How worried should we be of Birmingham?

Recommended Posts

Karanka Outfit, gunna be hard to breakdown. Hogan up front, so a goalscorer in the ranks

But we are at home, and should be looking at teams similar to Birmingham and be confident of three points.

2 good away draws (conceding 1 goal) shows how they may well set up, but it would be good to put them, and Wycombe to the sword with thumping victories. Just imagine what two huge wins would do to some of the posters on here

I'm sure they'll be organised and good defensively. Tight game, which as you can see all their previous games have been.

Admittedly getting 9 points from a possible 9 after we should beat Wycombe from our last 3 at that points will be pretty stupendous

I have seen nothing this season to say we should be going into any game with confidence that we will win it

i would take a draw now

Why do people keep saying we are at home? They is no advantage with no fans look at last weekend just in the premier league and championship just (2) home wins

Indeed, and given our home form prior to our last second win against Rotherham was utterly awful..

We’ve certainly got to find a way of making home advantage count.

I did wonder what’s happened to all the banners that were there for the last PL games?

Strange how football fans differ when it comes to their own team. We live in Birmingham and 1/2 our family are Birmingham supporters. They expect to lose tonight as they are playing ‘ one of the best or the best teams in the league ‘, Yet as fans of our own team we don’t see it that way. They fear Pukki and Cantwell ripping them to shreds, some of our fans don’t even think they should be playing.

They probably haven't been watching us recently.

I think we should be comfortably winning this one but we have struggled to break down teams that sit back and defend well.

Whilst having no crowd behind them is a massive contributor to home advantage, there are other factors.

The City players are playing on familiar territory and I should think that Pukki knows every blade of grass of the Carrow Road pitch.

A familiar spot in the changing room.

No mid-week travelling over a long distance (and perhaps an overnight stay) for our boys either. Instead they have an early night with their families and have a leisurely trip to the ground for a soft warm up followed by a light lunch in the morning.

Gladys's tea and biscuits (of choice) an hour before the game.

An opportunity to bow in front of Queen Delia.

There remain some advantages.

Tell us what home advantage is when there are no fans?

Birmingham will press high and hard and get men behind the ball as well.

They will look to nick it by a goal and hang on, just like everyone else.

Do not under estimate our quality and the way other teams set up to try and stop us.

I'm actually expecting goals tonight. Cannot say why really and I am used to embarrassment in wrong predictions. But, maybe we will see us score some goals and that will make a big welcome change over the last few months of rationing.

No worries about Birmingham or any team come to that, we can win every game, but it's not going to be easy. No game in this league is going to be easy. In fact if we were to play well and lose, it would not be a shock, because Birmingham - and every team in the league - can put up a good show on their day. We will need to be at our battling best to combat them and if we do that, with a bit of luck/quality in front of goal, we will beat them, or at least draw.

They are going to keep it tight and they are going to press us (if you listen to what Friend says in his interview) so Farke should have us prepared for that I would hope.

You know what you're going to get with a Karanka team. Get that first goal early, though, and we should be able to dominate the match (as at Wembley in 2015). If we're not decisive with the chances we create, though, it could be another game like the Derby game (and Wigan/Middlesbrough at home in 2015).

Most teams have worked out how to play us now; press high and hard and wait for the inevitable error. A low scoring game looks on the cards, but on paper one we must be looking to win if we want promotion.

We might need to mix tactics up a bit between nifty stuff through the middle and lumping the crosses over to Hugill.

Should be interesting but plenty of opportunity for matchday thread action in between moments of boredom!

Unlike our defence, who seem to run around as if they've just been dropped in from the Planet Zog.

I’d be very worried listening to that accent in public houses pre match. One minor plus point of no fans being allowed in stadiums at present.

Plus I’d be worried about those Tier 2 Brummies bringing their germs into our sweet Norfolk air 😉
