Graham Paddons Beard 2,435 Posted August 25, 2021 Any news on his injury ? It didn’t look good when he limped off.
KeiranShikari 1,425 Posted August 25, 2021 More important than that, how do you pronounce his name? Ba-leeh Mum-bah? Bah? Jokes aside I hope he's okay too. Unless he's posted in social media you're probably not going to know until the next presser with Farke.
Graham Paddons Beard 2,435 Posted August 25, 2021 He wasn’t happy with the tackle . The physio was assessing the knee and the flexion . It looked like ligament damage or at least fears of it . Real shame - must have been on 90 mins .
Alex Moss 2,165 Posted August 25, 2021 Just goes to show the importance of signing Brandon Williams - fingers crossed we won’t need to sign another back up player in this position before the window ends! Got the impression from Farke’s post match interview that this might not be just a knock sadly, hopefully for Bali this won’t be the case though 🤞

Yeah it was a nasty tackle through frustration from a team who had been second best all over the pitch all night. The referee ignored it.

Ken Hairy 3,774 Posted August 25, 2021 Going to be slightly controversial here, but I think Mumba is going to go on to be better than Aarons......
Capt. Pants 4,266 Posted August 25, 2021 Well let's hope it isn't a lengthy injury like his last one. It will be just our luck to get a £30m bid for Max now. We might need another back up option just in case.

A Load of Squit 5,199 Posted August 25, 2021 After the game he was seen by Rob Butler and Cedric Anselin, they said he was carrying what looked like a cool box with ice.

I guess the silver lining is that if it was serious ligament damage, I can't imagine they'd have allowed him to walk back around the perimeter of the pitch. Hopefully just a strain and a couple of weeks' rehab.

Mind you I remember when Eliot Bennett did his ACL towards the end of a game no-one had a clue until the following week as he didn't even appear to go down with an injury so you never know as the saying goes! Graham Paddons Beard 2,435 Posted August 25, 2021 (edited) I’m not suggesting anything in this but Virgil Van Dijk walked off the pitch - and didn’t play for the rest of the season. Edited August 25, 2021 by Graham Paddons Beard
Red_Spartan 18 Posted August 25, 2021 To my mind this reveals the danger to us of the ' Let the game flow' directive to refs. Imho the referee should have yellow carded the first tackle on Mumba, in the corner; he looked and didn't! Bali go to his feet & moved towards half-way . He was limping and was motioning towards his R groin as if there was pain there. He was then given a pass in a tight situation, although not comfortable he evaded his marker easily. Said marker then perpetrated another bad tackle on our (v. young player). I agree with NN, this also was worthy of a card. The ref watched the tackle, then watched the ball, then watched Mumba writhing in pain on the ground, allowing play to carry on. Of this I am certain, no conjecture! I estimate it would have been the best part of a minute before he actually rechecked on our injured/assaulted player. Even then he took his time before allowing assistance onto the pitch. It reminded me of Zimbo at West Ham.

The referee not only ignored it and didn't give a free kick - it was a strong yellow all day - but he also acted as if he believed that Mumba was putting it on. I felt it was quite disgusting behaviour from an official actually. Mumba was clearly in some pain and the ref slowly jogged over him and stood over him for a fair amount of time before deciding to let the physio on. It was as if he was telling Mumba to get up and stop whinging.

Not controversial at all Hairyo, well , not to me. Bali reminds me of another rather precocious young talent Bukayo Saka. Different position( for now) very similar skill set. It was as if he was telling Mumba to get up and stop whinging. Completely agree with that, the ref was useless in that particular situation. A relatively needless and reckless tackle from behind, no idea how it wasn't a free kick and absolutely should have been a yellow. It definitely was his knee, could be a sprain but the worry would be ligaments which would put him out for 6-8 weeks. The good thing was he walked off after the game so obviously not the worst injury but still looked mighty painful at the time. A good reminder for those questioning why we were signing Williams as to how light we are in the full back areas once you have an injury to worry about
Mello Yello 2,298 Posted August 26, 2021 Hope young Mumba's ok?.....Incident happened in front of the centre of the South Stand and the ref's reaction was rather pathetic....The young lad's reaction indicated to me he wasn't shamming and was clearly in pain - and that tackle that preceded his injury was clearly and certainly an unfair one..... chicken 2,640 Posted August 27, 2021 Quote 🤬🤬🤬🤬 You jeffing 🤬no🤬 of a ref!!! Clattered through the back of him, no foul, no free kick, right under your nose. He dislocated his knee and then you stand over him as if he's pretending... serious complaint needs to be put in about that ref. Player welfare?

I think it may well be the case that Bali knocked it back into place himself. I did actually notice him hammering against the side of his knee with his fist as he was writhing on the ground. QSame thing happened to a kid at a youth tournament in Limerick a few years ago, looked horrible when it happened, knocked back into place by a medic, a couple of paracetamol ( parents ok'd it) and he was fine in a couple ofq days...even played later in week. 🤞that it's the same for Bali. dylanisabaddog 4,960 Posted August 27, 2021 Minor by comparison but I dislocated my big toe playing football many years ago. I decided not to play Sunday league any more because the specialist told me that once a joint is dislocated it will always be a risk. I was 37 so it was no great loss to anyone. My toe was very painful so God knows what it feels like if it happens to your knee.
Gibbo 131 Posted August 27, 2021 Popped my knee out way back and it was more the damage it did popping back in that was the problem, as it smashed up all the cartilage around the knee and I end up getting down to bone on bone when walking long distances now. Hope it's nothing like that for him!
