Desert Island Delia

Recommended Posts

Nah, calm done some of you, she isn't heading off to a far away place, but having her 2nd visit to Desert Island Discs. I've not heard it but I'm sure it will reveal one or two more controversial thoughts.

Mahler's 8th symphony, with the highly appropriate closing words:

"All that is past is merely a dream;

Eternal womanhood shows us the way."

Anything from the 80s. Percent of course.

Very good, I’d been searching for a song with 80% in the title.

Probably more Webber than Delia but I was tempted by D.I.V.O.R.C.E by Dolly.

And now the end is here
And so I face that final curtain
My friend I'll make it clear
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain
I've lived a life that's full
I traveled each and every highway
And more, much more
I did it, I did it my way
Regrets, I've had a few
But then again too few to mention
I did what I had to do
I saw it through without exemption
I planned each charted course
Each careful step along the byway
And more, much, much more
I did it, I did it my way
Yes, there were times I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew
But through it all, when there was doubt
I ate it up and spit it out
I faced it all and I stood tall and did it my way
For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself then he has naught
Not to say the things that he truly feels
And not the words of someone who kneels
Let the record shows I took all the blows and did it my way

I've got love for you
If you were drawn in the 80%, the 80%
I've got hugs for you
If you were a pawn in the 80%, the 80%

I'll do things for you
If you were torn in the 80%, the 80%
I've got hugs for you
If you were born in the 80%
Yeah

Talking heads......road to nowhere.

Well, we know where we're going but we don't know where we've been and we know what we're knowin' but we can't say what we've seen.

And we're not little children and we know what we want and the future is uncertain give us time to work it out.

Classic!

Or Delia by Nick Cave:

Delia, oh, Delia
Delia all my life
If I hadn't have shot poor Delia
I'd have had her for my wife
Delia's gone, one more round
Delia's gone

Presumably another variation of the traditional song covered by the likes of Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan based on the murder of 14 year old Delia Green on Christmas Day 1900.
