1.
Mulumbu isn''t similar to Vadis. Vadis is a more attacking option and would never be played DM.
Based on what the Baggies fans said, Mulumbu isn''t a defensive midfielder, he''s more of a box to box player who drives the play forward in a Korey Smith/Crofts mould. Yacob was their defensive midfielder.
2.
If this is true - one point remains. We have too many central midfielders. Who will be on the way out. O''niel? VOO? Andreu? All of the above?
I don''t see Andreu going, purely because it would embarrass Neil too much. I think he''ll give him the season at least. Working on the basis that we''ll keep the starting 11 from Wembley + Dorrans, Grabban and Andreu. Based on McNally''s interview this morning, six players coming in seems a fair estimate. So Vadis would be fighting with Hooper, Ryan Bennett, Elliot Bennett, Declan Rudd(or keeper 3) for those final five slots in the 25. But I''d definitely see O''Neil joining RVW, Turner and Lafferty on the way out.
3. After Barry Simmonds left the club I don''t believe we actually have a "Head of Recruitment", so Alex Neil will definitely be calling all the shots.I think the footballing board was brought about from Hughton trying to do too much, at the expense of the first team, based on the specific examples McNally gave.
4.
Since that golden period under Walker when youngsters such as Sutton, Gordan, Fox and Goss all claimed regular places in the first team we haven''t had many establish themselves with the club.
I''d add Bellamy and Eadie to that list. Maybe even Shackell. The problem is that when you''ve got money, the less likely you are to blood in the youngsters, unless they''re exceptional. The last quality central midfielder we had come through was probably Andy Johnson, and he was prepared to stick it out till he was 23/24 to get a first team place. Aside from that Korey Smith, who got his chance in league one due to our lack of quality.
5. I think you''re being a touch generous with our current squad.I imagine Elliot Bennett will either be covering the right back slot or can find a new club.Given how little Gary O''Neill played under Alex Neil, I think he''d be looking for his fourth successive promotion elsewhere. I could even see Hooper going.
6. So was it McDonalds, Nike or Adidas that pushed him? ;)
7. Remember Ian Holloway at Palace, when he bought so many players he couldn''t fit them all in his 25 man squad? Because the better players didn''t become available until the end of the window.Whilst we know Adams had a chat with every player, we don''t know how many wanted to leave, but had to come back with their tails between their legs when they couldn''t get anything else. I wouldn''t be surprised if that was Hooper. With Lafferty, Adams needs a strong target man, but didn''t attract Jerome until much later in the window.
8.
He has played well but why only 2 years?
Normally a marker that he''s on good money, and at 28 probably at his peak.
9. Would have thought he was more likely to sign for Leicester, since it''s closer to Stoke
10. To be fair to them, I doubt many of the trolls we''ve seen in recent weeks were actually Middlesborough fans ;)
11. Sadly my money would be on Boro. If Alex Neil had been in charge all season, we''d have won the league at a canter. We struggle to break down well organised defensive teams, hate players running in behind us, and have a stupid habit of giving sloppy, retarded goals away (Ipswich at home in the playoffs- case in point).
12.
There is nothing more entertaining than a thread full of plastics trying to convince people they are not plastic
Not even a binner ignoring the empty seats at Portaloo Road?We were getting full houses in League 1 days. Tickets are like gold dust now. Hardly "Plastic" behaviour.
13. Why on earth can''t Rob Butler shut up about the Bradley Johnson booking? He''s been going on like a scratched record for nearly 30 minutes.
14. 2-0 up at home, Bitmingham didn''t have a shot on goal until injury time, then final score is 2-2.We''re 1 point off the top now.....
15. He was attacked by a malicious gust of wind, controlled by Troy Deeney ;)
16. McNally''s squeezing every last drop he can. My dad is now 67, and after having a season ticket for 25 years was told he couldn''t have an OAP discount and sit anywhere near the halfway line, because that''s "premium seating" so he''s had to move.
17.
Sounds like breakfast with a load of non-working and retired blanket wearers to me! lolHis team selections have been poor and we have lost more ground on the top 2 and 4 more games have passed. Whittaker in midfield was a shocking selection and he continues to select the defenders that have failed all season. It is my belief this is because they are Scottish internationals and he is aware of their standing as opposed to current form. In a season so important some serious questions needed asking, I would guess it was full of the blind support the lovely club at all times club. I can just imagine a valid question be shot down with "shut up comments" Why did he select Whittaker in midfield??? He is paid enough to not make such game losing decisions!
Nope, I had a day off work to come up and see my family. Howson was suspended. Tettey and O''Neil were injured. Whitaker was chosen there because he played central midfield in the Rangers team during their UEFA/Europa league run in 2008, when they reached the final.I knew that before attending the Q&A.Managers are paid to make decisions, and ultimately if they make too many bad ones, they get the chop. He admitted it didn''t work, but was keen to stress "with the players at my disposal". I''d be more concerned if after he reshapes the squad, he was still having those types of problems. The muppets argument was that he should have played either Wes or a youth team player instead, Alex Neil correctly pointing out that they''d be too lightweight.
18. Yeah, I was there, I was the guy wished happy birthday. The club has pretty much done this annually I believe, it was the same format as the Paul Lambert one I went to in our Championship promotion year. It''s a breakfast followed by a Q&A session. You write a question on a piece of paper, and the MC then selects some decent questions to ask the manager. But if the wrong questions get asked, they will just treat it like a glorified presser, and give a stock answer. In reality it was a touch more heated, but only at the end, befor that it had all been very cordial and friendly. The muppet in question was at the other end of the room, so it was difficult to hear him. It was about 9:25am and Adrian Forbes was wrapping up.The muppet asked who had been choosing the questions, and Forbes replied that he had. The muppet then sticks a dig in, saying that he''d heard more about Hamilton than Norwich City, and follows this up with Whitaker selection. Alex Neil answered well and got a thunderous round of applause for his efforts. It''s worth noting that security were asking if they needed to intervene.
19. Looking out of my window in Warwick, we barely got a dusting of snow. Looks more like some one dropped a bag of flour.
20. Surely he meant "Ipswich in the cellar"? though "Ipswich in the gutter" would be more appropriate
21. I can only imagine how that conversation wentRicky: "My agent said something about an Aston Martin"Paul "No, we''d like you to play for Aston Villa"*phone goes dead*
22.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQ40-226qwk&list=UUzdkZv6--BWsUQ9rKUtQ1TQ
Am I the only person who thought Adams'' reaction when asked the first (and obvious) question was a bit odd? Looked like a sharp intake of breath and raised eyebrows to me. Phelan waiting in the wings to dispatch Adams?
23.

Can you just remind us all ,, when this was and at which club ? Also , why he is not managing now ? Well .... He wasn''t yesterday 😳
Certainly.  Kilmarnock, Scottish First Division. He left that to come to Norwich.   Your point being presumably that the SFD is not a high league club.  Well I go back to the point about up and coming managers who have to start somewhere.  He has experience as manager and did very well in his first season as a manager.   You can be sniffy about that or you can embrace the fact that he has management experience and has proved he can do it at a lower level - and is now at Norwich as a potential future manager.  Its entirely up to you, but given how the club has set up a structure that will ensure continuity, his name will be at or near the top of any short list should Adams be demoted.
He played for KilmarnockHe managed Falkirk ;)
