1. Ruddy 8 comfortable game Whittaker 3 rarely moved forward - poor passing Martin 5 steady not much to do Turner 6 steady not much to do Ollson 5 lacked pace - average passing Bennett 4 never in game - did not show any pace Johnson 4 fairly anonymous - too defensive Hoolahan 5 very little positive passing - just the simple ball Surman 3 barely noticeable Grabban 4 no service but did not look that sharp Redmond 3 shooting continues to be very poor - never took his fullback on Lafferty 6 looked involved and could be useful Overall seemed as if nothing has changed since the Hughton era
2. I thought Adams got the tactics right and brought on Redmond at the correct time. A late breakaway goal was really our only option. Interesting to see Ryan Bennett was a useful alternative with his long throws. Why did the previous coaching staff never recognise this !! Overall a gutsy performance but I am afraid the quality of our football throughout the game clearly showed why we will be relegated. The passing was dreadful and only one penetrating ball played for the whole of the match. Numerous short suicidal balls and possession conceded time and time again. A lot of passing back again. Little running off the ball and general lack of pace throughout the team. In terms of quality we have been in gradual decline from the day Hughton arrived, and in his tenure I cannot think of any player who has improved. Most of them have gone backwards. We probably have the players to perform decently in the Championship but we need much improved management and coaching staff.
3. Cannot blame current manager too much for this shambolic performance. Obviously encouraged a more positive approach but there was a lack of basic football quality throughout the whole of the team.
4. Agree. Adrian just does not seem to realise how poor we have been for most of the season. From the kickoff there was not one person capable of holding the ball and the quality of the football and passing was some of the worst I have ever sesason. Total lack of confidence. With the best will in the world I just cannot see us obtaining another point.
5. Initially looked a quick clever winger. Gone down rapidly and final ball has been very poor for some time. Well short of premiership quality. Reminds me a lot of Wright-Phillips/Neil Lennon. Looks dangerous but produces little in the end result.
6. We never looked likely to breakdown a well organised WBA set up after we went a goal down. As usual Hughton''s press comments were typical of the man. He said he and the coaches will have to sit down and analyse the game and review tactics. Why cannot he show some managerial qualities during the game. How on earth could he not notice the following: 1) Most of Ruddy''s clearances went towards Snodgrass. I would estimate about 30. Snodgrass was beaten in the air virtually every time and we never made any progress. 2) Our only outlet seemed to be Bassong who it is blindingly obvious has little clue how to play a positive forward pass and has become a real ditherer. WBA were quite content to allow him to be fed the ball as they quickly realised there would be no impact. 3) As usual Snodgrass takes all the corners. Cannot recall any of them causing much problems for the visitors. No pace on the ball. Why not someone else to add a bit of variety and surprise. 4) In the secondhalf there were the odd occasions when we got to the byline. But none of the "strikers" showed much inclination to attack the ball - albeit as usual the final ball lacked quality. Hughton tells a nice meaningless story every week but since his first game in charge I have never really rated him.
7. You only have to consider Hughton''s comments and subsequent tactics that he spends most of his time showing far too much respect for the opposition. Bearing in mind Swansea''s recent terrible record we should have carried on as per last week and took the game to them, but the commentator continually said we are defending very deep .It would help if we had some kind of leadership on the pitch.
8. Most amazing signing we have ever made. Sometimes wonder if he is a double. He just does not look like a footballer. Never seems to be in the box where it counts. Spends a lot of time in midfield and when he does receive the ball treats it like a hot potato with a quick hurried short pass. No confidence on the ball at all and shows no signs of holding up the ball on the rare occasions he is upfront on his own. We have really yet to see him take on a defender. Often said he gets in to good positions, but I do not see this. If anything is not in the right place where it hurts. I completely accept that under Hughton this is a graveyard for strikers but I do not actually see the Wolf making much of an impact at Championship level. As earlier mentioned he has made less of an impact than Morrison and Kamara. I cannot see any likelihood of him contributing more, particularly under the negative Hughton.
9. Have never really rated him. Seems to have long anonymous spells. Watching Soton game extended highlights I can hardly recall him being mentioned. BUT it is fair to say that not one player has really moved on and improved since the arrival of Hughton and his management team.
10. Had never heard of him before today. Best referee we have had this season. No theatricals, firm, but always kept himself in the background and allowed the game to flow. As I saw it all of his decisions seemed correct.
11. Not a Hughton fan but have to admit he  easily won the managerial contest yesterday. Certainly helped by Pellegrini''s ineptitude who in "typical Hughton style" did not have a Plan B. Man City started out as a practice match, and the result would be foregone conclusion, and never made any adjustment to ruffle a well organised defensive response from the Canaries. The visitors played the Barcelona/Swansea possession stuff without really looking to break down our defence. Little change of pace etc. Thought they would come out secondhalf with a more quicker and direct style of attack, but nothing changed. Pellegrini''s most amazing confession was that he instructed Toure, the best attacking midfielder in the league, to sit back in a more defensive role. Presumably he was aware that the Canaries have only scored 19 goals in 25 games and yesterday it was fairly obvious we would not break them down through the middle of the pitch. Have to say we were also helped by the appearance of Milner who does little for me. As for Hughton I suppose he started with Plan A and there was no need to change it. However Becchio should have been brought on near the end as he would have made an effort to chase down the defenders a bit and show a bit of fight and energy which Ricky failed to do. Arguably Ricky missed a great chance to win the game from Redmond''s late cross.
12. Thought Toure barely touched him. Ricky''s response was theatrical and embarrassing. Noticed it was initially Fer who seemed to try and calm him down. I think the lad is becoming very frustrated and is aware he is not exactly a crowd favourite. To date we have all been giving him the benefit of the doubt but I find it difficult to suggest he will make his mark in the Premiership. Was under the impression he came here mainly as a goal poacher in the box but seems lightweight to compete with the burly defenders he comes across in this league. Has resorted to playing deeper in midfield but that does not appear to be his strength. Easily knocked off the ball.
13. If we play the suggested teams don''t think I will bother to go. The whole of the game will be spent in our half. But a likely Hughton negative lineup. Give Murphy and Redmond with Hooper a go. It might!,!,!!! Give us a bit of entertainment for a change.
14. I suspect McNally is playing it cool. He will go by the transfer deadline whereby we will get the best price for him. All this talk of we do not want him to go is merely pushing up the price. How on earth can Hughton say he is not available when he has only played him 5 times this season and he was far from being first choice last season. Wes is creative but is going nowhere under Hughton''s negative stuff. He is also very one footed and gets caught in possession too much. If theplayer himself wants to go as well then do not stand in his way for a realistic price. The nonsense with Villa is childish.
15. I would accept that apart from Ruddy none of our other players had much of a game. But to me, Pilks was non-existent and should have been replaced by Redmond at half-time.Redmond was more in the game for his first five minutes than Pilks for the whole of the time he was on the pitch.I realise Pilks has a lot of fans but I fail to understand why.
16.
Pilkington is a proven quality player in this division, and Redmond has massive potential yet has flattered to deceive. Delighted Pilks got some time on the pitch today, think he has been a massive loss for us. L Rudolph, did you see Man City have scored over 100 goals? Perhaps you should pay more attention to them if 1-0 victories aren''t worthy.
The point I am trying to make was that we were desperate for goal and an injection of pace to get behind the defence was needed. A young fully fit Redmond would have more to offer. Pilks was coming back off long layoff. what de he do when he game on!!!
17. A well deserved win against yet another very average premiership side. But as somebody said perhaps we made them look poor. Still lacking confidence in the final third but it should improve with a couple of wins under the belt. The game was crying out for Redmond to come on after 60 mins but instead we saw Pilkington do very little which was not surprising bearing in mind his long lay off. A poor management decision in my book!!!
18. No,No,No. All talk and little substance.
19.
As usual entirely agree with Ricardo. We have the players to maintain a mid-table place. Thought Hughton was a good appointment, largely based on observations of other people, but so far non-plussed both by his tactics and signings. We are playing two strict lines of four with another midfielder supposedly supporting Holt. It is already apparent that our more attacking midfielders - Howson, Bennett and Pilkington - are concentrating on defensive duties and so far have barely crossed the halfway line this season. This is hopeless and hence lack of goals and attacking play. Towards the end today I noticed we had eight players back in our penalty box trying to contain four Fulham players and even then we did not look defensively solid. Do not understand the signings of Turner and Whittaker who do not look as good as we already have. Why sign a left back when a fully fit Tierney looks completely adequate. Apparently talk of signing another goalkeeper when we already have two very good prospects. As regards interviews I do at least undertand Chris and he seems to talk a good story. I realise it is early days but to date he has got it all wrong and he desperately needs a good win aginst QPR to settle the supporters nerves and I suspect convince the senior players that he is the right man for the job.
Before being criticised as being very knowledgeable - with the benefit of hindsight - I have turned up my quote after a couple of games under Hughton. First watched the Canaries about 66 years so I suppose I should have a rough idea of how to play football. Not available to take over as Manager, because apart from a few exceptions you can never win !!! If only I could have made better predictions with my finances. Sack him today and appoint Neil Adams supported by Huckerby and Co. until a permanent manager can be appointed. Does anybody seriously think we will be worse off.
20. I believe recommended by legendary Dutch international Neeskens. He is father of the Wolf,s girlfriend !!
21.
you beat me to it. I can''t bare listening to him anymore. he talks loads without saying anything. he''s talking about our failure in front of goal, what about our defending? He sounds lost and clutching at straws...
Agree entirely. Just comes out with the same rubbish every week and talks as if we played well. Lets be honest Fulham were very poor again, as per their recent form, but we were weak in every department. No leadership, backed out of many tackles, complete inability to build any consistent attacking play, usual practice of passing to team member already closed down and tightly marked, slow thinking etc etc. Mention of us having more possession. Quite true but most of it meant passing the ball backwards. Looked like Calderwood''s strange tactics. Fox played as our defensive midfielder with Bradley Johnson, not our best passer, playing as a left sided midfield attacker, and occasionally all over the place. At times in the secondhalf he was in front of the Wolf who spent most of his time in midfield looking for a decent pass, which never appeared. Hull is definitely the last chance saloon for Hughton.
22. I believe we should start with a full strength team who are likely to face Hull. We are desperately in need of some confidence in going forward and scoring goals. After all the teams competing in the Champions League are more or less putting out their best team twice a week. Yes there is a risk of someone getting injured but is any player doing that well to be seriously missed. Of course if we lose, Hughton will be able to trot out his usual nonsense that we were a makeshift team and Fulham are full of quality and in the midst of a good run. Anyway to return to priorities, we have to beat Hull and take at least a point off Newcastle otherwise we are in big trouble.
23. Number 9. Your views are quite correct. We rarely work a ball through the middle to score and the basics of playing a ball in to space for someone to run on to are just not understood by this management. The times a short pass is made to a colleague who is already closely marked happens time and time again. Even worse is the square passing in midfield and then ultimately it is put back to a defender or Ruddy who hopefully thumps a high ball forward to a lone striker who has little chance of bringing it under control and progressing the attack. As regards the wingers they cut inside rather than take the ball to the byline and the eventual cross is much easier for the defenders to deal with. More frustrating is that when the cross does come over there is usually only one person in the box. Most "wise old supporters" see these deficiences week after week. The management do not seem to be aware of these basics, even after 18 months, that is why I have little confidence in Hughton. Last season we did succeed in scoring many of our goals from set pieces. It is not happening this season - hence the depressing statistic of our average of less than one goal a game.
24. I am afraid Hughton has lost the confidence of many supporters - both at the games and on this site. He just seems unable to adopt a flexible approach when some action needs to be done. i.e. Plan B. Clearly on Saturday the crowd thought he was taking off our best striker on current form, obviously not aware he was carrying a slight knock. The supporters have seen on many occasions his poor use of subs and they took it that this was another mistake. It is fair to say that there is a build up of "Hughton cannot get much right" and the only way to combat this is to score some goals and win matches. We should have beaten one of the poorest Man Utd teams they have ever put out, the usual problem being that there was no real support in the box for the lone striker. It does not help that so far as high crosses are concerned, Hooper is not that tall and Elmander is not a great header of the ball. Perhaps of even more concern is that when RVW came on he played far too deep.
25. As Ginger Pele states Sky will continue to get away with their "hype" whilst football is entertaining. It is also a fact that the Premiership is a worldwide brand for entertainment. I have to confess that despite being a long standing fan I find very few home games entertaining, and away games even worse. I do not see the quality of the football as very great. I do not wish to knock young Redmond for example, but he is quite clever with the ball at his feet, but he belongs strongly to the Lennon/Wright Phillips brigade who are very poor when it comes to crossing the ball. When I went to Newcastle their multi million strikers were nearly hitting the corner flags with their shots. Having said that, being Norfolk born and bred I still look forward to every game, even Fulham and the strolling Berbatov. I suppose it is just plain loyalty to the great City of Norwich. But unless I obtain some sort of entertainment soon I wonder whether I will give up that season ticket !!! Lets be under no illusions, Sky have a great business plan to make money out of football. I do not see the bubble bursting for the foreseeable future but it is a fact that the Premiership consists of about 14 teams who, because of the money, are forced to scrape for points to stay up rather than give us regular entertaining football.
