To be fair I think the reason we never saw him in the first team here was mainly down to the fact he wasn't signing a contract. Maybe he was demanding more than we thought he was worth but it makes sense that we weren't going to push a player who could be leaving for free so soon. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
shefcanary 2,409 Posted January 4 Matos has to be careful he doesn't go the way of Alex Kiwomya, my daughters pal, who signed for Chelsea youth at 14, was in their youth team that lost to us in the FA Youth Cup final, appeared on the bench for their first team a few times at 18 and represented England from U16 through U19, but then went out on loan to the likes of Barnsley, Fleetwood, Crewe before signing for Doncaster, then Chesterfield, Kings Lynn and now plies his trade at Stalybridge Celtic and is only 27. Why wouldn't we be looking for a striker. We can never have too many and the ones that we have (Sargent possibly excepted) are currently not up to the job. I get the sense that we will be very quiet in this window other than bosmans or younger players for the U23’s from lower leagues who have potential. Would like to see us do something for the first team but get the sense we need all the out of contract players off the books to thin out the wage bill.
