He's been the subject of discussion on this board before. If you haven't seen his challenge on Gakpo yesterday have a look at MOTD. Sorry, the only links online at the moment are from rather dubious sources.

If this was an isolated incident perhaps it wouldn't be so bad but he's building up quite a history now. Someone is going to get badly hurt eventually.

I thought he should have been sent off. Studs up going into a 50/50 and making contact is a sending off offence.  VAR fails again.

Yeah, that's lucky not to be a red. LDC calls that a 50/50... I would say there is a huge difference to a 50/50 where both are going at the ball on the ground with their feet, and this where it is clearly head height and the 6 foot and some defender decides to do a WWE move on their opponent.

Serious dangerous play - straight red for me.

50/50's on the deck need a pinch of salt. In the air - no.

The only thing stopping serious injury there is that Gakpo has one foot on the ground and his weight is leaving it - if that makes sense. If he is planted, you'd be talking about broken ribs and possibly punctured lungs. Higher up and it could be a nasty head injury.

SERIOUS FOUL PLAY

A tackle or challenge that endangers the safety of an opponent or uses excessive force or brutality must be sanctioned as serious foul play.

Any player who lunges at an opponent in challenging for the ball from the front, from the side or from behind using one or both legs, with excessive force or endangers the safety of an opponent is guilty of serious foul play

He's a rubbish footballer. How he's had a PL career and England caps I'll never know.

The fact he got to play for England more than once has always been a joke. He's nothing more than a violent thug and a bang average player at best.

Tyrone Mings is a first connection in my LinkedIn network; the next 'Tyrone Mings Academy' event is a charity golf day at The Belfry on Monday 29th May. They plan to buddy each team of 3 with a celeb / well-known person.

I wonder if he plays golf with the same mentality he brings to football? 🙂

The Brabazon?

The Sevvy Hole (10th. with the plaque.)

Beautiful, especially when viewed from the terrace bar.

I envy you. Enjoy.

I saw it live.

I don't even think it was a yellow.

I'm of the "He got the ball first" generation. Yes, there was follow through, what's he meant to do? Make his leg non corporeal?

He didn't follow through with force. The ref saw it on VAR and stuck with the yellow

Yep, the whole notion of a red card for a tackle when you get the ball first is odd. When players chase balls and opponents flat-out you are bound to connect on the follow-through on occasion.

I'm a referee, and a yellow card seemed about the right option. He's not gone in kung-fu for the ball, he's won the ball and caught a player who jumped into him. A red for this would have been incredibly harsh, it looked like no intent to me.

Played it this weekend in glorious sunshine. It ate me up and spat me back out.
