  1. Zonal marking doesn't work for us as they all get in each others way and fail to pick up any runner. Just for once I would love to see Farke try leaving 1/2 players on the halfway line, at least for corners. Really disappointed tonight as I think we gifted Southampton those 3 points. Will need to play better on Sat against Shef Utd as they are the masters of closing the opposition down.
  2. I agree 100%. We move the ball so slowly and then try and walk it in. The sad thing is if we were a bit more positive we could have got a result. I lost count of how many times we passed sideways or backwards. I can only guess that Farke told Byram don't try and pass the ball forward. All they had to do was press us and we would give the ball away. So disappointing but that is the way Farke likes to play.
  3. 10 in the box never win the first header and never pick up the runners. You would think Farke would learn.
  4. It was painful to watch today as Villa were not that good, but we made them look good. Irrespective of our injury list, too many players failed to pick up runners, failed to cut out crosses and don't get me started on the amount of times we just gave the ball away. There are plenty of games left and we will get injured players back soon, but similar performances like today could soon see us anchored in that bottom three. Farke has said that we will not change our way of playing, but he may need to tweak his tactics a little as we are becoming very predictable.
  5. Despite all the injuries and lack of spending money we are still outside the bottom three. One win in this league can take you straight into the top half. When our key players return from injury Farke will have a full squad to choose from and I expect us to start picking points up away from home. I bet the bottom three would like to change places with us, especially Newcastle who have just let 5 in against Leicester.
  6. Late substitutions, zonal marking, failure to leave any players on the halfway line for corners and free kicks are the way Farke likes to play, and this is unlikely to change. I would like to see us bring on a substitute with 20 mins to go especially if the outfield players are not threatening to score. If we leave Buendia and Pukki on the halfway line, at least for corners, this would mean the opposition would leave at least 2 back which might give our defenders a chance to pick up any runners; not to mention having an outlet if we clear the ball. This would also confuse our opponents who know we always bring 10 men back for corners and free kicks.
  7. Farke will always put out a team to win the game. Where possible I believe he will try and start with the same 11 unless there are injury doubts, or he feels he might need to change the formation against a specific opponent. I fully expect to see the same starting line up for Chelsea as they all played their part in the win against Newcastle. It is great news that he has Klose and Zimmermann coming back from injury, but that shouldn't mean he drops Hanley. You could argue that Buendia hasn't had the best of starts, but on his day he is a match winner. We have a much stronger squad this season and every member of that squad, if fit, would like to start the game. As a group they all supported each other last season, especially those players not in the matchday squad. I believe this will also be the case this season.
  8. I saw enough in our game against Liverpool to suggest we have a good chance of staying up; as did the Liverpool manager. I listened to two supporters of West Ham and Crystal Palace yesterday saying the three promoted clubs will be an easy 6pts. Those two teams may well find they will struggle this season, especially West Ham who conceded 5 at home to Man City. I love it when people write us off.
  9. I still worry about the defence. Farke clearly likes to play short passing between the back four and the keeper, as well as bringing all players back for corners and free kicks. He appears to be sticking with that same tactic this season so hopefully we can cause enough problems going forward to keep the opposition away from our defence. It worked last season so fingers crossed it will again this season.
  10. Hopefully some club might be prepared to take him on loan and pay some of his reported 30k a week wages. If not we will just have to wait until his contract expires like we did with Naismith.
  11. They have wealthy owners who can invest their own money.
  12. Webber has said all along that we do not need to sell, and the players are happy at Norwich. The only thing would be if a big club offered a figure we could not turn down, and the player wanted to go there. I am confident all our youngsters will want a season with us in the Premiership as they earned it by getting promotion.
  13. Yes they did serve Norwich well and both were rewarded with premiership contracts. I believe we now have sufficient wide players who can also play more centrally; as well as the promising young players in the U-23 team. I cannot see how they could add much more to the squad we have, but I wish them both well for the future.
  14. It is pleasing to see that once again Man City are happy to send one of their promising youngsters out on loan to us; look how well Angus Gunn did when he came to Norwich. You only have to look at the Man City squad to understand why the majority of their homegrown youngsters are unlikely to make it to the first team. I think a lot of managers in the Premiership would like to have Buendia, Hernandez, Cantwell and Roberts in their squad.
  15. I personally think it is still work in progress for Webber, and he will relish the challenge of keeping Norwich in the Premiership. He has made it clear to the club that he would like to work abroad eventually. It will only enhance his CV if once again he finds good players, at the right price, to add to our current squad and keep us up.
  16. If Alan (who ate all the pies) Brazil had said Ipswich were one of the bigger sides in League 1 then he would be correct.
  17. Hopefully he can stay injury free and score a few goals. Farke must see something in him, as the extension keeps him on the books until 2021.
  18. If he can stay fit I think Thompson could fit that DM role next season.
  19. The good news is Leeds have secured their place in the Championship early. They now have an extra week to convince players to come to a club who believe they should be in the premier league.🤣
  20. The only table I look at is the one that says: 25 wins 13 draws 6 losses
  21. I like Tettey as a defensive midfielder, but do you really think it Is wise to bring him in for such an important game, as he is nowhere near being match fit. There are enough options with the current squad without having to resort to throwing in Tettey who hasn't played a competitive game since the away defeat to Preston in Feb.
  22. But I guess he was happy the ref didn't book Fletcher for cheating, for using his hand to score their second goal.
  23. We can speculate all day on whether Farke will make changes against Shef Wed, but I am sure, subject to any major injuries, he will already know what side he wants to put out. Personally I think we need either Vrancic or Leitner starting as they are likely to create more chances than those currently playing in midfield. The bottom line is Farke has generally got it right most times with only 6 losses in 42 games, and sitting 4 points clear of Leeds and 7 ahead of Shef Utd.
  24. Most supporters have seen Vrancic make an impact when he has come on in the last 2 games; we must now see whether Farke believes his starting 11 is his choice on Fri. I like the fact he is giving Cantwell a chance but I think the experience of Vrancic and Leitner is needed to get us over the line.
  25. A good point today against a strong Wigan side. Vrancic made a difference again today when he came on and should, in my opinion, start on Fri against Shef Wed.
