Midlands Yellow 4,682 Posted May 24, 2022 So many to choose from but the surrender at Stamford Bridge takes some beating. Special mention to the two 5.0 home thrashings from north London’s finest as well.
Pyro Pete 2,353 Posted May 25, 2022 I can take getting soundly beaten by top six teams who have spent £50m-£100m on individual players. It's losing at home to the likes of Watford and Leeds that really hurt. In those games we looked clueless having gone behind. Abandoning all our football principles, resorting to lumping the ball aimlessly forward. Completely dispiriting.
KernowCanary 214 Posted May 25, 2022 That’s been the story of our season; as soon as we went behind that belief went down the drain and we just crumbled from there on in. It was only the Southampton game we went behind and won, but that was just a one off. Chelsea away was the worse for me. As soon as that result came in, I knew it was no way back for us at all. We couldn’t even compete and give the big guns a sort of fight, we just fell apart. The majority who stay up, give those teams a good game, we did none of that. I could say the 5-0 loss to Spurs on the final day was the worse, simply because it was one of those games that summarised our season.

cambridgeshire canary 7,797 Posted May 25, 2022 End of the day losing to the big teams doesn't annoy me too much as you go into it expecting it. But losing to Watford? Losing to Brentford who finished above and beat last season? Now that hurts.

You seem to have missed the revisionist missive about how fantastic/infallible he was and how wrong we were to get shot…of course, he wasn’t helped by poor transfers, but those two games sum It up perfectly. AJ 1,358 Posted May 25, 2022 Watford at home certainly felt like it, I think we all knew that once Watford's third went in it was very, very likely we were not going to stay up again this season.

king canary 8,754 Posted May 25, 2022 I think the Watford at home one was the most dispiriting. The idea that 'the season starts now' and we totally no showed just set the tone in a terrible way.

Yeah, lumping the ball forward against Watford and Leeds, but persevering with suicidal passing around at the back against Man City and Chelsea. Totally crazy. Google Bot 3,929 Posted May 25, 2022 (edited) Not the worst as such, but the Arsenal 1-0 loss at start of the season was where I lost alot of belief in us. They were in the gutter, and we totally failed to turn up and attempt to rock the boat further to our advantage. They basically beat us through showing more drive and determination, as the shots stat showed. And it wasn't like being out-skilled as we were against Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City etc. We just failed to do anything against a side that was low on confidence and woeful in front of goal. S*** goal to concede too which kinda summed up the match as a whole, really. Edited May 25, 2022 by Google Bot

overthebordercanary 160 Posted May 25, 2022 Losing 4-0 at home to Brentford. Showing how with only a few targeted singings, rather then spending loads on **** that you can do well in the premiership. Also galling as they were miles behind us when they came up with us from the championship.

Canary Wundaboy 1,423 Posted May 25, 2022 This season I saw us play Watford, Wolves and Man City, all at home. One solitary goal and 1 solitary point, but the Watford one was just soul destroying. Wolves I was just annoyed, they were there for the taking and we still wouldn’t have scored had we played for a week.
duke63 739 Posted May 26, 2022 Chelsea away. The most bizarre set up of the team against a team of millionaires who can ( and did) score at will. We played full backs on the half way line and Chelsea exploited that to the full. Not once did Farke try and change it.
Danke bitte 1,154 Posted May 26, 2022 Have to say the Replica Kit display in the NCFC Fan Hub window is pretty sparse and terrible. They need a visual merchandiser in there quick and a window cleaner to manage the cobwebs amongst the Fan Hub lettering on the outside.

'Twas very early in the season to get 'that sinking feeling.' There's quite a few painful ones to choose from, and the Chelsea annihilation has to be up there, but that Watford defeat signposted the season. After that result, it felt like a defeat was on the cards pretty much every week, regardless of the opposition, which drains the soul. I'm not sure I can remember a season where I expected a negative result so often. As much as it grates (free hits etc...), you could kind of accept the opening Liverpool & Man City thumpings given the Covid/pre-season context. Leicester & Arsenal were both struggling at that stage and we still couldn't muster even a point or a clean sheet. And then shipping 3 at home to Watford in a truly disheartening performance/result. What a poxy season. 21/22 can get Uwe Fuched right off!
Duncan Edwards 2,424 Posted May 26, 2022 I’d be surprised if we played worse than we did in the first half against Southampton at home. I know we won the game but that was one horrific 45 minutes of football. Thank God their keeper chucked in two howlers. Watford and Brentford at home were bitterly disappointing. 😔
