chicken 0 Posted May 7, 2007

I have not posted for ages, BUT I have been told by someone that I trust a lot and who has connections with the club that we are close to announcing a major investor. The investor is into land/property. It is not a take over of the club but (they) will be wanting a say in the running of the club. Delia is safe. The investment is in veiw of team strenghtening. The Club wants this sorted soon as possible to enable Grant to have possible chance in the transfer market.
I''ll beleive it when it happens Bono. Until then I remain highly sceptical.
Utter bilge! Why would anyone want to invest money into the club and leave this board and Delia in place?? They obviously weren''t brought up in Bobsville lalaland!
I am not saying that this rumour is true but what you suggest is a little OTT.If you were running your own company you would not wish to buy another outright so that you were to take on the running of two buisinesses. Few chairmen are really capable of it and obviously this guy believes and trusts in the people already at the club. For example Abramovich no longer owns the oil companies that made him him billions - he sold them off to get even more billions hence the multi-billionareness about him.It really is a very nearly full time job these days, and this guy probably sees it as a good investment of his money because at least he can have a say in how it is spent unlike investment schemes etc.
blahblahblah 2 Posted May 7, 2007 Thanks for coming on and giving us advance notice Herbert. Any good news has to be welcomed after a pretty awful season. People are bound to be sceptical of anything unofficial until it happens, I hope it happens as soon as possible, the sooner Grant gets the money to work with, the better shape the squad will be in come August. bailojnr 0 Posted May 7, 2007 You post whatever you want Herbert! However, you can''t blame people for being cynical and suspecting your a binner. I''ll believe it when it happens.

......and Smith must score. 1,516 Posted May 7, 2007
what exactly does 39 posts says it all mean?... I hope what you mean is that I only bother posting on here when I have something interesting to say, or relevant information to share - rather than this a lot of this mindless negative backstabbing dribble that has polluted this chatroom this season??once again please listen - this is going to happen this week and it is very good news for the club - rejoice in the good news rather than screwing yourself up into your ball of desperation and bitterness...do not be scared by people who do not spend as much time posting on here as you...
I think you might just be right on this one, Herbert........Roger Munby''s statement, released last week, asked us to " watch this space " . Despite spoiling it all later with the usual '' togetherness '' spin - more than a little stale now I think - I have a hunch that there could indeed be some badly needed investment just around the corner.I don''t '' know someone who knows someone ''..........I just have this feeling. a1canary 0 Posted May 8, 2007 I think a lot of people on here are being unreasonably rude to Herbert on this. His sources sounds ok, he''s not in to posting nonsense rumours normally, he has some back up from another poster and he has no motivation to post this other than to inform fellow fans... Lets at least give him a chance rather than lay in to him!
Bigmarkcanary 0 Posted May 8, 2007 If it is 100% true Herbert, then why hasn''t this thread been deleted by now? [*-)]If your information definitely turns out to be accurate though, then I salute you sir [:D]

canary cherub 1 Posted May 8, 2007
Seems to me that we are free to believe or disbelieve Herbert''s story. Time will tell in any event. What I don''t understand is the aggression and rudeness with which some of you have responded. Why is it not enough to say "Good if true but doesn''t seem likely to me"? In fact, why even say that: if you disagree then move on. Every time some posts a rumour, it is met with patronising and sometimes abusive aggression. The arrogance of some of you that believe you are always right and no one else can know something you don''t is astounding. The sheer nastiness of some of the responses here is unnecessary. Herbert will in a view days be either right or a fool. If he is right, then those of you shouting him down will have become fools. Entirely of your own making. A self made fool is a real pity.
Cambridge, I agree that the tone of some responses leaves a lot to be desired. But posting stuff like this tends to raise false hopes. Haven''t we had enough disappointment already? There have been so many false rumours put about by people wishing to appear to be "in the know" and personally I can''t see the point. Wait until it happens (or not). As for "if you disagree move on", this board would shut down in five minutes if that happened.
Evil Monkey 52 Posted May 8, 2007 Would love to see it happen, but won''t hold my breath! Some of the vitriol is a little OTT, but we''ve had false hopes raised by muppets with rumours before... once bitten and all that!

percyvarco 0 Posted May 8, 2007
I pray that its true, as long as it isn''t Chase!
But without Chase this board would not have had any land to sell. Yes we have eventually done reasonably well out of it (not that the moneys been spent on the team.....) but was it worth missing out on the Prem. millions for?
