Zimmerman out for tomorrow 🙄

Recommended Posts

It’s be funny if it weren’t oh so predictable that we’d end up short, and it will be largely self-influcted.

It is completely and utterly unacceptable for a club in our position to be going into 7 games in 22 days with only 2 fit centre backs and 1 fit left back.

Have they learnt absolutely nothing? Is Webber a complete f**king idiot as he seems to consistently leave us short in key areas of the squad.

They had better find a loan between now and 5pm or I will be deeply unimpressed.

Very bizarre to let Klose go if we haven't got someone else waiting in the wings. Is there a plan here?

The suggestion of Sorenson filling in from Bailey as I saw posted elsewhere does not fill me with confidence Although I will reluctantly defer my judgement until seeing him play there or whoever else we have to resort to. We have certainly had plenty of experience now of how poorly square pegs go into round holes however... Doesn't bode well.

This Irish fella in the under 23s better be the next Paul McGrath then! Mad how we can't even afford like £1m for a loan until Jan for the likes of Carter-Vickers or something

Not at all.  When Klose left we were told - effectively by the club, via the pinkun - that we’d be getting a replacement in.  That we haven’t covered any of the 3 defensive loan departures (McCallum, Klose, Famewo) is ridiculous. We have 3 specialist Centre-backs, of which 2 have played a combined total of 1 game between them since February.  That does not fill me with confidence particularly with so many matches coming up...we are gambling on it being ok; hopefully it will be but it’ll be more down to luck than judgement.

Genuine question... is it too late to recall Famewo?

I dont think you can recall and apparently they're very happy with him.

Thinking out of the box - could we loan him back?!? We could offer Charlton £500k to lend him back to us!

I wasn't expecting to be able to trot out the 'hate to say I told you so' line this quickly.

We're basically left in the same situation as we were in June, where we have to select a fixed back four (Aarons, Hanley, Gibson, Quintilla) for a period of time with no cover, unless you include the inexperienced teenagers like Mumba and Omobamidele, and one of the players is being rushed straight back into the team after a long layoff through absolute necessity.

The difference is that in June we were already up **** creek without a paddle so it didn't really matter too much, whereas this time it could potentially wreck our season before it really starts.

Webber has built up so much credit in his time here, but he's using up a hell of a lot of it with his squad building (or lack of it) this window.

thats a shame, wouldn't care if they were happy with him, all the more reason to recall. Bit like Harvey Barnes going back to Leicester early from WBA

Jeez this has been done to death already............ we can recall him in January during the transfer window if we wish (as is the case with all our other players out on loan).

The purpose of the thread is literally to highlight that Zimmerman is out 😉

Just reading on the Onel thread that we only have a couple of long term injuries in him and Byram apparently until someone threw Dowell into the mix and of course add Hanley to that who has been injured more often than not for the last year or so.

So basically if you can walk, you get a game in the defence and the cover are people who don't consider those positions one's they should be playing in... Farke mentioned they had trying but it was financial. Seems those that said we were in a stronger position have been let down again. No excuse, at this time in the season, to be this light at the back.

Injuries at CH seems to be a theme with City, I have to agree that there is no excuse if we are under resourced in that position with the business we have done recently.

Take your point, John, but Hanley isn’t injured right now so as it stands he’s not on the list thankfully! I’m sure that ‘list’ is still very comparable to any other club in this league to be fair.

"Very happy with my squad"

What do we think, Tettey to 'do a job' for the rest of the season?

I saw someone on twitter mention that between Gibson and Hanley we've got 90 minutes of football (including pre-season) since last season ended.

It is a big risk to think a) he is fit to get through ninety minutes and b) he does not breakdown during the game because if he has to be taken off we are up the creek without a paddle. Please don't mention Tettey can do a job at CB because that is putting a square peg in a round hole.

As for other clubs i am not in the slightest bit interested Alex but concerned that yet again for yet another season we are skating on thin ice with regard to our CB options.

It’s entirely reasonable to point again that three CH are not sufficient, if Gibson or Hanley get injured we will be patching up right at the start of the season. There really is no defence, literally!

Its also a lot of games crammed into a short space of time, with only 2 centrebacks who havent played much recently.

I'll give the club the benefit of the doubt at the moment, and assume that Sorenson, or the young irish lad (or Famewo) are capable of playing at CB, and more crucially capable of playing WELL at CB at championship level.

If I see Tettey at CB at any stage this season, I may have an aneurysm.
