has a clue on how that pans out. But once again, Knapper will have far more inside knowledge there. That’s kind of my point, articulated poorly. Knapper has no credit in the bank at this point. He has no credibility, no previous. So to back Cuesta blindly based on Knappers relationship is a huge risk. And potentially another easy option, like Webber/Wagner Edited May 17 by CDMullins

Actually, I should imagine it it settled, and I assume it will be someone happy to work as a head coach under a sporting director, which rules out some of the suggested names. So to back Cuesta blindly based on Knappers relationship is a huge risk. Yeah it's a huge risk. Trouble is, we could bring someone like Robins or Rosenior in and it turns to **** after 6 months and we have another Smith on our hands, because of the expectation. As Webber done with bringing Farke in, this could be a clean sheet and we'd be less expectant of instant results and support the growth of younger players and a system that's good on the eye. For me, I think that's the correct approach at this point. There's a mentality issue that is still floating around this club and from what i've seen of Cuesta he's very good at speaking with players, raising confidence and can communicate in many different languages which is helpful when you look at our recent signings. There's a lot of boxes being ticked, but it is mad to think his name wouldn't even come up without Knapper being here.
Slim Pickings 7 Posted May 17 I’d like to see Danny Rohl given a chance - Southampton fans really rate him (he was assistant to Hussenhatl in the Prem), reckon they went downhill when he left to join Bayern Munich. I think he did a great job at Wednesday, utilising the players to a system best suited to what he had.. Still, Cuesta…obviously held in high regard, and who am I to doubt the Internet experts…but I’d like to see someone with Championship experience AND who’s career is on the up…

cambridgeshire canary 7,697 Posted May 17 ME! I shall be manager. I shall change the formation every match, and will hold a lottery an hour before kickoff to see who get's to play. That way it's fair to everyone. You can't go wrong. My tactics are perfect.

By Hook or Ian crook 943 Posted May 17 For the first time in what feels a long time there’s actually plenty of choice with managers I feel I’d be happy with. Cuesta, Rosenoir, Cooper, Potter, Robins would all excite me for what they could bring. Would be nice to get someone who could attract the quality of players we need to be targeting to get back in the prem.

PurpleCanary 6,276 Posted May 17 A bit out of the loop and don't have time to read everything. I see Buhler is going as well, but is Pelach, and if not is this a sign he might be in the running to be the new head coach? Or at least have a job under whoever it is? He seems well-regarded. yellowrider120 896 Posted May 17 I'd take Paul Heckingbottom. Looking for a new job, no compensation to pay and a very decent manager. Spoke very well last night and with no PL club likely to go for him, I think he might well take the job if offered.

Mason 47 1,855 Posted May 17 Anthony Barry sneaking under everyone's radar. Was linked during previous vacancies and by most accounts is very highly regarded. Currently Bayern assistant coach unless he's left with Tuchel (not at all up to date with it) If people want a Mckenna-like then that's probably just the ticket

We have to go through a full selection process. I'm a bit concerned Knapper appointing his mate without the benchmark of other candidates. This is not an easy job. Expectations will be high. I'm not saying Cuesta isn't the man for the job but he's going to have to work with a budget a tiny fraction of what Arsenal had. He also won't have Arteta's enthusiasm and drive to fall back on. HazzaJet 266 Posted May 17 (edited) We need someone who has an attacking style of play but also a good defensive Plan B in case we get promoted. In the past few seasons the number of posts I've seen on here from fans moaning about the manager having no Plan B when we've gone through poor spells under Farke/Smith/Wagner is ridiculous Edited May 17 by HazzaJet

Tommo 51 Posted May 17 Liam Manning - from Norwich, likes the Bristol city set up and attacking threat when they drew 1-1 with us. Think he could be a great choice. I asked sky bet to add him and he’s in at 12-
