Kamara to Pompey on loan

Recommended Posts

Not bad. Get him a loan where he has to fight to get in, and also get every chance to score goals for a team that should be on the front foot in many of their games.

Could this mean we are looking to bring in another striker?Ā  If we are gonna play 2 up top you would want 4 capable strikers... Sarge, Barnes, Idah +1 more to come in?

Seems fair enough - wasnā€™t quite sure he was ready when he came on last seasonĀ (possibly trying a bit too hard?) so a loan makes perfect sense.Ā

I thought it would have been League Two at best as he looked well raw when involved late last season.

Will be interesting to see how often he plays.

For the full seasonĀ

He will back here before Xmas and loaned out to someone like Maidenhead. Very surprised someone like Portsmouth would want him, still so raw.

Maybe. I sometimes think we miss the benefit of just being in a squad, competing with others to be involved rather than just in the background here. It's still a valuable experience for the lad, particularly at a club like Pompey.Ā

Scored 13 in 15 in the PL2 last season. I know that's a much lower level and different style of football, but the lad clearly knows where the goal is. Fingers crossed he gets some minutes early on in the season and stakes a claim!

I think Idah is good enough, butā€¦. With a 5 year contract our focus should be on his long term development, so I would let him go on loan, and then bring in 2 more players, but that is going to cost a lot more than just keeping Idah, fingers crossed we have the money to have our cake and eat it.

Should have been Idah.

Bit hard if, as I suspect, no sod wants him

Oh Good!

I stand more chance of watching a Norwich academy player than I could get to watch the real deal.Ā

i know he has not started many games etc and i think he has everything to make it as a striker but his long term development ?

Really has to start producing and that is scoring soon otherwise i can see him having to move to a lower league club .

i think once he gets a couple it might kick start his career he needs to be more nasty and confident ,

Reminds me of a Emile Heskey type and should be a lot more powerful and nasty to succeedĀ

Possibly, I think a season at league 1 is worth it if he scores 20 goals, he comes back bubbling, we have a proper asset. Ā  If plays bits and pieces of games it is unlikely he will make a significant improvement

Funny how a loan for Kamara is seen as an opportunity, yet for Idah I sense it's seen as a punishment and an opportunity to get rid of him.

I see the loan for Kamara to get some first team minutes and develop, for Idah I would want the same first team minutes, and some goals but also he has been at Norwich a long time and a different environment would be good for him I feel, I don't feel there is enough pressure on him especially now he has a 5 year contract.

Perhaps it's because Kamara will probably see it as an opportunity. Personally I'm very positive about this. I know he looked out of his depth in his brief cameo appearances last season but he gave the impression he was simply trying too hard. The little bits I've seen of him in the under-21s suggest he has a good chance of making it and I think/hope he'll have a successful loan out.

Exactly. Although some on here want Idah sent on loan to get rid of him. Such a strange attitude to one of young hopefuls.

I don't want to get rid of Idah but I do think he needs to go out on loan. If he stays, I fear either he won't get much game time except for the last ten/fifteen minutes (as has happened for most of the past three years) or he'll be used because Sargent or Barnes is injured and fans will get on his back if he doesn't immediately do well in that circumstance. A loan out to the right club should take a lot of pressure off him and give him game time and the chance to develop.

Interesting that Kamara gets loaned to Pompey, then a rumour has it that their CEO (Cullen, ex-Marketing head here)Ā is returning to Norwich in a CEO / SD role? Was he here just to oversee the loan? 2+2 =5?

Trouble is there are no funds to bring in another striker (well two really one to replace Kamara)Ā to replace Idah. It would be suicidal to go with just Barnes and Sargent.

As a club I don't quite get what we are trying to do with our young players and you can include Tzolis, Rowe, Springett and Tomkinson in that.

I hope Wagner starts to build around Sargent as we need a prolific striker to replace Pukki as imo I don't see many goals in the rest of the squad.

So, we are left with just 3 strikers in our first team squad now? And none of them have ever been prolific, so unless we do bring another one in where will the goals come from?
