Terminally Yellow 2,614 Posted July 31, 2023 Good news. I still think he should be the poster boy to show Norwich City have a clear pathway for youngsters to play first team football.

Don't get me wrong, I think he's good, but I find some of the comments about him hyperbolic. Easy to forget how young he is, though, and I have strong hopes he'll develop further. pete 372 Posted July 31, 2023 You talk sense, Gibbs looked good in a very poor team as a DM early on in Smith's team. Since the injury suffered at the time he has looked ordinary and not as dynamic. He does have the potential to be very good however in what position is yet to be discovered.

Capt. Pants 5,022 Posted July 31, 2023 5 year contract. Good news. Makes you wonder if there's been a bit of interest in him that we haven't heard about.

Creedence Clearwater Couto 1,635 Posted July 31, 2023 Good news. Similarly to Nunez, I’m not sure how he’s best utilised. But sure has talent and a player I want to watch.

No more than the others I expect. Clubs are constantly monitoring other players. I'm sure we had words with Fishers agent well back. If there is serious intent then Gibbs would not have signed a five year deal. What is noticeable is the difference is in having a CAT1 Academy. I am sure that having that and a proven track record of developing youngsters was the reason for a town fan, from a town family in binland joining us. This season could see him Omo, Rowe, Springett and possibly Fisher in the first team squad. Assuming Aarons leaves, as has Cantwell. It will be curious to see how many 'binlettes' are in the bin squad this year - given how few there were in L1.

He wouldn’t get in Town first eleven …… Honest assessment, not sour grapes , good luck to the lad .

Who from your academy is currently in your first eleven? Wolfenden is the only one I recall. You haver paid out for the rest, having bought your way out of L.1. RobJames 922 Posted July 31, 2023 eh ? I never said anything about Gibbs playing for the binners. I was merely pointing out how few players from their academy have progressed to the first team.... even in LI. I would reesrve judgement until we see the binfolk playing in the Championship. Gibbs already has, over 30 times.

A lot pundits seem to be tipping Ipswich to finish higher than us this season, so would Gibbs really walk into the Ipswich side? I didn't watch Ipswich play last season and don't know enough about their midfield options to comment.

Worthy Nigelton 1,306 Posted July 31, 2023 He doesn't get in our best eleven. It's not a stretch to say he wouldn't get in theirs either. He's still so young, so it means nothing. In a couple of years is when we'll see what he's about.
