You would have thought we'd be unchanged, subject to injuries (Giannoulis), but there's also the possibility Knapper could be feeding some more instructions and clarity to Wagner's thought process! It wasn't a great performance against Bristol City - we need to get out of our own half more, especially at home.

I would try Nunez on the right tucked in slightly sort of a rcm. Stacey bombing pass him. Nunez has too much talent not be a starter in this team.

Sort of keep Rowe wide on the left. Then Sara, McLean and Nunez as a midfield three with Nunez the farthest right but not playing as a winger. Stacey bombs past him but then Nunez is there in the inside right channel to whip balls in.

Glenn Roeder did something similar when he first arrived which worked well if I am remembering right he left Hucks on the left then basically played 3 centre midfield players knowing the width would come from Huckerby. If Huckeby was caught up field we were just a bit more solid. 

I dunno just feel we need to get him in the team and it’s something we haven’t tried yet is playing him out wide yet.

We control possession better generally with Nunez in the team. But I don't know enough about Preston to judge how important that is to be fair.

Sara and nunez gives us no protection whatsoever. And surely Idah has to start up top ahead of Gibbs

That's about the best I could come up with. I'd be tempted to put Rowe up front and Fassnacht on the right but Wagner's not ever going to do that (nor is Sara playing at 10, even though it seems like an obvious thing to try). 

What I found though was we don't have a decent defensive midfielder in the squad. I want to keep McLean at centre back and pair Nunez with an enforcer type in the middle, but that's not possible.

Yep the latter is still a glaring omission. So much so I’ve even mulled whether Ben Gibson could do a job there for now. He’s a decent passer of the ball and can clearly tackle, but he lacks pace and poise nowadays and that could be less consequential if he sat as a CDM.

A lot of people saying start Idah, the issue there is he's always beyond hopeless when he starts but morphs into Harry Kane off the bench.
