Fans want Smith to stay.

Recommended Posts

I've just done the poll in the PinkUn and it seems that about 58% want Smith to stay and think he will be a very good manager for us.

I'm in a minority, it seems. I hope I'm wrong.

Come end of season after another 9 defeats it might be very different! Thoroughly nice guy and wish him all the success, but he’s certainly not changed things here for the better, even Cantwell who he tried to sign for Villa didn’t buy into his style!

Lets turn into Watford and sack our managers every two months I'm sure this will fix things and everything will change and the current peformances are down to the manager and manager alone and nothing to do with the players

(.. and yes this is sarcasm)

Seeing what has happened (again!), we might as well have kept Farke and saved ourselves a shed load of money. Then Webber could have spent  it on crampons and Kendal Mint Cake

Can either of those play defensive midfield?

If this had been Dean Smith's team, then I would have said let's get rid if there is no sign of improvement, but the fella needs a chance to sort out who he wants to stay or go, and bring in who he thinks are the type of players we need

This would be hilarious if it wasn’t entirely probable.

Another stupid post. Cantwell couldn’t get in the side this season. Bad form. Wrong attitude.

If Webber walks and the Socialists are left to their own devices this is highly likely.

Seriously, Pukki 3rd on this list behind Williams and Hanley.

Imagine the state of where we would be without Pukki. I wonder what people watch sometimes.

This is a, frankly, ridiculous suggestion. As if we're in a position to replace a significant portion of the squad. We've just blown our biggest ever transfer budget on a bunch of journeymen. Under our structure the head coach isn't even primarily responsible for recruitment.

Well I’m very sorry for stating the bleeding obvious! Cantwell couldn’t get into a team which has struggled all season with a manager who wanted to buy him! Now he’s playing where we will be next year! If Smith wants to build his team surely Cantwell would have been the fist to be persuaded and used by a manager who wanted him!

Crikey, you don’t get this do you? Cantwell’s out of form. Couldn’t make Farke’s team. Couldn’t make Smith’s team. Currently not making Scott Parker’s team.

You don’t say! Yet we’re struggling to create any meaningful chances, surely if Smith was as good as some make out, he’d have focused on getting Cantwell back into form? Isn’t that what good man mangers do? Add to that I’ve not seen any marked improvement in a squad which Webber deemed good enough! In my opinion he’s lucky to be given such a lenient ride by Norwich supporters!

None of these players are Dean Smith’s and we currently have one fit 32 year old senior striker who has played constantly for club and country for at least two years plus.

No doubt if we were picking up these results with Daniel Farke his cult would be tying themselves up in knots trying to defend him.

There would have been many NCFC fans calling for Farke’s head after his middling debut season, and poor start to 18/19, so maybe we should afford Smith a bit more time.

People are presumably giving him the benefit of the doubt as the Socialists always get relegated at this level and there is nothing anyone can do about it. He also doesn't have a single player of his own as yet.

For what it’s worth I said at the time Farke probably deserved to go, but I could see why the high expectations for Smith! I still don’t, other than he’s a nice guy and probably happy to have this job! But we shall see in May just where things are!

I know small mince is a tolly troll, but one problem Football hasn’t ever had through out it’s history is any accommodation with ‘socialism’- now capitalism and its many malignant manifestations- well just turn on the news and take a peek.

Until 1996, yes.

Quite agree, either all three managers are poor at handling him, or maybe, just maybe it's down to Cantwell.

Indeed, there are only so many managers you can get through before you realise that you are in fact the problem.

Now it’s just time for Spurs and Watford to learn that…

Never know he might walk at the end of the season

I get the impression he likes the club and set up and prob the young players coming through the system. It’s reboot time . Remember Farke’s first season when patience was the buzz word. It’s that time again next season. I love the rollercoaster🤪😬🫣.

It’s interesting that most would be happy to lose the next nine games making it potentially 15 on the bounce in losses and keep the current manager, who by Webbers judgement was our best option to stay up!

We shall see in the summer just where we are.

I found that survey so user-unfriendly on my phone that I accidentally voted for richer owners. I've become a Delia-Outer by mistake.

I'd take the survey with a pinch of salt, that's all I'm saying.

Not really sure I see how you’ve jumped from most fans wanting smith to stay to also claiming that they would even if we lose the next 9 games, but I agree that time will tell. If we do lose the final 9 games (we won’t) then the manner of those losses would matter slightly but would still not change the fact that many fans are rightly not jumping to a conclusion with smith using a squad he didn’t know very well. I assume you think smith having 2-3 decent games at the helm even in the extenuating circumstances is not enough to justify keeping him a bit longer, so I do find it interesting that you are so willing to fly the Cantwell flag when he has had fewer than 2-3 decent games this season. Why does Cantwell get all the time in the world but Smith gets half a season? Particularly as TC had years in the system and plenty of premier league games under his belt. I’m obviously not a fan of TC as a player, but he’s had longer to prove himself to me than Smith. Not saying smith will work out, but let’s give him a window and a season imo - then if we don’t see progress I’m with you
