Age catching up with him. Has lost a yard of pace and hasn't looked sharp in a long time. Needs replacing. Poor result today. Promotion looking highly unlikely but that's no bad thing. Last thing this club needs is another humiliating season as Premier league whipping boys. Save that until our owners are also replaced.

All the best. Big Keith Scott.

If you think Pukki is the problem then you really don't understand football. The issues are all in the midfield and the insistence on playing with wingers and no number 10. It's a shambles. Pukki created our goal and remains our main attacking threat.

Dean Smith's inability to figure out how to play to Pukki's strengths after 9 months in charge is the biggest failure.

I don’t think it’s age. I don’t know what it is, confidence, frustration, jaded, lack of focus or something else or a combination who knows. He doesn’t look in his prime, but after last season are you surprised?

He made some poor decisions/mistakes today, but saying that if that shot had been 1 inch lower you wouldn’t be saying this.

Thought Pukki was far more involved than vs Cardiff and had a few half chances he will be a bit disappointed about.

The club posted a video on Twitter of him scoring an Alessia Russo-style backheel in training. He didn't react with any kind of pleasure or enjoyment, just turned his back and reset for the next play. He looked really miserable. As you can say, who can blame him.

Trouble is that the whole discussion about attacking threat is about service to Pukki instead of a wider range of players scoring; we need more players actually getting it in the net, because even if this thread is total rubbish, the day that it's valid is the day we're properly scr3wed.

We have hung onto him against his will and I suspect that's going to come through in his performance.

Has someone come in for him ?   We're only holding him against his will if we are turning down bids after all.  I think after all the internationals over the summer and no real break as well as a bit of a truncated pre-season he just looks a bit off match fitness and off the pace slightly.  An improvement on last week though.  He'll come good and was just a fingertip away from scoring today.

Imo Pukki is off the pace - one gifted goal in preseason and has not started the real stuff well.  The argument about service is total bunkum, he had ample opportunity at Cardiff and today, but barely got a shot off in either. It’s been a poor start from him.

Incidentally , I totally hate this ‘goat’ thing - I’d have Grant Holt in my side 10 times out of 10 ahead of him, he’s not even in my top 3 strikers.

We have no idea what goes on behind closed doors. His agent made it clear that he wanted away, but the club was refusing to entertain a sale.

Entirely accepted.  But nobody as far as I am aware has tested that as yet ?  Why would the club say that we were open to a sale if we don't want him to go ?  If nothing else it drops the price.  If someone comes in with a decent offer then the agent would be correct and I could understand Pukki's position given the stage he is at in his career.  But until that happens we are hardly holding him hostage.

Maybe it boils down to he's just not happy and enjoying his football here anymore, let's not forget the allegations of wanting out at the start of the summer. 🤷

Pukki has always missed too many chances per game and now he is slower on his feet he will miss even more.

Good job our new striker Max Aarons managed to save a point for us.

I fear this may be true. I hope he might strike up an understanding with Núñez and regain some of his old zip.

What's that got to do with the price of fish?

He's probably not in good form, no, but he's just endured another rancid year in the Prem feeding off scraps and still somehow managing double figures once again. Pukki is still by far the best we've got, and it may take him a little time to find some form, it'll come though.

I thought he was very unlucky with the shot that hit the underside of the bar. Those kinds of shots can often bounce over the line or ricochet against the goalie and go in. Also, from what I remember (although I need to see it again), he did an excellent job of adjusting his body to get any kind of decent shot in. It wasn't an easy ball.

There were mutterings amongst the crowd today that it looks as though he's just off the pace. The Wigan defender he was up against was pretty rapid though.

He's certainly not 'finished' like someone mentioned last week who was rightly called out for it. Needs his Mojo back asap as we don't really have another option.

Yes, let's sell the player who has scored almost 30 goals twice before in this season. Genius thinking small kenith

In full agreement with the original, poster - ALMOST 30 goals twice before is history. Pukki is 32 and finished. He is slow, can’t score, and is now a yard short of pace. It’s what happens in the now that is important, not historically. If Smith thinks Pukki will fire NCFC to championship glory, he needs to move on and take Pukki with him
