A Load of Squit 6,035 Posted July 22, 2020 Selling his medals, hope he's OK financially. https://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb/auction-catalogues/lindsay-burns-and-company/catalogue-id-srli10029/lot-76930df5-281f-4fce-834b-abff00bae161

sonyc 6,058 Posted July 22, 2020 That's a bit upsetting to see ALOS. One of my favourite players over my years of supporting. I'm assuming he needs the money, otherwise why might you sell such personal things. Unless you simply have no personal connections.
Midlands Yellow 4,583 Posted July 22, 2020 A quality centre forward on par with Ashton.

Powerful, aggressive and with a rocket of a shot. Always remember his goal to beat Liverpool 2-1. Sad to see that things have come to this for him. Hope he's OK. Yorkshire Canary 118 Posted July 22, 2020 Just shows how the wages of players then and now have changed. It is very sad when anyone has to sell their medals
DraytonBoy 231 Posted July 22, 2020 He was declared bankrupt a few years ago so is clearly still struggling.

I know what Drinkell used to smoke, I had breakfast with him once before an away match in a hotel. Four fags in 30 minutes!
Wings of a Sparrow 1,685 Posted July 22, 2020 That’s a little bit sad ☹️ they’re not going to fetch a life changing sum of money.
Midlands Yellow 4,583 Posted July 22, 2020 Signed for £90,000 in 1985, one of the best acquisitions ever then for value for money.

canarycop 232 Posted July 22, 2020 Club should buy them for a few grand then give me back. Help him in his time of need
Grando 326 Posted July 22, 2020 It seems a bit odd to me that the auctioneer didn’t split up the lots. A Norwich fan is unlikely to be interested in a Rangers or Falkirk medal and vice versa.
Dean Coneys boots 1,484 Posted July 23, 2020 His goal to beat Liverpool at Carrow Rd in the 80s was a highlight of my youth. Tremendous player.
dylanisabaddog 5,777 Posted July 23, 2020 He scored 21 or 22 goals in a First Division season but never more than one in a game. An unusual statistic

keelansgrandad 6,680 Posted July 23, 2020 Only saw him "live" in a pre season friendly and had to satisfy myself with the odd goal snippet. What was he like as a player apart from his goals?
Ivana_rubyatitz 6 Posted July 23, 2020 Great striker back in the day with a cracking eye for goal. Also made Rosario look halfway useful when they played alongside each other and boy, was that a tough ask.

TeemuVanBasten 3,328 Posted July 24, 2020 How do we know he is selling the medals, he could have sold them years ago or had them taken off him by bailiffs when he went bankrupt. He's been a sales executive for Mercedes Benz for 6 years apparently.
DraytonBoy 231 Posted July 25, 2020 If it isn't him it's a bit of a coincidence that the location of the seller (Perth) is where he lives and works.
komakino 281 Posted July 25, 2020 Loved Drinkell. Liked a Pint and a Cigarette, but gave full value. Back in the days when Norwich City fans didn't accept relegation as a formality.

On the pint issue, wasn't his autobiography called "Drinks All Round" or something like that?

nutty nigel 7,817 Posted July 25, 2020 He promoted his book in Norwich. I think nCIsA put on the event🙃 I seem to remember the book had a different cover for different parts of the country (Norwich, Grimsby and Rangers). I can't remember how mine has the Rangers cover but I got it that night and Drinks signed it for me.
