  1. I thought we looked good when Redmond moved into the no. 10 spot in the second half, his movement was good and he added some creativity. What was surprising was that when Wes came on and played loosely on the left we looked even more creative. Yes Wes lost the ball, and yes some of his passes seemed wild, but maybe only because no one had made the right run. It seemed rather luxurious, but it was a lot closer to "the beautiful game" than the single tactic of the men in blue. Why are there no English teams in the latter stages of the European Cups? Because the European teams are 10 years ahead of us. They must have spluttered Sangria all down their white shirts at the thought that a team can have a chance of getting into the Premiership with Hoofball. The sad fact is that even those at the top of the Prem often play Hoofball too, but when someone like Van Persie brings the longball down and scores it is called a brilliant goal.
  2. She was only a carpet layer''s daughter, but she liked her under felt.
  3. Didn''t we try that on the last day of the season against Fulham a few seasons ago?
  4. Have we not been told something? Is the debt much greater than they said, such that they are having to sell off the fixtures and fittings before the end of the season? I see that Bobby Charlton is selling his rug on e-bay too.
  5. Be careful what you wish for, it may come about. Looking at the people who are buying into clubs these days I am glad that we have had such stability over these last many years from being backed by the poor millionaires from Suffolk. Being on the Board must feel like being a social worker - get it right and you are just doing your job, get it wrong and you are vilified. Very few of us can claim to have made no mistakes, in life or at work. Where are Cardiff and Fulham this season?
  6. Providing The team from down the A140 don''t go up, then I for one would be happy with another year in the Championship, to give AN another season to build the team he wants and get our defence sorted out. Then we can go up automatically and stand a better chance of staying up.
  7. Ridiculous sending off. We''ve been on the wrong end of so many bad decisions this season, and they far outweigh the Penalty Wes earned through cheating. Having said that I think we should be a little ashamed that Wes did cheat.
  8. I was happy to see Snodders go at the time, but with how AN sets the team up at the moment I feel that Snodders on the right with Bradders on the left could have been a very prolific combination. Biggest drawback would have been a lack of defensive cover for the RB to get forwards - Snodders was willing, but defending was not his strength.
  9. Another reason why AN is better than "the messiah" (not my words) is that when AN is interviewed I don''t need to use the Subtitles button.
  10. I can''t see him getting another PL job, not without redeeming himself first, probably by dropping to the championship and getting that team performing better and getting to at least the play-offs (but NOT with NCFC). He did very little of merit at Villa.
  11. There might be three more games after that, and we have yet to play well at Wembley.
  12. Thank goodness we don''t have to play them again this season (assuming that one or both of us get into the automatic places) as , while he may not be prolific, my impression is that he tends to score against us.
  13. The list of past winners shows that, while we like to see goals being banged in we love to watch a winger plying his trade.
  14. I would not disagree - I am still at the playing and Managing level of FIFA 2005. But it does have Motty commentating, which is why I love it so much.
  15. The biggest problem is that any player from a Prem or Championship side will be overpriced. Leaugue 1 or 2 players will be seen as "unproven at this level", which encourages us to look abroad, but after the RVW debacle we all know what a lottery that can be. So sign no one, trouser the money and hope we stay up somehow.
  16. Luis Suarez anyone? Now there is someone with a bit of bite.
  17. I''m with CJ on this one. In no way was this a "stonewall" penalty - Martin had his back to goal, was on the edge of a packed penalty area and they were both going for the ball. I do not dispute that the rules could allow that to be interpreted as a penalty, but for me it was a poor decision - one lacking intelligence and smacking of cowardice.
  18. I thought Howson was very average against Rotherham. He would do a Wes (do a 360 with the ball and thereby slow things down) or rush forwards with the ball and then suddenly stop and pass it sideways - maybe he thinks he is still playing for Hughton. I wondered at the time whether we needed an old (and therefore wise) head on the pitch against Rotherham, and I still wonder whether Gary O''Neill might be worth a start in midfield sometime?
  19. We already have a left winger on the pitch in Olsen, but we need to play with a left midfielder to cover for him when he goes forwards. Can Gary O''Neill play in that position? I felt that we were crying out for a bit of guile on Saturday to unlock their defence.
  20. FYI the away fans were herded into the left hand side of the Barclay (when viewed from the pitch) when all the great battles took place, such as against Leeds, Manure, Arsenal and Millwall I say "Great" because i was standing in the River End at the time, so got a good view, and at times the fighting was more entertaining than the football.
  21. I thought we looked tired yesterday, and in need of some fresh legs to get things going - which happened with the substitutions. I now wish we had sold Hoolahan to the Villains, as at least we wouldn''t still be having this discussion. Hoolahan on the wing does not work, so we do need to play a left midfielder. He does give us creativity, but like Snodgrass, there is a price to pay. Our defence looked woeful yesterday, and against a good side would have shipped a hat-full of goals. It''s going to be a long hard season.
  22. When we went up under Worthy I could never understand why we let Malky and Roberts go - yes they were both slow for the Prem, but squad size wasn''t regulated then and the guys we got in were no better. Am I the only one to see that almost every goal scored against us that season was scored by someone who had Craig Fleming standing next to them doing sweet FA to stop them scoring? The squad we have now might be able to finish 17th in the Prem, so I for one am confident that, if we go up, we can build on this squad and do well enough.
