Such a shame for Dimi, who I thought had an excellent game. But he was visibly tiring at the end, as was Stacey. This system asks a lot of our full backs.

8 mins of injury time is going to ask a lot of all players when combined with 6 or so in the first half.

Not really sure how to react to that. A point is obviously a great result for us, but did feel they were there for the taking. But equally they looked like taking us apart a few times in the second half. Lots to be encouraged by, lots to work on. The refereeing is a distraction from that, imho.

We got one penalty last season. Saints get 2 in 1 game. Referee was duped into that penalty. Softest we'll see this season

Great result but it doesn't reflect what happened. Referees were instructed to take into account that contact isn't always a foul. And this bloke didn't get the email.

Most would probably take a point from this game, but can´t help feel robbed by the refs. One good goal disallowed and one very soft penalty against...

Well done City. Good game, and definitely should have won it. Two soft penalties against and a goal ruled out incorrectly, the ref stole 2 points from us. We'll get dodgy decisions in our favour too in future matches that will no doubt win us points, but it is still frustating.

Great game, Southampton needed two penalties that were dodgey as hell to get the job done, ref willing to give them because Southampton were in the prem last year and he’s heard of them (he’s been demoted with them btw)

main thing, we’ve got our heart back. Very happy!

It's going to be entertaining isn't it. And there are 22 other championship teams who have to visit St Mary's most of whom will lose.

Positive start.

SAD but now Ipswich are now on top of us on points

They still riding that wave from last season - lets see what happens when they lose a couple

Perfectly good goal wrongly called offside.

The weakest penalty decision you'll ever see at this level - if that was a penalty then Sargent should have had 40 on his own last season.

To note, Southampton just got double the amount of penalties today than we got in the entirety of last season.

AND WE'RE SUPPOSED TO BELEIVE THESE DECISIONS 'EVEN THEMSELVES OUT'

It’s going to be like this with the refs all season by the way. They’ve been given a blank cheque to act like kn0bheads.

Don't know why everyone is mad about the penalty. If one of our players got elbowed in the back and fell over we would be screaming for one

Because he stepped across Dimi so as to deliberately win a penalty perhaps.

If we were playing a team that weren't a fashionable relegated club, those decisions wouldn't have been given - I fully believe that and I will die on that hill.

They have their quota of teams to "favour" and sot'on will be one of those for the last 11 years in the PL

Great result which will probably go down as one of our hardest games this season away to strongly fancied opponents.

Well done Wagner getting some fight back in this team!

FFS.

Because he stepped across Dimi and was already half way down when Dimi tapped him with his arm... Refs are supposed to give fouls on "contact with consequence"  not a player going down while looking for contact.
