Team for 'pool

Recommended Posts

From today's presser: No Rowe (broken bone in hand), no Sarge (rested for Coventry).

So, one up top, will it be Barnes or Idah? The midfield are going to be over worked any way, but Sara to be the no.10 again with either Barnes or Idah up top?

Stick Duffy up front and we'll just catapult balls up field and hope one sticks.

I was looking forward to this game till reading this, in truth, as much as Gaby probably wants to play we'd be better off just resting him too as I can't see this being a moral boosting performance now, and why drill him into the ground.

Never any doubt in my mind it would be our cup specialist Long in goal anyway.

I'm not sure if we need someone 'on top', wherever that might be. But if Wagner sticks with the no marking policy at Anfield, we will be mullered. PL players can shoot from 20 yards so the idea that you allow them to take the ball to almost the 18 yard box before making a challenge is as near to suicide as you can get in a football match.

Save Idah and Barnes...................from embarrassing both them, and us. Play Onel up front on his own and look for long passes for Onel to run onto. He should be the only player in venturing into their half. Play Gibbs, as he is thought to be a striker.

One positive note is the talk of the importance of the Coventry game. The club has not given up on the play offs, as opposed to the phone waving defeatists and closet binners. Take the money and run, must be the thought.  The luck of the draw has thrown up a good money spinner and a day out for the happy clappy types who value the experience, than ever they do anything that happens on the pitch. I wouldn't mind a quid for every photo taken by the City contingent in front of parts of Anfield.

Lets hope there are no further injuries and the club uses this windfall along with money saved on Hwang and Forshaw to bring in another striker. It has taken today's announcement of no Rowe&Sargeant to bring home how short of cover we are. That is the ONE major area that could cost us a play off place

Don't usually agree with you but in this instance you are (IMO) 100% spot on. To not replace Hwang (irrespective of the broken hand of J Rowe and the 'nursing back' of USA) would be folly in the extreme but I fear that is precisely what will happen.

And thrn Sarg will get injured and we're left with Idah and Barnes.

Will be abject planning if we finish in this state and dont replace Hwang

Can't a broken bone take up to 6 weeks to heal? Really can't see how we can allow Placheta to leave now. So Springett on loan, Rowe injured yet again and Placheta tipped to leave, that leaves Sainz, Fassnacht and Onel as the only available wide players potentially for Coventry if not longer. Unless of course we revert back to Sargent or Idah out wide!

There's also the option of playing both Giannoulis and McCallum.

Think we're going to have to bring a winger either permanently or on loan.

Sargent looks really unfit and is a muscle strain waiting to happen.

The Southampton home game was the perfect drill for a game like this

                     Long

Stacey Duffy Hanley Gibson Giannoulis

            Nunez  Sara   McLean

                         Barnes

                         Idah

Bit of noise around Aboh atm, wouldn’t be surprised to see him on the bench Sunday if Idah starts.

Aboh scores goals. He will be full of confidence so why not take him along. We are only going to find out if the youth are good enough by getting them involved

Wouldn't rule out 4-6-0

Is that a score or a formation?

The FA cup has become a bit of reserves cup so just hoping pool will put out reserves as well although they will still beat us 5-1 is my prediction

Is anyone going up there tomorrow happy that we're voluntarily not playing our main striker ( even moreso after Rowe's injury) and our no.1 keeper??

...I did however hear last night that the 5th round draw is before the game tomorrow, we are at least in the hat for the last 16 !!!

It’s kind-of tough luck.  We were never going to play our first XI in a cup game. Sargent is not fully fit, to play him would be pure folly.

You really must stop being so sensible! Surely you realise that the boy has never played for the first team so has no experience. Also, he could be 'mentally scarred' if he played and rhe team were thrashed.
