I didn't raise it then but I believe that events that have impacted on me in the last 5 years plus the content of the Crouch Report means that it is appropriate to raise it now.

It is always about you, isn't it?  Always.

Time to move on.

Zoe joins the Board?  Confirmation that this Club is run as a pathetic amateur conglomeration of no ambition. Truly amateur hour.

but I remain concerned at the apparent handing over of all facets of the club to two people who are married with no apparent checks and balances.

Apart from the other 5 directors?

So Webber turned down a northern based prem club… unless it’s Burnley who are coming down with us, what is he thinking?!

Wouldn't be surprised if it was Everton. They sacked Marcel Brands in December, appointed Kevin Thelwell at the end of February.

Yes, but it was the icebergs fault.

No it wasn't. The crew was sailing at full speed knowing full well there were ice packs in the North Atlantic at that time.

Lollards Pit is just along Riverside Road.

I thought the ducking stool was on Fye Bridge? Are their two?

Lollard's pit is where the Lollards (a heretic group) were burnt at the stake.

If you at all see value in delayed gratification or the 'infinite game', then you would probably see this as a medium-to-slightly-positive development.

Yes.

This is utter nonsense. Power ultimately rests with the Socialists as majority shareholders. The rest are puppets on the end of a string.

Its not unusual in the football world for players to be away from their families for days/weeks at a time.

Until we had kids, I used to work in London whilst my wife was in Norwich and just see her at weekends. She said she was very happy with the arrangement.🤔

Firstly. Good to see another female representative on the board of a professional football club, however, conflict of interest much with Webber? Is she now Webbers boss both at work and at home?

No, she shouldn't be negatively impacted in her career trajectory because an employee of the club happens to be her partner. And the owners clearly trust her in decision making (why wouldn't they, the club has improved in pretty much every facet of her involvement since she arrived)

Except where it really matters!

Well aware of what went on at Lollards Pit .Merely pointing out that just a few hundred yards away in Riverside Road from where the suggestion of a ducking stool be installed another medieval practice took place.

Far from it. The matter does impact my terms and conditions but my motivation was endeavouring to help a much younger supporter in a tragic situation to which I believe that any truly independent Directors of a Community Football Club should have gone out of their way to demonstrate that they had considered the matter in the most sympathetic way possible yet didn't do so presumably because of their over cosy relationship with other board members.

Interestingly there is no mention in the article of who Miz Ward is married too. It's almost like the local media are trying to keep it quiet. Lies by omission.

Perhaps another interesting point about the list is the absence of Greg Pillinger who is currently listed on the website as part of the Senior Team and appears to be the most customer facing member yet doesn't feature in this announcement.

Another example of how supporter engagement is relegated in importance in favour of creeping commercialism at all costs.

If you mean on the pitch, she came in when the team finished 7th in the Championship, with a squad with a large wage budget featuring Naismith, Dorrans, Whittaker etc.

If you really don't think we've improved on the pitch overall since then - fair enough - but you can be quite demonstrably proven wrong.

The least you could do is read the article if you're going to try and make things up. Absolute cringe 😅😅😅

It certainly helps dilute the effect of irritating habits, although I don't have any of course!

So given that there were only 5 directors before, there were up to three vacancies.  Without specific reference in the articles over appointments, the directors are free to decide appointments themselves.  So ostensibly they have decided in a meeting that the appointment of Ward met general company law, which would be difficult to challenge in the absence of more detailed provisions within the articles.  All she has to do is acquire a minimum of 100 shares in the company - as we have found out in other threads on this latter subject it is not always transparent how directors obtain such shares!

Also the resignation and reappointment of director's at AGM's is not actually required as the running of AGM's is not mentioned in the Articles either!  And as I have mentioned on here before, the lack of a designated Chair of the Board is extremely worrying from a transparency perspective.

So in answer to the question raised, in reality the members have no say in the appointment of directors.  Although it is good governance for members to agree to resignation & reappointment of directors, the articles are actually silent on this matter, so there really is no reason for it to happen either.

Once again, the more I dig on the corporate governance of the club, the greater my unease.  The Articles should be much clearer about the process for appointment of a new director.

Once again, I say time for a revolution, who wants to join me?

Shef, I share some of your concerns, but I am not as worried as you or Essex are! By the way, there is an useful explanatory piece by Southwell on the thinking behind the boardroom and executive changes if you haven't seen it.

I am not sure what Essex is looking for in terms of an independent non-executive director or directors. My suspicion is he is thinking of the kind of such you get at Footsie 100 companies.

People who are members of the great and the good (sometimes with a financial background) but who have no connection to the company, and so can look at its affairs completely disinterestedly. I don't think NCFC has ever had that kind of director, and I doubt many clubs have either.

I do believe that the case for my pet hobby-horse, a supporter-director (perhaps with a bit of a financial background) with a golden-share veto on certain key heritage issues, is greater than ever. For example, if there is some loss of morale and a bit of a staff exodus then unhappy employees would probably be more willing to talk to a supporter-director than to the executive director or even the other five.
