Ben the kNapper, wake up and do your damn job! This is woeful. And if it wasn’t for a single piece of brilliance and Hull being dire, we’d be in trouble.

Totally outnumbered in central midfield where he doesn't have the natural game to read the danger and break up play. Should be playing a more advanced role where he could use his skills.

He needs a rest I think, even though he is playing out of position he has misplaced quite a few simple passes, not that others haven't done the same but i've noticed a hell of a lot from him tonight.

Indeed and totally against the run of play.

There was no ‘run of play’. It’s been poor stuff from both.

Personally, I welcome our new tactic of kick 'em out the game, then just give it to Jonny.

We may finish with nine men at this rate, though.

Remember the days when we were always the team getting bullied and kicked about?

Gianoullis giving me the heeby jeebies - would seriously consider replacing him with McCallum at half time. Absolutely brilliant goal from Rowe.

When we are a goal up it must be because the opposition are poor.

Both teams are playing this out in midfield and it's scrappy. It doesn't make us awful.

Not a red btw. Silly stuff.

If Wagner has a brain he should take Giannoulis off at half-time.

We've been poor but Hull are no better. Apart from the one flash of genius it's been awful. A good job Ricardo doesn't have to write a report!

To be fair the pitch looks stodgy/bobbly, but you’d definitely expect better from two sides apparently looking towards the playoffs (however unlikely).

No doubt if there was VAR that would have been a red for Giannoulis.

If there was VAR Millwall's clearly offside goal would have been ruled out and our perfectly good goal against Southampton would have been allowed and we would have 3 more points than we do now.

Exactly. We're now dishing some back and it's getting the tut-tut treatment. If we're lacking confidence a bit, turn games into an absolute scrap and force the opposition to stay in front of you. Challenge them to find a premium through ball in very tight spaces. Still need another central mid in there, or even three centre-halves just to gunk up the middle more but yeah, for all the times we've been a bit soft, this bit of clogging is not a bad thing to see.

Suspect the ref has been made aware he dropped an absolute clanger in not sending Gianoulis off, and as he's having a poor game anyway I'd get McCallum on for him at HT.

Absolute shambles, but that pitch is just embarrassing. The worst pitch in the top 4 leagues?

A half that sums us up under Wagner. No decent possession, a bit of threat on the counter and a goal due to individual quality. But no control over the gsme and so easy to play through.

we are winning despite the coach not because of hi or his tactics which are sh*t as usual.

It's so frustrating. We are better than this. We have quality players who are being held back by limited coaching. It's got to stop. With the shackles off, I feel like we'd storm into the play offs. You know what's coming though. We'll sit back, put men behind the ball. Scrap as much as we can, lose discipline, go down to 10 men and eventually we will tank.

He’s always been a liability coupled with flashes of brilliance. Can’t see him getting a new deal, way too unreliable.

I agree, said it another thread but most Championship clubs would be envious of an attack including Rowe, Sargent, Sainz and Sara. Our overall squad isn’t top material but we have real talent that’s being wasted.

Pretty turgid first half, Rowes goal the only real bit of quality by either side.

Midfield need to get into the game. The defence has done a good job keeping Hull at bay but the midfielders need to get their foot on the ball to relieve a bit of pressure now and again and give the strikers something to hold up or run on to.

Sargent and Barnes completely reliant on scraps at the moment

What midfield? We're playing a 424 with two number 10's in the middle of the park but also setting the team up to stick 10 men behind the ball and asking our defenders to create all of our moves and forwards to do most of the defending. It's all so backwards and overly complicated.

Do the basics right, square pegs in square holes, work hard, keep things simple and then when you've got that down and it's working start to implement new ideas. We're trying to be too clever as usual and as a result we look so disjointed and confused.

True though isn't it?

Yes but also irrelevent to whether we were a bit lucky to not be down to 10 men in this game.
