stewfil 12 Posted June 7, 2023 Scottish football gossip: New Celtic manager - Kieran McKenna, Enzo Maresca, Steve Clarke, Kjetil Knutsen, Jesse Marsch
Old Shuck 291 Posted June 7, 2023 McKenna unlikely--but, as we did with Lambert, Ipswich will now have to get used to his name being included whenever there is a managerial vacancy at a big club.
TheBaldOne66 768 Posted June 7, 2023 It would be hilarious if he jumped ship and went to Celtic though wouldn’t it?
cambridgeshire canary 7,799 Posted June 7, 2023 Also heard Leicester are after McKenna too. Please oh please leave the binners.. Would be hilarious
Grando 336 Posted June 7, 2023 Then the Binners might go for Farke. Careful what you wish for!

Would be hilarious Is he really that proven yet? The binners froth at the mouth with excitement when talking about him, and he seems to be justifying this, However this has been against League One opposition and with the highest budget in that league to play with. If they do well next season, god forbid, then he'll be ripe for plucking and will surely be tempted by lusher pastures and a big wedge. ITFC has a lower ceiling than us in this respect. It's Character Forming 1,204 Posted June 7, 2023 If you were a Celtic or a Leicester fan then hiring the 1p5wich manager would be extremely underwhelming.

Tend to agree. The quality of that division was horrific as could be seen from the standard of the playoffs. The scum have momentum which may help their start but I am far from convinced they are going to romp the league in the manner they seem to expect. Ultimately they have a team of good league 1 players.

Michael Starr 571 Posted June 7, 2023 Remember when we all feared Celtic would steal Paul Lambert from us. Now he can't even get on the shortlist and he's available for free

City 101 85 Posted June 8, 2023 Well I don't think we need to worry about anybody wanting to poach Wagner , I would swap him for McKenna in a heartbeat.

By the same point in their careers Wagner had achieved much more and then the following season kept Huddersfield in the PL. McKenna finished second in L1 last season with the biggest budget in the league. I get why Ipswich fans love him but I can't help but think people, particularly on here are seriously overrating him and his achievements. I'm not enamored with Wagner but I wouldn't swap him for McKenna. Steven Schumacher did a much more impressive job in that league last season and for some reason I don't see him being paraded as the next big thing like McKenna is despite doing better with a much smaller club on a much smaller budget. 1
Coneys Knee 1,050 Posted June 8, 2023 No chance Farke would go to them. He’s a man of principals. I could however see him at Celtic.

I think McKenna will be the only name any senior club will be enquiring about. They usually have some boy wonder, they drool over, but never seems to ever hit the heights they expect of him. Mind you, they did have a youngster called Gibbs. I wonder what happened to him ? Probably flogged off to some bigger club for a decent fee
Branston Pickle 4,150 Posted June 10, 2023 Celtic is a tricky one for anyone coming in, where can you go following the treble? Rangers feel more likely to challenge this season. The level being somewhere between top-Champs and low PL might suit DF.
