We’re really not signing anyone are we

Normann scoring one goal doesn't suddenly make him a goal threat, his CV makes it clear that he doesn't score many (like any other deep lying midfielder).

Talking of player returns in that way is good and somewhat optimistic, but surely it really amounts to moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

We are not going down because of Farke's failings, because of Webber's Summer window or because of unfortunate injuries and Covid restrictions.

We are going down at the first time of asking because that is what we do.

A new owner I hope would firstly increase the size of Carrow Road. The league average attendance is about 39k and the average matchday income is significantly more than others. This would provide more players and staff revenue, make it possible to increase our hospitality offer and increaee the calue of the ground and therefore increase the overall value of the club.

We own the land behind the City stand so that's in place already.

What a new stand would cost I have not researched but as it could be done without costly corner fills, it would hopefully not be cost prohibitive.

There is one sensible investment idea for you...x

To be fair, it is a sensible idea and I think investment in the ground is essential moving forwards. I also think that it could be sustainable financially as the debt should be more than covered by extra revenue.

Whether we could achieve an average attendance of 39k is open to question - I just don't know, but I love the idea of thousands of cheap tickets for kids and families.

Only Norwich City, in a transfer window where every one of their rivals strengthens, could loan out a previously “star” player, not sign anyone and not come under any pressure from the fan base. Staggering.

I have made this point before.

So the club bottom of the Premier League  at the opening of the January window makes not one single attempt to improve it's squad during that window. Not even a speculative loan signing.

Is this a first?

Not even a rumour! Even Rupert Murdoch can’t be bothered to make up a rumoured link with a player.

We’ll be back to another injury crisis in a couple of months and all wondering why we didn’t even attempt to strengthen.

I'd have liked to have seen some movement but I do understand this isn't an easy window for us.

Despite a recent upturn in form we're still favourites to go down, anyone signing for us would need to be OK with likely being in the Championship in 6 months time and also likely being on a Championship wage in 6 months. So established players in this league or players sitting in the top 8/9 in the Championship are likely going to need a fair bit of convincing that a permanent move to us is anything more than a sideways shift.

So loans make the most sense but we can't take another Premier League player on loan without sending one back and there is a lot of reporting that clubs are cautious about sending too many players out on loan in case they need cover for another covid outbreak.

So you're then looking abroad but if we're looking to stay up this season we need someone who could come in and hit the ground running from day one- how likely is that within our budget?

Part of me admires the nuts not to do anything. We do have a decent size squad as it stands now - and that actually did us no favours during the covid fixture suspension period. I'd have like to have seen Gilmour go back when he was injured and had him replaced with a specialist defensive midfielder, but it's down to who's available. Clubs logically don't tend to let decent performers go out on loan so anyone bought in would be a risk.

I just hope to god Normann comes back in and looks even better now he's pain free and PLM, Sarge and Idah continue their decent form. Keep Rashica & Pukki fit and actually it's not a horrendous side.

What pressure are you putting on then Jim?

Well, why would you do much recruitment if it looks like several of the new signings are beginning to click, and in Idah's case, looks like he's getting used to the physicality and intensity of the league?

Thank you.

Maybe not £39k but definitely worth looking at given the waiting list.

It could also retain an amount of Delia's expertise in increasing the covers on match day.

Cheap tickets for kids also gets in the next generation of fans who spend in the club shop etc.

Unfortunately though, probably still not good enough to stay up. Watford, like us, have bulked out their squad with cheap players who are not good enough to compete with the ones being brought in by Newcastle, Burnley and probably Everton. Hodgson will make them much harder to beat but like us, they have to score goals. Newcastle still don't have a proper goalscorer to replace Callum Wilson. They could end up spending £120m and still going down.

I think Eriksen and other signings is enough to complete Brentford's survival.

At the moment I still think it's Norwich, Watford and Burnley/Newcastle. Leeds not making any moves either - if Raphina gets injured they will still be in trouble.

I don't think we have enough to keep us in the league either tbh but we're competitive enough to keep it interesting for a little while longer.

Absolutely shocking that NCFC haven't signed anyone, sporting chance of staying up with a couple of signings and we do nothing.

Kieffer Moore off to Bournemouth for £3.5m... can't tell me he wouldn't be a useful purchase for us for that sort of money.

Can’t we?  Would he fit in our squad to better it?

We are not strengthening in this window and have to hope that the players bought in the summer continue with their improvement.

Well it’s confirmed we have no desire to stay in the premier league yet another good opportunity wasted

Well you said we stood no chance in pre-season, then said we had no chance 2 games in, then said the same 5 games in, then said the same 10 games in, then the same only a couple weeks ago - what's the point in wasting money if we have absolutely no chance of staying up anyway? 🙂😉

What REALLY irks me is that we're not just failing to bring in new signings at a time where things actually are looking up for us, we are loaning out a player who made a substantial contribution last season and during our last Premier League season.

I get the importance of keeping a happy, well gelled side, but a player as talented as Todd should not be allowed to walk out on loan.

We must be the only side in the English league system to weaken our team in January, let alone fail to strengthen it.

our back up striker is John Rowe... No offence to the lad but he's barely had a senior game. Who do we bring on for a tiring Pukki if we're chasing a game exactly?

This is a joke post surely. Idah and Sargent both scored in our last game. We've got 3 centre forwards (+ Rowe) and yes I know Sargent has started his last couple of games on the right.

Since you are Nostradamus and have confidently predicted an 'injury crisis in a couple of months' please could you let the club know in which position the injury crisis will occur. Because otherwise they might go out and strengthen the midfield only to find they have an injury crisis in defence, or strengthen the defence only to find themselves without any strikers.

We definitely are light up front if we get an injury (some might say we're light up front even without any injuries given our goals for column...) because Sargent has been playing on the wing and we're now playing two up front. If one of Idah or Pukki gets injured there's no like-for-like replacement. Not to mention no plan-B option, which might have been something that Kiefer Moore, for instance, would have offered. Still, there's a few hours left yet. Perhaps they club will surprise me and sign someone. But I really would be surprised...

Certainly - it will be definitely be up front. Last two games we’ve played ALL of our strikers on the pitch at the same time.

Then the defensive crisis will come back round again. Both Hanley and Gibson out for 4 weeks. Andrew O will cover himself well and play well alongside Sorensen.

When you summarise it like that it is fairly amazing isn’t it. Of course I will be fully behind the team and hope that we pull off the great escape somehow but it feels like it is going to be a lot harder after our inactivity.

What a really strange couple of windows we have had. Signed potential in the summer (Tzolis) rather than the required quality and didn’t sell Cantwell for more money than we now have got. Not the greatest business sense when the prize is £100m a year. Of course we could still have gone down but hoping for a 10pm surprise that was only enabled by the Todd move

Always support the team, just not very impressed with the owners and the way the club is run.
